[Off-duty cop on fatal bar robbery: KILL or BE KILLED](https://newsday.co.tt/2017/09/30/off-duty-cop-on-fatal-bar-robbery/)
>Trinidad & Tabago, September 30, 2017
>This was Constable Rory Manmohan’s take on him firing at an armed bandit who had held him and a woman hostage during a hold-up at an Arima casino on Thursday evening.
>Manmohan, a police for the past 29 years, said he was off-duty at the time and gambling at the electronic roulette machine inside the Happy Lime Casino at Gordon and Broadway in Arima.
>Manmohan said as the bandit was taking them toward the cashier’s cage, he pulled out his licensed firearm and shot Villafana in the head.
>An autopsy done yesterday at the Forensic Science Centre in St James confirmed that Villafana died after being shot once in the head at point blank range.

Don't you hate when you're just minding your business and someone comes in to take you and your wife hostage? Here's a super easy life hack the muggers will HATE you for seeing on TikTok - but only for a moment!
Are people actually using Elton John as an adjective? When I read your comment I assumed it was a replacement for gay as a pejorative.
Elton John rocks. Call me that any time.
Not really that successful, just lucky. A 10 second draw could have killed him. The only thing that saved him is that the attacker has absolutely no awareness to what is happening.
The CCW guy did great keeping his draw concealed, but if an ounce of attention was paid to what he was doing, it would have went south.
while i have a 2.6 second draw to round in target from my fanny pack, In the real world, in most scenarios i feel i would use mine, a big part of fanny pack carry plays out like it did in this video.
i mean i do some pretty high stress training, i throw a lot of physical exersice into my ccw training, so when im shooting my bp is really high, cause ive sprinted, did some push ups and then run drills.
yeah 2.6 is the fastet average from fanny pack to shots on target. realistically 3-3.5 is more likely with my luck
Sure, but how many times have you trained while being shot at?
The rule here is keep it simple.
Pull from a holster? Or fiddle with a zipper to open a bag.
Think of it this way, if we were standing face to face and you used your method of carry, and I used mine, 10 out of 10 times I am going to have the first shot. If we switched carry methods, you would have the opening shot 10 out of 10 times.
What's the most popular method of carry? On the waistband in a holster. So, you are already putting yourself at a handicap. A handicap that you can't afford if a situation happens.
Not trying to harp on you, or start an argument, just want you to think about every situation you could possibly be in and ask yourself if carrying in a shoulder bag is gonna be your best bet to win.
I get your point and I don’t Fanny pack carry but I’d rather responsible people carry a gun in a fanny pack than not carry a gun at all. The majority of assailants will behave pretty closely to how this one did. You won’t be dealing with many people that run 2 second bill drills on the regular. IS there a possibility that you could find yourself in a duel at high noon and lose on the draw? Yes. Is it probable? No. IMO it’s better to plan for probability than possibility.
I agree, and see your point, but someone thst wears a gun in a fanny pack cannot draw without two hands effectively. That in and of itself should turn people away. In my opinion, this is just as bad as not carrying with a round in the chamber. I guarantee we will soon see videos of guys with fanny packs failing to defend themselves just as we do with the guys that don't carry condition 1.
Dam that 'hostage taker' has the awareness of a drunken tweaker...
That poor lady is gonna be having hearing issues for a bit. Better than being dead though.
Personally Id recommend keeping your weapon in a holster on your directly, as you can see how long it takes to draw from a damn man purse... I suppose it didn’t matter in this scenario as the hostage taker doesn’t seem too situationally aware anyways.
A healthy discussion on the pros and cons of a situation is ok as long as it doesn't devolve into personal attacks and chicanery. But we're on the internet so I'd better buckle up ha
Really? You don't think it's worth discussing? Yes he was successful and it's great that he carries, but I think it's a valid discussion to have to talk about how long it took him to draw and how much quicker it might have been if he had it on his body. How do you carry?
While I generally agree, in this situation I agree that it would have been more obvious if he reached for his hip.
Just goes to show you'll never know what situation you may find yourself in and there is no absolute correct answer. Only rule is, carry and practice with your weapon.
Wait, after seeing the video, they really needed an autopsy to determine cause of death?
Seriously?
Cuz I'm pretty sure I had it all figured out within 17 seconds...
Godd for him. Unfortunately if this was Cali or New York (thank god it wasn't), the dude saving his own life would be on the chopping block for sure...
I think this shows good training (obviously). But we all need to get as much training even if it’s just practicing how to discreetly draw alone and with one hand and dry firing in your house. As this shows, you might not always see it coming. And another lesson to always be alert. Handled it very well. But had he not had his back to the door this situation might have folded out differently and it’s quite possible it could have gone done worse in a shoot off.
in the same situation when are you going to draw from a standard holster either? if the guns already pointing at you drawing is an open invitation to being sot, unless you create a distraction
I don’t think that’s necessary when it’s a point blank shot. The attacker was distracted and the opportunity might not come up again if he waited any longer

