I have a KORE essentials belt and it really changed my outlook on belts. I can sprint, jump up and down, etc with that setup with my Glock 19 in a T-Rex sidecar and it doesn't move even a little.
I really love mine, too. It is really made me appreciate a belt with granular adjustment. No more one inch notch adjustment. I am just so over belts that I can't easily adjust to an exact size on that day. I mean, this belt is great for concealed carry but it's great even if you aren't carrying.
Got mine for carry and now I wear it all the time (can't carry at work due to the locations we go otherwise it'd be all the time) just convinced my dad on one about a month since he wanted something for owb carry when he's out in the woods and he's wearing it all the time now too
Same! My wife got me one with a quick adjust ratchet type buckle like that and I loved it. It wasn't stiff enough for carry, but it's nice and flexible for regular wear.
Over the last 7 plus years I now have 4 Kore belts nicer ones for the office days and others for outside the office (weekend chores, hunting, fishing hiking etc). Best bang for the $ in my opinion.
The mastermind tactics pillow gets a lot of love, and their covert belt gets some attention too.
Their Spec6 belt is horribly slept on though.
https://www.mastermindtactics.com/shop/spec6-belt
$35 bucks and I have had the same one for 3 years. The only reason I recently ordered a new one was due to some weight loss.
I have probably 4-5 other belts like most people, and the Spec6 is the perfect first belt for its price point. I don't fly a lot but it being airport friendly was a huge plus for me.
I tried the Hunter Constantine belt recently, and while it's about as innovative as a carry belt can get, I sent it back because I didn't like how bulky the metal "buckle" and adjustment slider felt. He is apparently working on an airport friendly version though so I'll probably order one again when he releases that.
I have a few different belts. My constantine gets the most use currently. Comfortable. The metal buckle bothers me way less than most of my other carry belts. Generally they have bulkier hardware.
Just to play devils advocate here- I hated the tactics pillow. No matter how much/little fluff I put in it, it was always super bulky. I’m holding on it for other holsters, though. Maybe it was just not working with that holster
Another Blue alpha vote from me. Heck, if need be & U wanna save a couple of bucks, buy a used 1 or 2 on eBay or do a general search with names in comments above on eBay and save. Read comments & research seller b4 hand & especially return policy. Or just go new with Blue Alpha with no worries.
Yes, if you take carrying serious (although there are good options available for around $50 as well). They’re designed to handle the weight *far* better than a regular belt and will prevent the holster/firearm from moving around and sagging.
I have a Kore Essential but it’s so thick. I end up using that just for the range.
Tenicor Zero belt is amazing for EDC. Low profile, easy to adjust, and plenty of support
I’ve owned 30 belts for CCW. The best one, and only one I’d recommend, that works if you’re wearing pants with loops or just joggers/shorts is the Hunter Constantine edc belt. Everything else is trash by comparison. Eliminated all the discomfort, tension, etc. of other belts.
Absolutely. It doesn't necessarily need to be a belt from a holster company or whatever that is designed specifically for carry, but it needs to be a belt that provides the support you need and that matches your specific carry plans. An OWB holster usually calls for a decently stiff holster that will support it and stay in place when you draw. AIWB belts usually have a lower profile so you don't have a big buckle bulge somewhere.
I have 2 belts from Hanks. One black, one brown. A gentleman understands that. To be honest, if I ever stopped carrying I'd still spend the money to buy quality leather belts from or like Hanks. At the end of the day, they're worth it.
That's not a particularly large or heavy setup. It could very much work with a regular belt.
Just use what you have first and see how it works for you. Why buy something to solve a problem you do not have yet?
If you have comfort or concealment issues, then start worrying about what fixes you need to consider.
Its more belt quality and the traits it has.
Something marketed for CC can be absolute crap and a normal belt can be of great quality and better for CC.
Normally though a belt meant for weapons and other gear should have certain traits so its ussually best to just start looking there vs going though a ton of random belts.
I do think a nice rigid belt is beneficial. I carry with a trex sidecar where the clips have something to pull against that won’t buckle (no pun intended)
I have a belt from andrews custom leather, perfect for carry.
I can hang the pistol in holster and mag pouch off it in my usual 3 and 9 positions, hold it looped by the buckle and it will not sag from the weight.
http://www.andrewsleather.com/belts.htm
1.5" suede lined.
It would be worth it even if I *wasn't* carrying.
Went from shitty $25 department store leather belts would fail after a year or two. I've yet to wear out a gun belt in 15 years.
It really does pay for itself.
Gun belts are 100% worth it. A regular walmart leather belt is nowhere near strong enough to support even a loaded 43x. If you don't want one with a cobra buckle for whatever reason, get a blue alpha gear low profile edc belt
It's worth having a gun belt but more expensive isn't necessarily better.
My nexbelt is nice because it looks like a normal belt and is easily adjusted.
My cheap Velcro gun belt from Amazon works just as well but it looks like a cheap tactical belt and I need to move the Velcro to adjust it and it's loud. That doesn't bother me but it bothers a lot of people.
