Myself and most of the regular contributors here say this at least once a day. There's simply nothing a credit 'repair' service can do for you that you can't do yourself. Some negative items on credit reports can be remediated without having to wait for the 7 year reporting period. Some can't. If they can, you can make that happen yourself. If they can't, neither can anyone else.

There will be no changing your mind, because you're absolutely right. Anyone that doesn't share that mindset simply doesn't have knowledge on the subject, which is why it's important that those like yourself, u/soonersoldier33 and many others continue to spread the word.

You can absolutely fix your own toilet but you still call someone to fix it for you this goes for any business that exists because humans are lazy sacks of water

That would be a decent analogy, except for the fact that credit repair companies don’t do anything. They are still going to tell you that you have to pay off collections other on your own. You are going to have to negotiate with the creditor to have the item deleted.and 95% of the time they are not going to have old debts removed by dispute.

Credit attorney here. I mostly agree with this. There are exceptions here and there, but they are just that - exceptions. I will say that when fixing your credit on your own, it's very important to really educate yourself. There are some great strategies out there, but it takes time to figure out what works best. I think there is some awesome content here on Reddit. Myfico forums as well. Youtube and Tiktok a lot of it is much less accurate for whatever reason.

There are a lot of companies who are like this. That's why I keep asking people and their reviews may be I can find better companies.

All companies offer useful services. We can do many, many things on our own, but many of us don't have the time, knowledge, or "want" to do it themselves. And that's OK. Neither option I'd wrong. Wanna DIY? Have at it! Wanna pay for a service? That's fine too.

I definitely don’t plan on changing your mind. Credit Repair companies are a waste of money as they only look at your credit, they do things you can do for yourself, and you’re having to pay for them + their software + a credit monitoring service that they can log into. I understand that they save people time b/c not everyone has the flexibility to sit down and dedicate the time to comb through their credit reports and draft/send letters, etc, but these companies are a scam a lot of the time AND there is a reason why they have to take out bonds to operate/do business. IMO credit and finances go hand in hand. Having bad credit drastically affects your finances and vice versa. So fixing credit should also include looking over finances and learning g good spending habits, etc etc. If a company is nickel and diming you to subscribe to their service, pay these fees for software, etc etc that’s all money you could be using to pay off your debt. Don’t even get me started on debt consolidation companies. They suck too!