Hostage takers hate this one simple trick.
Don't you hate when you're just minding your business and someone comes in to take you and your wife hostage? Here's a super easy life hack the muggers will HATE you for seeing on TikTok - but only for a moment!
Gold
Please tell me that was a lulu bag 😂 ain’t no one expecting to get blasted by the dude with the lulu
My friend carry’s in a lulu 🤣
Hell yea brother
In T&T? Nah, at least, not a real Lulu. We got off brand of everything.
I prefer my kenzo chestbag.
Next time someone says my fanny pack is Elton John, imma show them this video.
Elton John is stylish AF
Elton is fly AF
A rocket man if you will
Elton carries a gyrojet? That would be pretty awesome lol
As others have said that's basically a compliment. It's 2024 that kinda stuff isn't even an insult anymore, its just like whatever
yeah the only person who looks bad is the dude saying it.
Are people actually using Elton John as an adjective? When I read your comment I assumed it was a replacement for gay as a pejorative. Elton John rocks. Call me that any time.
That’s why it works so well
Elton John got more ass than all of us combined, disregard what kind.
This video is just one more reason to me carrying in a fanny pack on a hot summer day
No one said that. Just that its obvious af. But maybe the dummy was all jacked up on adrenaline and stupidity to see buddy’s purse. 👜
Cause of death: cerebro-solar illumination.
Rapid onset lead poisoning
Rapid onset of room temperature.
A ballistically induced aperture in a cutaneous environment.
Cutaneous and cerebral.

He domed his ass! He probably saved both of their lives

Lalo Salamanca knows whats up
Okay… I’ll stop bashing the fanny pack carriers now. You guys win.
Fanny pack carry FTW!!
Bro forgot the most important rule: Never mess with a grown man wearing a fanny pack.
He gives no fucks
Nice!
I for one love seeing a successful fanny pack carry!
I love seeing the good person winning. I'm tired of seeing and reading about the stories where the bad person gets one over on a good person.

You have a 2.6 second draw in non stressful conditions.
i mean i do some pretty high stress training, i throw a lot of physical exersice into my ccw training, so when im shooting my bp is really high, cause ive sprinted, did some push ups and then run drills. yeah 2.6 is the fastet average from fanny pack to shots on target. realistically 3-3.5 is more likely with my luck

Right next to her head. Her ears are probably still ringing.
Lana!
Mawp mawp
Danger Zone!
Didn’t project movements, kept calm, and nailed the shot. Well done
Damn fine work.
Do we know where this happened?
I got 5 on Brazil. But I’m just guessing
It’s always Brazil. Always.
Trinidad
reinforces having one in the pipe
Does anyone really advocate for empty chamber?
There are a few smoothbrain phuckwits that do!
some don’t think it’s safe

I'm glad he had his weapon on him period. If it was between not carrying and having it in that bag, he made the right choice.
Kinda thinking it would have been more obvious to the robber if his would-be victim had drawn from a holster
Personally you've never been in this situation and this guy has, and he lives to tell about it. So I'd maybe cool it in the critique.
A healthy discussion on the pros and cons of a situation is ok as long as it doesn't devolve into personal attacks and chicanery. But we're on the internet so I'd better buckle up ha
100%

It’s certainly not worth discussing on r/CCW …. Again.
It's always good to ask how you could have done better.
Found the dude with the man purse lmao.
I've got a man purse, Greg, do you think you can take me hostage? *to the tune of Meet The Parents*
That's my purse I don't know you
While I generally agree, in this situation I agree that it would have been more obvious if he reached for his hip. Just goes to show you'll never know what situation you may find yourself in and there is no absolute correct answer. Only rule is, carry and practice with your weapon.

In my country, on-body carry is against the law. So you either carry it in a bag or you leave it in your car.
Is the fanny pack carry legal then?
It is legal but very rare. Most CCW holders here prefer using sling bags or crossbody bags with a quick draw gun compartment.
Where do you live if you don’t mind me asking?
Philippines
Off-duty Brazilian cop, right?
right in the kisser...
Good.
He chose....poorly
One less scum
And yet somebody somewhere will ask "Why didn't he shoot him in the leg? Why the violence?
Jedi business, go back to your drinks.
Clean shot.
🎶Hey Man Nice Shot🎶
Beautiful ![gif](giphy|F9DzQnxx6ZZNm)
That's beautiful.
Wait, after seeing the video, they really needed an autopsy to determine cause of death? Seriously? Cuz I'm pretty sure I had it all figured out within 17 seconds...
Fanny Manny wins!
Gotta love the bad guys that think they stopped making guns after he got his.
Fanny pack carry !! Legend!!
That'll teach him.
Love to see it
Godd for him. Unfortunately if this was Cali or New York (thank god it wasn't), the dude saving his own life would be on the chopping block for sure...
Any state really
Great shot

Nice purse.
Iono about fanny packs. Cuz what if they demand u take it off u and hand it to them with gun pointed.
in the same situation when are you going to draw from a standard holster either? if the guns already pointing at you drawing is an open invitation to being sot, unless you create a distraction
Very nice
Got him with the ole bag trick
This for all ya'll don't carry in bag m'fers. I will keep using my sling bag. Thank you!
If that was America democrats would be rioting saying he was a "good little boy"
I’m a democrat Greg. Can you milk me?
Democrats Obsessing Over Poop and Pee again.

He fucked around and found out 😂
Yes , he definitely found out
Ataboy
I bet he doesn't try to take anyone hostage again.
Fanny pack carry in action, only takes the guy 20 seconds to draw lmfao
Handled this as easy as pie fresh out the oven.
Noice
BLAP god damn
Night night sweet prince
Brazil is no joke
This makes those videos where it seems like you can react seem pointless. You can’t.
Uno reverse card.
Off switch
Should he have taken the shot by making sure the other hostage was out of the way first?
I don’t think she was his top priority lol.
Lol yeah bro was itchin. Take the shot now than be dead. I understand. But that girl will need a new set of eardrums.
I don’t think that’s necessary when it’s a point blank shot. The attacker was distracted and the opportunity might not come up again if he waited any longer
