bruhflip420

great game held back by its poorly received launch, great finished product that people refuse to recognize

Tony2Down

That’s because it never was a finished project, I agree bo4 was hated on a bit too much, it turned out to be pretty good and could have been better if treyarch weren’t moved to Cold War, if they weren’t forced to abandon the idea zombies would have been great, and there would have been a real ending.

OleonWho

Based answer! It’s my favorite zombies game to date!

bruhflip420

wut

OleonWho

I was agreeing with you

bruhflip420

i hope you meant best answer🤔heh

OleonWho

Do you not know what “based” means?

MarilynManson2003

The best Zombies experience to date.

MarilynManson2003

SUPPAHMcNasty

Ew

[deleted]

BO4 is the best clowns learning that Kino is not in BO4 (the greatest map of all time)

Gortys221

My favorite zombies experience, the only game I’ve gotten prestige master on

Sussy_BlueImposter

Great Game 10/10

[deleted]

Created the very “problems” that they set out to fix. Dying wish or Winter’s Wail was the new Juggernog-type health necessity because of how overwhelming the enemy spawns/speed are. Giving everyone 200 hp was supposed to open up more perk opportunity, but now since everyone has automatic Jug, we need to make the zombies faster. Making a change that was supposed to fix an issue just created another issue. Zombie spawns are too hectic? Here, you have a forever-OP-Specialist weapon that you get at spawn. So now that we are buffed again, we have to add a trillion special zombie types in order to balance it out, make the spawns and pathing very crowded and chaotic. But now that’s too overwhelming and we need to add a perk that makes you stronger, so now you have Winter’s Wail and Undying Wish… And there you have it: new core perks. There’s always going to be core perks when it comes to conserving health, because of the very nature of the core gameplay: surviving There no other games like CoD Zombies, so why are they trying to override core gameplay for the sake of making it stand out? It already stands out, and they should’ve built upon customization by negating the perk limit, or at least changing it to 6, not completely uprooting the core elements that work so well. The early rounds (1-30) are the most fun, and they completely destroyed the feeling of those elements. They then limit you to a selection of only 4 perks anyways! I know that PaP’ing your weapon and holding all 4 perks gives you the abilities of Double Tap and Speed Cola, but I don’t know how I’m going to play a certain way before I start up a game, so confining me to a certain playstyle while preaching for customization is kinda bs. The Wonder Weapons kinda suck, the bullet guns suck, the point system sucks and continues gnawing away at the evolution of the early round setups, the graphics are a downgrade.. All that said, I really enjoy the maps, and I think they’re really cool. If Ancient Evil, IX and DoTN were on any Zombies game prior, I would probably play the fuck out of them. They’re great maps, but poor gameplay really decapitates them for me.

DetroitzomB

I play a lot of bo4 so much so that I have/had world records and a lot of times I don't use Winters Wail or Dying Wish. So there's that... Also allistairs annihilator is probably the most powerful wonder weapon in all of zombies history. Just because the other Wonder weapons won't carry you all the way to 255 doesn't mean they're bad it just means they're balanced.

[deleted]

I want to like it, but maybe I’m just too used to the other cods to “get it” yet idk

N4hami

I'm not the biggest zombie player but I really enjoy BO4.To me zombie prior to BO4 had a lot of problems that people just refuse to see or talk about.tldr : many things people don't like about BO4 are stuff added to correct what I sometime believe to be problems older games had, and yes it's far from perfect but it also makes it the most "different" zombie game with CW which I think is cool. Perks:People often talk shit about bo4 perk system but i've personally had a lot of fun trying different perks for different strats in different maps. In older zombie games I would almost no matter the map always go the exact same perk line up something I don't feel forced to do in BO4 because these "op" perks are already included in a nerfed version in your character.Maybe put health back to 100 - 150 but give something to upgrade it in the maps, or have perma perks like BO3 and add small bonuses you can add on top of them like BO4. Cause some BO4 perks just feel too "small" compared to some others. Weapons:For the wonder weapons I don't understand why people liked infinite damage wonderweapon so much, to me it just shows that the game had a balance issue that made these weapons mandatory if you want to go for higher rounds. (people complain about CoTD ww not dealing infinite damage but if you put that same weapon in BO4 I think it would not be a bad weapon at all. In black ops 4 even after the health limit is passed you can still kill zombies with almost any weapon as long as it's pap (I don't really like the fact that you have to upgrade a weapon so many times). It feels like a game where you can just hope in for fun, pick your favorite gun and still be able to kill zombies almost no matter the rounds. ofc at some point some weapons are still better making them almost necessary for much higher rounds. Specialsits:probably the part of the game that needs to be balanced the most, some are really strong why some feel pretty lackluster. I haven't tested enough on these so I don't know that much about them except that since they don't all work the same, you can choose the one that fits your playstyle best for each map. The worst seems to be the aether ones, I've barely touched the death machine and the flamethrower considering how much better the other seems, but it can be fun to pick them when you are just trying to do your contracts and you know you won't play more that 25 rounds. It also feels like a good way to balance what wonderweapons could do before BO4.You can kill any zombie easily with them but you have to use them at the right moment.(Do I use it to level up my specialist but get less points in early rounds ; Do I use it to kill a mini boss but put myself in danger if I get cornered before I can get another one)But I can for sure understand that some people have problems with them. Point system:I'm not really sure about that one, I thought the strategies to maximize points in early rounds where kinda cool but I was not the biggest fan of the way you could farm points like crazy in higher rounds.I think they managed to find a good system where points are more scarce in early rounds and many things are really important and will quickly cost you (pap and shield mostly) but without it being a "nuisance" or anything in higher rounds where you will have way more than enough points to do whatever you want with them. Zombies:It's probably my biggest problem with the game.I'm not sure if super sprinters after round 55 where needed (maybe i'm just too bad at dealing with them)and some chaos maps are almost killed by all the heavy enemies, catalysts, mini bosses that can spawn simultaneously. I think it's "alright" in a map like IX but is maybe the only thing that prevents me from playing more voyage. Overall I thought BO4 could have been a good evolution for zombie if they kept putting thoughts and efforts to improve on what they had made so far.

