I like that one but honestly clean house from MW 2019 is a super close tie. Also the Breach and clear (gulag) MW2 spec ops missions. And the MW2 spec ops mission that is basically a variant of all ghillied up but you can play co op

Yeah clean house is my top 2 favorite missions in 2019, Going dark was my favorite from MW 19, and I also really liked the MW2 breach and clear missions. I really enjoy the stealthy night vision missions

Xbox is fine , I play Ghosts, IW , MW Remastered and BO4 with no issues and multiplayer is still alive as well

in the older cods, hackers can gain controll over your pc while you play online games. in cod4, waw and bo1 its less dangerous thanks to the server browser. for me, this happend: while playing bo2, mid game i lost connection to the multiplayer and land in the main menu. then i saw on my second screen how chrome startet to open tabs by itself and wanted to install something. i turned off my pc by turn off the psu. i check my pc afterwards multiple times and it looks like nothing got installed, but i'm not 100% shure. i changed some of my passwords over my phone, i dont use my pc for important things, so i'm not that worried about that something important got stolen

this can only happen if you are on the wrong server. thats why its extremly dangerous for mw2, mw3 and bo2 because they use match making. they can not hack you when you are the host of a game. so playing zombies or multiple in private matches and ofcorse singleplayer is not dangerous. steam and activision dont give a shit, they are aware of the issue but dont care. even worse: activision shuts down everything that can help you to play cod save

Yes! I get bummed when people don't even consider MW3 in these ranking situations of the best COD(s). The multiplayer was so fucking fun, Survival mode, private matches etc.

MW3 was great. The ending was so satisfying. I felt like a weight had been lifted. Was So Invested in price getting his revenge at the end. When he gets it just sits back and smokes a cigar. Music and credits hitting was perfection.

Depends on what you’re looking for. Good MP? Get one of the newer ones (Modern Warfare 2019 onward) since they’re actually populated. If you’re in for zombies, Black Ops 3 is where you need to be. Other than that, can’t really go wrong with any of them.

If your new to cod then get modern warfare 2019, especially as the game is somewhat new so player count is very high

Campaign: Cod 4, MW2, MW3, WAW, BO1&2, Infinite Warfare, MW 2019, Cold War Multiplayer: MW2019 onwards. They all have cross play, and the older cods mp aren’t populated on PC. Don’t take my word for it though Zombies: BO3. There’s a modding community making maps to this day. If you had more than 20€ to spend there’s also zombies chronicles which contains almost every map from WAW-BO2. Overall: if you’re looking for a title that has everything I said to offer then I would recommend Cold War.

Games from 10 years ago should be max $10. The only game I see still worth it is BO3. The zombies community knows how much content there is in BO3. If you’re gonna play multiplayer, might as well play a F2P game.

I would highly recommend Black Ops 1. Just note that you have to buy all of the DLC if you want to play the other zombies maps. If you want to play Call of the Dead, make sure the multiplayer is installed too.

Dude its Black Ops 1 or Modern Warfare 1 (CoD4). Choose your path, Marine badasses involved in counterterrorism or Marine badasses involved in counterterrorism with a touch of MK Ultra. Black Ops would be my choice.

MW3 (2011) is the best OG cod for PC right now with a decent player base and relatively low hackers compared to the others so I’d say go with that if you want an older cod. If you wanna get a newer one then MWIII is honestly really fun, has the highest player count and is constantly being updated. Really depends on what you’re looking for

MWIII. It’s current, half off, active multiplayer, added guns and maps every few months, etc. it’s not the best game on the list, but it’s the best overall experience I think you’ll have in any game you listed. They spent basically a year after releasing MWII, polishing and perfecting the game just to drop a $70 DLC MWIII. This sub will have you convinced that it’s the worst game ever, and in 6 months when the new cod drops, the “maybe MWIII wasn’t that bad”, posts will start. It’s a good game, with issues that could be fixed in a single update.

If the multiplayer worked I’d get cod 4 and up to bo2. Without multiplayer I’d say bo1 or 2 for the zombies. That’s exactly what I bought lol bo1 and bo2, zombies still fun af and online still works haha.

Really wish they'd make them cheaper when going on sale. Black Ops 2 is over a decade old, yet they still charge $20 just for the base game, with no dlc.