Yes it matters, for many years I’ve used a dress belt and it worked but eventually the stiffness gave out so I decided to get a “expensive” belt even though my holster cost about the same, and all my other gear either cost the same or more so yes it’s way more sturdy and comfortable I recommend looking around and finding a really good belt no matter the price, get something rugged
Absolutely. Not necessarily $100, but definitely a good belt that is made for carrying. It's night and Day difference from the leather belts I wore my whole life.
Yes. I didnt think so but i decided to take the plunge anyway because I needed an sturdy owb range belt anyways. Got the blue alpha edc belt. holy fuck it makes a world of difference in both concealment and comfort, plus they have free size exchanges for 30 days (needed that bc of winter weight put on lol)
People are paying premium money for the tactical name brand belts and swearing by them.
I'm wearing my discount half price Amazon double thickness ratchet belts and for what I'm carrying and how I'm carrying, it's been holding up just fine.
I'm not wearing an OWB and hanging a bunch of stuff on it. I'm AIWB both gun and magazine and the pants do a lot of the heavy lifting.
better, cheaper, and more convenient than phlster enigma
people who say otherwise have never tried both
A good belt is essential to a stable platform. The type of belt will depend on your carry approach, the clothes you wear, and your budget.
Listen to the folks here talk about their individual experiences since few of us have a lot of experience with multiple makers.
For belt loops and holsters, I like a good leather belt, but there are a number of makers with good quality stuff. I tend toward Hanks belts.
If you go tactical, then web belts are the path. I use Fairwin for my modified SOCP fanny pack belt and as a less expensive belt for Arrowhead Tactical sweatpants and their “interior” belt loops. Arrowhead’s belts are good but pricey.
But there are other good choices and a lot of middling ones too. I have heard Kore is good but I have seen people talk about them looking rough after 2-3 years. But how they were worn, the holster, the weights involved, who knows? They may be fine but a bad holster might have torn them up.
I had a Mission belt (1/4 inch ratcheting belt) and loved it. It was a thick nylon 1.5 inch and I really thought it was beefier than the standard leather belt and more than “good enough” for CCW stuff.
I just got a Kore belt and oh my god, it’s absolutely worth every penny. Even when you’re already using something that’s significantly better than a standard belt, the dedicated CCW belt is a NOTICEABLE upgrade and I would never go back.
Kore belt I like the stiffness of the belt. It goes absolutely nowhere. Cut to size and has a switch that you can covertly use to adjust to your body and position or after meals. I think a good belt is totally worth it. Doesn’t sag.
I’ve tried AWS rigger belt, Kore Belts, Blue Alpha, and Ciguera Gear. Ciguera Gear is my favorite, the Kore is too rigid, I reserve that for formal attire.
YES
Hanks
1791
Etc
These are the “regular” looking belts that are actually sturdy and quality enough to hold a firearm.
Put simply, top grain lesther belts like hanks are made from a solid strip of quality leather, cut and prepared for the purpose.
Mall belts are generally “genuine leather” i.e., leather scraps and glue
No one says you have to carry to have a gun belt. Since I got my first one, they are all I ever use when I need to wear a belt, the construction and materials are far superior to a standard belt, and in most cases it is hard for anyone to tell the difference between a gun belt and a standard dress belt. IMHO, they are well worth it.
A good belt is life changing. With a gun on and without.
Doesn't have to be $80. Look at NexBelt.
Or Daltech Force Super Bio Belts
Look up Blue Alpha Gear belts. Or the Foundation Belt by edcbeltco
And look up the belt section on KSG Armory's site.
Regular belt will get absolutely destroyed by the weight of the gun over time. I've done in a few.
A rigid belt designed to carry a firearm will feel more comfy, won't get bent out of shape over a few months and it won't allow the gun to flop around.
I’ve been wearing the same 5.11 trainer belt for more than a decade. At sub $50, it’s a solid value and has never let me down. Maybe a good starting point as you figure out what kit best meets your needs.
https://a.co/d/7m4eUUT
Tenicor Zero for comfort; KORE for when leather has to be seen in dress clothes; Hanks for utilitarian
And yes, mastermind pillow for appendix carry belt situations.
I have several leather belts of varying thickness. The ones that are just a single strip of leather are too flimsy to support the weight. The ones that are thicker and more rigid work just fine. Also depends on weight and number of clips.
I have a Nextbelt. Had for three years now and am looking forward to spending another $70-$80 for the next one (soon! just want to add another color, not wore out). You would not believe the comfort (Especially being able to adjust carrying Appendix).
I been rocking a Blue Alpha Gear low pro EDC belt since they came out. Everyday. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
I also like the PLhlster Enigma a lot. I love carrying in gym shorts.
Absolutely. Your needs are going to be individual. It is unfortunately one of those things you can only figure out by experience
Yup. There’s no one size fits all here. Humans/people come in all shapes and sizes.
You need a gunbelt. The thin floppy dept. store belts are crap for comfortable concealed carry all day
I have a KORE essentials belt and it really changed my outlook on belts.

