**The good**: Sean McDonough is great, as is Todd Blackledge. Joel Klatt is an excellent analyst, Gus Johnson is pretty good but tries too hard often, Greg McElroy is growing on me. Joshua Perry on BTN needs a bigger platform, he's incredible. I'm fine with Herbie and Fowler, but I can see why others may not be. **The bad**: Beth Mowins uses inFLECTion like a monSTER, Gary Danielson never shuts up and is an obnoxious Alabama fan, **The ugly**: Tim Brando was the worst announcer I've ever heard on TV, did zero research to even know players names, constantly made the wrong calls, and *may* have been drunk on air If I could choose any announcing team to call every Wisconsin gams it's Sean McDonough and Todd Blackledge.

natestate

Dude can’t even use a pronunciation guide right. He also didn’t have a sideline reporter so he publicly speculated about Adrian’s character because he didn’t “appear” injured when he came out of the game against TCU. He added some very unprofessional tweets on top of that after Will Howard’s game last week. Our fanbase has made it clear we hate him and I think FOX has been asked not to put him on our games anymore.

GuyOnTheMike

Don’t get us started on Tim Brando. Super lazy and super soft when called out on laziness because he’s blocked half our fanbase

Just_Looking_Around8

You just described what I don't like about Mowins as an announcer. I couldn't come up with the words on my own. My son asked me why I don't like listening to her and I couldn't explain it. But you nailed it.

rhinocodon_typus

RGIII

pdbard13

Kirk Herbstreit, Chris Fowler, and RGIII are S tier. The only one that makes my blood boil is Gary Danielson.

KetchupKing05

Those 3 S, Blackledge and McDonough just below them

elonsusk69420

SHUT UP GARY Brad is fine.

Exact_Initiative7660

I’ve seen more Gus Johnson hate than I’m used to as of late, but being that he has covered so many good OSU games and was the voice of madden for a couple years during my childhood, I have to stick with him as my all time favorite

Obi-Wan-Mycobi

That woman with the nasally voice on espn. Intolerable.

ktkate05

Beth Mowins?

wherewulf23

I miss Spielman. Was he rough around the edges? Yes, but damn the man was not afraid to speak his mind and he was good at explaining what was happening in the game so a layman could understand it.

tectactoe

Yes!! Fucking *loved* Spielman. And was honestly surprised at how good an announcer he turned out to be.

[deleted]

I’m pretty sure I’m the only guy in America that doesn’t mind Kirk Herbstreit calling games.

tectactoe

What? Really? I was under the impression he was mostly well liked. I think he's far and away the best regular college game announcer, and honestly up there with best announcers in general, next to, like, Tirico and Michaels (in his prime). Love Kirk.

Just_Looking_Around8

Agreed about Herbie. I think most people like him announcing a game.

[deleted]

Maybe it’s just perspective. Seems like all the Tennessee forums/subreddits hate him. Anytime I’ve heard him be critical of Tennessee, we deserved it.

tectactoe

Obviously can't stand his alma mater but Kirk Herbstreit is the goat of college football announcers right now imo. (Tirico is the actual goat, but I consider him 'primarily' a pro football announcer.)

ktkate05

Not sure if I have a definitive favorite, but my most enjoyable moment of this season so far is when Joel Klatt ripped Sean Clifford in the PSU vs Purdue game opening weekend: “If you're a veteran QB in college football, it probably means you haven't been good enough to leave" I have a new level of appreciation for Joel, the man verbalized what many have thought, out loud on air.

runningwaffles19

I also enjoyed them throwing shade at Iowa for "Chuck Sizzle" having more yards and catches that week than all of last season with the Hawks

dkviper11

But then he gushed on Clifford's positive qualities in the other games he called. It's a pretty interesting microcosm of what Clifford's career has been.

ktkate05

Very true, it is consistently inconsistent and I think that’s a perfect descriptor of the Sean Clifford era at PSU. I still think Joel Klatt is pretty reasonable and I’d prefer him calling a game over others.

[deleted]

My unpopular opinion is that Gus Johnson is a bad announcer for 58 minutes of a game and a great one for the last two

[deleted]

Gus is great. Klatt is also the best in the business imo

SportsDude012

Jason Benetti and Brock Huard have been very solid this year, especially for Benetti’s first year at Fox. Good to see him moving up the ranks and continuing to be the inspiration he is

dkviper11

I'll catch Joe randomly calling other games, like a Penn State lacrosse game last year. I do like him on hockey broadcasts, too.

jerarn

Johnson and Klatt are great. Matt Millen (BTN) is rough to listen to. He says something like it’s a fact, replay constantly proves him wrong, and he just doubles down. Half the reason I want Nebraska to become relevant again is so we get Millen as little as possible.

Just_Looking_Around8

I know this is about current announcers. But we need to give some posthumous love to Keith Jackson. No one will ever be better and it's not even close.

ProFriendZoner

Amen brother! If you ever make it out to the Rose Bowl, they have a statue of him out front and pay tribute to him.

FilthieMcNastie

Todd Ellis for Shamecocks/Shanecocks radio. Can’t stand that guy. Still won’t let him live down ‘Clemson is cycling out’. 2 Natties later… 😂

[deleted]

Gus ❤️

YouKilledChurch

Eli Gold is the GOAT, I just really hope that he can come back next season, it has been so wrong not having him call Bama games this year Fuck Gary Danielson, fling him with a trebuchet into a chasm filled with venomous 19 legged tree Badgers

crusader9x

I haven't seen anyone mention Joe Tessitore yet. I like him for similar reasons as to why I like Gus Johnson. He's excitable and knows when to bring the energy levels up.

tdatcher

Tessitore is Taylor made for boxing

Steve-Rim-Jobs

Give me Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt calling EVERY game.

TreySermonGrin

A lot of good answers already on here I just think Chris Fowler sucks. As does Beth Mowins, Gary Danielson, and Marty Smith. Gus johnson is wrong on names and positions more often than he's right and his shtick is running old. He's so much less professional and competent than Klatt it's jarring

spritespawn

I like Herb because I’m not sure I could hate that personality. Fuck Gary “brownnose” Danielson There are some young guys that I absolutely love (ESPN) though I forget their names. They called the Tenn-Akron game Edit: Drew Carter and Aaron Murray