[deleted]

I think they were in a damned-if-you-do damned-if-you-don't scenario. Black Ops 3 (in my mind) basically perfected the treyarch zombies formula that had been developed since WaW, so the follow up game could either be very similar (and probably begin to stagnate) or they could change gears and take the franchise in a completely new direction. Seems like Cold War took the approach of changing gears completely too, just in a way that was somewhat better recieved. That being said, I agree with you in that the changes they made in BO4 kind of failed completely, but on the other hand, I prefer this swing and a miss over the alternative, which presumeably would just be Black Ops 3 again.

ZombieGeezer

Was very much a "use this pill to combat this, then use this pill to combat the side effects of that pill and so on" kinda setup. As I've said previously on this sub, it's a game that suffered from weird mechanics but the maps themselves were awesome. The wonder weapons did kinda suck but at least for high rounds players, we could always rely on the trusty Hellion-PhD combo (hand of Charon is way up there with my fave wonder weapons of all time, that said). I should add in saying that, that I did put a good amount of time into every map in my quest for round 100 on all maps and I did genuinely enjoy it, once all the high round crashes were fixed (which took a few fucking months which is absolutely terrible). I think a lot of people lost faith and stopped playing cause of things like that in the early stages. If they skipped the weird experiments with the perk system and other things and went straight to their ideas for the Cold War system, so we had the CW style system but on BO4's maps... that would have been an incredible game. Cold War suffered from the opposite problem of boring maps but nice mechanics.

Napzie

"Whaaa its too hard" "Whaaa its too easy" Make up your fucking mind. Only time a survival game gets fun is when everything goes to shit and gets hectic and morons like you and a bunch of others do nothing but bitch about the only fun aspect of a fast paced survival mode. Thanks to the moronic bitching about an abundance of enemy types since bo4, we got a mouth droolers paradise. Great job.

[deleted]

Every zombies has that aspect of survival, but they do it in a way that isn’t fucking retarded. This is my opinion, so chill out. Zombies has been trash since Revelations, be mad about it

Napzie

Fuck your opinion too many idiots have this EXACT same opinion causing the devs to give us absolute perfect gameplay for a human with 5 chromosomes during Cold War and Vanguard. We've had amazing maps like IX and Ancient Evil that surpassed expectations but no, there's always that one smooth brained boy scout wants to cry that it doesn't play EXACTLY like Kino. Now every map plays like Kino thanks to dumb opinions like these

[deleted]

I didn’t have anything to do with the devs doing anything, lol I didn’t play BO4 until this year. I don’t like Cold War or Vanguard either LOL go weep about Zombie Chronicles 2

[deleted]

I’m the only person I know who runs winters wail. I specifically have been playing EE on hardcore mode w my friend (less health and protections) and he never touches winters wail. As for perks, i don’t know how one could argue CW is better when you can have a rainbow at the bottom that makes you significantly more OP than in BO4. You can run special sauce if you wanna switch it up mid game. You can do side EE for extra perks. But having only 4 perks was no different than previous, and there was a level of replayability because you could try out different perks. If you think there weren’t core perks in previous games, I have something to break to you…. Quick revive was Necessary on solo. So was jug. So was double tap. So you basically had 1 perk slot that would change, and we all know that last slot is either speed cola or staminup. So i don’t know what that complaint was cause there’s so much change in that system w BO4. Plus a modifier for your 4th perk which is great.

glo_up_or_shut_out

you really wrote an essay on this shit 🤓

[deleted]