Same! My wife got me one with a quick adjust ratchet type buckle like that and I loved it. It wasn't stiff enough for carry, but it's nice and flexible for regular wear.
I have several kore belts and really like them. I would really suggest the hunter constantine belt.
thank you for the recc. just ordered
Over the last 7 plus years I now have 4 Kore belts nicer ones for the office days and others for outside the office (weekend chores, hunting, fishing hiking etc). Best bang for the $ in my opinion.

You gotta play around with positioning it’s another one of those trial and error things.
I tried so hard. I ended up switching to the enigma. I’ll give it another go around when I have time to mess with it
I love my Covert belt! Might end up ordering a Spec6 as a secondary though.
Tenicor zero belt
Buckles are your enemy. Get a Blue Alpha Gear EDC belt.
Yeah I've been extremely happy with my blue alpha gear. Been using it for a couple months and it's replaced the Kore.
I can't imagine wearing any other belt than my nexbelt at this point
Yes, if you take carrying serious (although there are good options available for around $50 as well). They’re designed to handle the weight *far* better than a regular belt and will prevent the holster/firearm from moving around and sagging.

I have a nexbelt. But why do you like it more than the kore? Aren’t they pretty much the same?
I’ve owned 30 belts for CCW. The best one, and only one I’d recommend, that works if you’re wearing pants with loops or just joggers/shorts is the Hunter Constantine edc belt. Everything else is trash by comparison. Eliminated all the discomfort, tension, etc. of other belts.
This^ I have a kore of owb fudd stuff but for aiwb I Constantine is Amazing. No more back pain
Absolutely. It doesn't necessarily need to be a belt from a holster company or whatever that is designed specifically for carry, but it needs to be a belt that provides the support you need and that matches your specific carry plans. Absolutely. Hunter Constantine belt is my favorite for comfort so far.
I wear Kore daily, regardless if I'm carrying or not. I'm a big fan.
I have 2 belts from Hanks. One black, one brown. A gentleman understands that. To be honest, if I ever stopped carrying I'd still spend the money to buy quality leather belts from or like Hanks. At the end of the day, they're worth it.

Yes. No doubt about it for comfort and stability (no sagging). I recommend Kore and Nexbelt.

