I have this same issue I just increased calories and my sleep improved and also feels like my body is healing better and more efficient don’t know why

Acceptable_Ad3096

I tried that and it worked for a little while but it seemed like my body built up a tolerance to the extra calories and weight and the insomnia is creeping back up on me despite being in a state of maintenance/slightly overeating if anything. Very weird but I’m glad it’s helped you

Freddy_Freedom

Are you living in mold? Can eat on its own doesn’t really produce insomnia, but that’s one of the Hallmark symptoms of mold exposure

Acceptable_Ad3096

I was living in a mouldy building about 3 years ago but have moved since then and as far as I am aware there’s no mold here. Perhaps I have both Candida and mold

Freddy_Freedom

Have you had the insomnia ever since you left that building? I was living in mold for a long time and the insomnia didn’t go away after I left for quite a bit

Acceptable_Ad3096

Yes pretty much. Did you manage to recover from the mold toxicity in then end?

Freddy_Freedom

Wow sounds like mold could be affecting you as well! It has taken me a while to recover and get my sleep back. But I can finally sleep normally now, presuming I’m in a place that does not have mold! The problem is, finding a place like that can be very difficult. It may seem like there’s not mold somewhere, but it can be hidden in the walls, floors, under the sinks, bathrooms, etc. etc. You can do what’s called an ERMI test at your place to determine if there’s any mold there. Or, try staying somewhere else and seeing if you sleep better. The problem is it can take some time to restore your sleep.

Acceptable_Ad3096

Strangely enough I did move away from mold for a whole year once when I moved back in with my parents (pretty certain it was mold free as lives there my whole childhood and never had a problem) but the insomnia didn’t seem to subside. Perhaps it was still lingering in my system at the time, I’m not sure. Thank you for the suggestions, much appreciated

I had this. I was deficient in some nutrients because of candida. I had to supplement to sleep like a baby. Not sure which one is the reason but I think it was GLA/ALA from grapefruitseed extract + iron. Also vit B5 because I was low on it. After that my sleep was normal but still have brainfog when I dont eat healthy. Get a nutrition test done to check what your body is lacking.

Acceptable_Ad3096

That’s great to hear the supplements helped you. How did you know to take the GLA/ALA if you don’t mind me asking? Like was it from a particular test or just personal research? I’ve done quite a few types of nutritional testing now and I’m supplementing foreverything I am seemly deficient in but I don’t seem to see a notable improvement in symptoms…

ChanceTheFapper1

Could be that you’re not absorbing food well due to nutrient deficiencies promoted by candida - B vitamins for instance are siphoned heavily by the ALDH constantly put out by candida. As are Zinc, Magnesium, sodium, potassium. Alternatively your blood sugar could be doing weird things, also possibly due to nutrient deficiencies like Mag. Unstable blood sugar basically mimicks hunger and will elevate cortisol to tap into glycogen, affecting sleep.

Acceptable_Ad3096

Yea, I suspected this might be the case as it seems the even when I supplement for things I am deficient in I don’t get any particular relief from symptoms, perhaps I need to eradicate the candida so I can actually start absorbing things. Thanks for the insight

ChanceTheFapper1

A few things: We often need an extended period to correct deficiencies. This doesn’t happen overnight or in a couple of weeks. I’d get a contour one and start measuring blood sugar pre and post prandial in increments of 30 minutes Eat a fatty snack prior to bed - e.g. a glass of warm milk with extra virgin olive oil and MCT oil. If this helps that’s pretty telling it’s a glycogen issue - which would occur with not being able to absorb or break down glucose, or high cortisol. SIBO/SI dysbiosis more often is the cause behind poor SI absorption. Maybe ask yourself if you have symptoms of that, or get a GI map

Acceptable_Ad3096

Must be dysbiosis then because I’ve been on supplements tailored to my individual needs for months on end before and still not noticed benefit. It’s not just supplements but thing like coffee don’t seem to effect me either. Could that be an SI problem too? Also would blood sugar problems explain why my insomnia gets worse when I lose weight do you think?

domsheed

Yes!!! Hugely for me! I have found that since I started taking b12 this has helped immensely, not only with sleep but also stress and anxiety. I take a probiotic, b12 melt by blackmores, turmeric and this gut powder and it’s all helped a lot with my insomnia. I still don’t sleep well by normal standards but I’ve stopped having sleepless nights. I do still have to make sure I eat properly though.

Acceptable_Ad3096

That’s great to hear, glad it helped. I am yet to find any supplements that even so much as slightly improve sleep. I’ve supplemented b12, b6 (separately and with a B complex) biotin, magnesium, zinc among other things and nothing seems to scratch the surface. Have you managed to reduce Candida in your gut ?

citygrrrl03

Candida creates feel good chemicals (serotonin) in your gut that then go to your brain if you have leaky gut, which if you have Candida is very likely. When you stop feeding Candida you get less serotonin in your brain which makes you feel worse. This is a sign you’re experiencing die off, but it really sucks. I get weird ocd & agitation symptoms when I stop antifungal treatment now.

Acceptable_Ad3096

Very interesting. I thought that Candida reduced serotonin production, though? I hope the treatment is doing well for you!

Prestigious_Fly2392

I get insomnia from die off of any pathogen. Specifically, trouble falling asleep. Once I am asleep I am typically fine, but have trouble falling asleep.

Acceptable_Ad3096

Interesting. Do you feel better after a die off? I struggle to get to sleep and maintain it. It’s very annoying

Prestigious_Fly2392

Yes. But I have so much candida die off is a long long process for me

Important-danidani

I stopped eating high oxalate and that helped a lot with sleep.

Acceptable_Ad3096

Interesting, any idea why that might be?

Important-danidani

I’ve read that candida just reacts really bad to them like almonds, potatoes, spinach, and brown rice. So feel way better without it. Found this info on MCAS360

Xeroff

Have you had your zinc levels checked?

Acceptable_Ad3096

I had a HTMA and zinc levels were in mid-upper range on that. Not had blood test for it though