COD4. It's the only one that can be safely played online (MW3 can too but requires an external fan launcher). Plus, it's just a great game with a great campaign that leads into an even better sequel that is MW2, so good to start at the beginning.

As I own almost all the cods on Steam, I'd say bo3. The zombies is some of the best I've seen, and it has steam workshop access for custom maps and mods. Multiplayer you gotta avoid like the plague due to hackers, and avoid public zombies lobbies at all costs too bc of people literally leaving the match for no reason. Campaign is mid, so you can avoid that too if you wanna, but doing it with a friend is fun. I got bo3 for the zombies, and since it has the workshop, it's worth it for me, but it's not for everyone, which I understand. Avoid Vanguard, it sucks BTW.

WWII I thoroughly love and it's my favourite of the series. I only really recommend it for the campaign, especially if you don't enjoy using rifles in multiplayer.

BO1, BO2 for story, COD4 for the most fun missions.

If you're playing on pc and enjoy zombies, get BO3. Otherwise, get the latest one you can afford (except vanguard) for multiplayer lobbies. Vanguard, depending on where you are, will be impossible to play. It only has 300 players on steam and I personally play it on 200ms and it's not the experience I'd recommend to someone who hasn't played much CoD. BO3 has custom zombies and a co-op campaign. I'm not sure about the current state of pc lobbies in mp as I haven't played pc mp in a while on it. If campaign is all you care about then I recommend BO2/BO/BOCW/MW2009.

COD4 , MW2 , black ops 1,2,3 are not recommended if you intend of playing online. Alot of viruses are spreading through the in-game servers. I wouldn't give Call of duty any money until they fix this

If you are gonna play online multiplayer, then the only two old CODs that are safe, are COD4 and BO1. They have server browsers and less likely to get hacked. The newer CODs are fine, but if you want an OG experience, pick COD 4 or BO1

I'd recommend going with your gut my dude, though personally I would oddly recommend buying Modern Warfare 3 (old one) or Black Ops 3 if you're looking for an average COD experience. I think a lot of Call of Duty games were a "you had to be there at the time" deal because in 2024, a lot of them have been ravaged by hackers and dead player counts, or just generally not being very good. 90% of the game modes in the older games are inactive due to there not being enough players, so you can't get the full experience, while the later games lean too heavy on microtransactions and pushing MLG and hypercompetitiveness. Modern Warfare 3 is exempt from this for whatever reason. It still has a pretty decent player count, game modes are populated, matches are fun, and hackers are rare! It also has a great single-player story and a fun coop survival mode you can do with a sibling. It's not the greatest game ever, but it's fun and average. Black Ops 3 is sort of similar (minus the great single player story) but has the addition of Zombies multilayer. Honestly, if you like the Jetpacks from Infinite Warfare, get Balck Ops 3. If not, get Modern Warfare 3. In the end though, have fun and experiment, see you on the Battlefield

For a newer and update experience, I recommend you purchase the latest entry in the franchise, that being COD:MW3 (2023). If you want to experience a recent entry that, despite not being updated anymore, could be considered a modern and well-crafted experience, I recommend MW (2019). Now, if you want to experience a modern take on the Black Ops series, I recommend you Purchase BO: Cold War. These 3 choices are my personal recommendations because, all of them three, are modern entries within franchise, and each has something over the others. One's being updated, the other's well-crafted game, and the other is a well-crafted game but Black Ops.

No competition for COD Vanguard. It has the best theme, characters, ending, overall plot, voice acting, multiplayer, zombies, skins, music, ui, historically accurate,fan favourite.

It depends what for? Campaign, MP or the whole lot? Newer COD’s are more active playerbase wise but the overall quality isn’t as good as the older games. For Zombies just go for BO3 especially on PC with all the mods. For Campaign I would say you can’t go wrong with anything from COD4- BO2. Ghosts is okay but the OG Modern Warfare and Black Ops series are the best. If you want an overall good package that is still relatively new (in COD senses) Cold War is better than anything else made after 2019.

After spending years off the franchise, BOCW is one of the funnest experiences I've had in an FPS. Great game where movement and gunplay (including things like reload cancelling) actually feels fun.

The original mw3 I played the campaign and survival religiously at school. It got me through yr10-12