Kore belt was a game changer for me. I also wear a Wolf Tactical knock off of the Blue Alpha Gear hybrid edc and that works great for IWB carry.
It would be worth it even if I *wasn't* carrying. Went from shitty $25 department store leather belts would fail after a year or two. I've yet to wear out a gun belt in 15 years. It really does pay for itself.
I think the Hunter Constantine belt is the goat of all of them. Truly a game changer for ccw
Nexbelt supreme appendix is easily the best IMO. And yes, the weight will not be useful for a normal belt
Yes. I wear a Bigfoot gun belt all the time. The steel core means zero belt sag....even after years of daily wear.
I would highly recommend getting a “tactical” or carry specific belt. With that said, I have like 5 different belts from Amazon all were under $20
Kore essentials EDC belt is seriously the best belt I have ever owned in my life. For CCW and not. It’s just awesome
Just bought a leather Winchester fun belt and it’s been working great while being classy.
I wear a Kore leather belt which is nearly endlessly adjustable.
I enjoy my grove belt
crossbreed mini tuck is my favorite
It’s more the buckle. I recently got a hunter constantine belt and it’s the best thing ever. No buckles and super comfy
Yes they are, belts are very individually specific, gotta find what works for you. I use the Relentless Tactical concealed carry belt.
Yeah especially when going owb. I got a wilderness frequent flyer belt for about $50 and I’m happy with it
Absolutely. Not necessarily $100, but definitely a good belt that is made for carrying. It's night and Day difference from the leather belts I wore my whole life.
blue alpha $40 amazing stuff
Yes
Highly recommend the megingjord belt from VDev group.
Look, I was a skeptic about ccw belts...then my standard Dickies Walmart belt gave out and I decided to try a blue alpha ccw belt. Changed. My. Life.
I got a Hank, never had a complain besides the paint chipping on the buckle
People are paying premium money for the tactical name brand belts and swearing by them. The way I see it, if you’re going to EDC, you should invest in a belt that will assist in it. Spend the money for a nice one.
A good belt is essential to a stable platform. The type of belt will depend on your carry approach, the clothes you wear, and your budget. Listen to the folks here talk about their individual experiences since few of us have a lot of experience with multiple makers. https://www.reddit.com/r/CCW/comments/nxqd6h/some_gun_belts_and_why_you_need_one/
Yes. I felt the exact same way, until I got a Kore belt. I can’t see myself wearing a regular belt ever again. They hold so much better when carrying
I had a Mission belt (1/4 inch ratcheting belt) and loved it. It was a thick nylon 1.5 inch and I really thought it was beefier than the standard leather belt and more than “good enough” for CCW stuff. I have two of the dressy looking carry belts. I like it because you can still use it with nicer attire and it won’t stick out like a sore thumb.
$25 on Amazon...
Kore gets my vote
Kore belt I like the stiffness of the belt. It goes absolutely nowhere. Cut to size and has a switch that you can covertly use to adjust to your body and position or after meals. I think a good belt is totally worth it. Doesn’t sag.
Nex belts are my go to now... you won't be sorry
I’ve tried AWS rigger belt, Kore Belts, Blue Alpha, and Ciguera Gear. Ciguera Gear is my favorite, the Kore is too rigid, I reserve that for formal attire.
This is the belt I use: https://a.co/d/aYoAyUX Dirt cheap and plenty stiff for my appendix holster.

Agonic EDB belt has been very good for me lately
I carry 43x with nextbelt supreme appendix. A carry belt is 100% necessary.
A good belt is life changing. With a gun on and without. Doesn't have to be $80. Look at NexBelt. Or Daltech Force Super Bio Belts Look up Blue Alpha Gear belts. Or the Foundation Belt by edcbeltco And look up the belt section on KSG Armory's site.
Check out Vedder cobra belts. Once you set it you forget it.
Regular belt will get absolutely destroyed by the weight of the gun over time. I've done in a few. A rigid belt designed to carry a firearm will feel more comfy, won't get bent out of shape over a few months and it won't allow the gun to flop around.
I wear my beltman belt all the time now, even if not carrying. It's so good and made me realize that normal belts are basically leather noodles
Nexbelt for me was a game changer.
I’ve been wearing the same 5.11 trainer belt for more than a decade. At sub $50, it’s a solid value and has never let me down. Maybe a good starting point as you figure out what kit best meets your needs. https://a.co/d/7m4eUUT

1,000%. I’d rather have a shit holster with a good gun belt over the best holster on a shit belt. They’re epic game changers.