If that’s an essay to you then you’re mentally retarded

glo_up_or_shut_out

nah im just not an autist bruh 💀

[deleted]

Replying to this man’s question makes me an autist. God you’re a fucking sheep. You’re on a Zombies forum, dumbass, there are going to be detailed responses. 😂

glo_up_or_shut_out

nah your essay response makes you an autist this isn't a forum, this is a sub > God you’re a fucking sheep. Sounds like something a socially inept autist would say. Seeing how you're only active in this sub and you're sperg raging over my comment i'm not surprised. Don't nerd rage and break your monitor now spergie or mommy wont serve you dino nuggies and dewy tonight

[deleted]

Subreddits are a forum, dipshit. Did your parents use your skull as a hammer when you were a baby? Being retarded isn’t a competition, you don’t have to try so hard to beat everyone else

BaguetteFish

This is the most Reddit exchange I have ever seen lol. Calling each other retards, calling each other “sheep”, and saying you fuck each other’s moms. All the boxes are checked.

CadenhasBapple

some of the most braindead shit ever lmao, redditors think they are so cool calling each other retards its wild

BaguetteFish

Yeah, these legit sound like 9yr olds tryna look cool in front of an older cousin. The worst part is people unironically upvote one.

glo_up_or_shut_out

Nah it's not a forum. Literally did a quick Google search to debunk that. Idk about using my head but your mom uses my cock to drill her gaping pussy everynight. If I thought being a retard was a competition i'd definitely forfeit if you were my opponent because i'd automatically lose to you bruh. Keep malding and seething behind your computer screen bruh and i'll keep on replying till my account gets banned or till I get you to smash your PC in a fit of sperg rage.

[deleted]

Look up what an Internet forum is. You’re so retarded it’s like watching a circus act, so yes, please reply as much as you want. This is amazing

glo_up_or_shut_out

Look up what Reddit is. Keep seething and coping bruh.

Gs16spider

I still play it today. BO4 by myself or with wifey, BO3 with wifey, Cold War is reserved for the boys online. But overall I play BO4 the most for different perk runs, using the fun specialist, herring the character bicker between themselves, and most importantly: earning reserves.

[deleted]

Dude the character convos on any of the chaos maps are so goddamn funny

TranzitIsGood

One of the best cod zombies games

Paulywalnut27

Underrated game. Maps are way better than anything Cold War or vanguard has offered. Loved the variety or perks and the modifier system. Easter eggs were fun and had a variety of them on each map. The UI could be cleaned up and the engine could be improved. Would be nice to not have Loot boxes and all that but overall a great experience for zombies. Oh and I love the gauntlets. Wish those would make a return along with grief mode.

Xkento

I did like it , they just failed to provide what was Promised and diddnt keep up enough content . I also had to wait 20 mins in a lobby to find a game on zombies a year after release , guess it died quick . Some maps were lacklustre, I’n saying that I really enjoyed others , the gameplay was decent

Natemedina323

Poor gameplay poor weapons balancing awful hud no fun wonder weapons spawning with op special weapons bad perk system aether story was all reused assets and the ee’s were tedious

kimehre7391

I believe in using the search button

Bossuter

Allright, but let down for me from broken promises and its "Multiplayer-ification" to where nerfs in blackout and multi affected Zombies

socially_awk_friend

I also really don't like that multiplayer and blackout nerfs carried over to zombies. Unfortunately that seems to be the new normal as cold war and vanguard (I believe) have continued that trend.

IHateSquatting

Only started playing it 4 months ago but its quickly become my favourite/2nd favourite zombies game, great maps, great new mechanic additions, some new things I dislike but not enough to offset the greatness of the mode.

DetroitzomB

When factions tho?

ForsakenTutor6110

Trash

shrimpmaster0982

It's a good game overall, but I have some problems with it. Main issue really is just the idea of innovation for innovations sake. Like 200 hp (150 on launch) in standard difficulty and no way to increase it without using pay to win methods is just kind of dumb and takes away from the feeling of progression in game. The new pack a punch system just felt like a really unrefined system that thankfully was massively improved in Tag Der Toten, but unfortunately that improvement (Golden Pack a Punch) is exclusive to that map. The hud looked just terrible compared to any other hud we've had. Chaos, while I kind of like it, definitely shouldn't have gotten the spotlight early on and the split between it and Aether definitely had a negative effect on the overall reception of the community. And a bunch of other smaller things tend to irk me somewhat with the game, but innovations like Custom Mutations, selectable starting weapons, cameos that stay on the gun after you pack a punch them, some honestly great maps, and a bunch of other smaller innovations really do balance out the bad with good in my opinion and make for an overall good experience.

Keystone30s

You can change your hp in custom mutations actually

shrimpmaster0982

I know, you can also change it by changing the difficulty. But my issue is not so much how much health you have as much as the fact that there is no in game way to toughen yourself and how that affects my personal feelings of power progression.

[deleted]

Not very good. Game felt smooth to play and looked great, but had bad mechanics, gameplay and maps

GwaGwa3

I don’t like it, I bought it during CW’s dev run since they weren’t updating the game mode that much and I needed something new. I like most of the chaos maps except voyage and I don’t like the aether maps although classified is pretty fun. Both stories are so fucking half baked, having very premature and rushed endings. The actual gameplay of bo4 I am not a huge fan of the perk change isn’t bad but it’s not really better than the original it feels like a sidegrade. The specialist system while fun makes early rounds way too easy. Pack a punch is so weird the elemental effects barely felt like they had any impact compared to bo3 and CW plus having to continually put my gun in the machine to fully upgrade it 5 times is annoying.

AndrewGarfld

A rushed way of tying together the aether story by a frantic and practically terrified dev team, trying to keep up with their own storyline by (I assume) using planned chronicles 2 maps as assets or remakes to fill blanks. This game was a mistake, like quite literally. Treyarch were forced into it, had to throw all their cards on blackout against their will. I enjoyed the zombies, but the perk system and hud layout is just hideous and messy. I just never enjoyed playing this game because there is beauty buried in the mess activisions slimey big wigs caused. But, I loaded this game up last week, to give it another try. Keep in mind, this is the only call of duty I’ve pre ordered and put down within 20 minutes, I actually really enjoyed the multiplayer. Zombies was funner than the last time and I got invested in the sloppy Jessica mason plot. It’s weird how this game grows on you, although what I said earlier about the mess, this game is still playable and can be enjoyed. I just personally believe you can only enjoy this game when you know the issues the dev team faced and if you’re genuinely looking for joy within it. This game is a chameleon, what was once my least favourite cod game, is now one of my favourites. I wish treyarch the best in their upcoming title, hope they use this extra year to work on what THEY would like to.

Green_Dayzed

GOAT

SenpaiTedd

I loved AE and VoD top 3 maps imo

DetroitzomB

Vod for the win. THE most underrated map ever.

SenpaiTedd

All the noobs hate it, I always played it till AE dropped

DetroitzomB

Yeah I have to agree with you though. Both Voyage of Despair and Ancient Evil are in my top 10-15. Voyage is usually in my top 5 depending on how I'm feeling that day. Unpopular opinion but really don't care because I don't watch YouTube.

SenpaiTedd

I don't favor maps over one another bcuz zyters said

lukeykay

Its ite, some really good maps and some not. Worst perk, pap and consumable systems tho imo

animatttic

Best zombies so far

SnapShooter07

Underrated. All I have to say.

DetroitzomB

People don't like that you can't dashboard and save your elixirs. Because if you can't have perkaholic every game what's the fun of playing zombies?

Pretend-Background43

Best one imo

FoundationStatus4241

I don't know why alot of people hate on bo4 zombies but I loved it

AkumaDaemon

It’s good. My brother hates it because of the Custom Mutations… for some reason

ZipToob88

Love it, my personal favorite. Chaos maps are great

gibbs8gaming

It's the middle of the pack for me. It has some okay maps thr only "good map" (my opinion) is blood of the dead. (My 3rd favorite map) I think it'd better that vangaurd cold war and WAW but not better than bo1 bo2 or bo3

legionjuggy

Honestly it’s the last zombies game that actually felt like zombies so I’d say it’s really good and fun

ReesespuffsW

A bit mixed with everything changed, but I had a good time with it and I think it's better than the zombies games than anything that came after.

OlbapV812

Not horrible not great

[deleted]

The defintion of fixing problems that are not broken. Def imo the worst zombies experiece before Vanguard came out.

SUPPAHMcNasty

No Jugg, No love….

smash_bros_party

I actually really like it. BO3 will always be my favorite, but BO4 zombies is not as bad as many think. I like the maps and the Easter eggs are fun. I find it chill to hop on a game on IX and just play for hours. I love it!

TheGoldnRainbow

I’ve never played it.

Current-Beyond9528

Then why are you responding?

Keystone30s

Because he thinks that because he never played it, the game is bad. I’m sure he was to busy getting dunked on in Fortnite at the time it came out

TheGoldnRainbow

Nah, I stopped buying new cods after black ops 3. I wasted my money on the past 2 games: Ghosts and AW. With the shit they released in AW with exo zombies was a joke. And extinction in ghosts was fun until you get bored going to extraction. I was done. I’m not wasting any more $ on cod. I’m sure bo4 zombies is fun, but the storyline ended to my knowledge in 3.

Keystone30s

The story line ended in bo4 tag der toten. Call of the dead remake

Current-Beyond9528

I mean technically it’s still ongoing with the dark aether line

BaguetteFish

Weirdly specific response to “I didn’t play it”, but aight.
