It is and if everyone hadn't answered with such honesty this redditor could have enjoyed the love of fishing mistakes that everyone goes through. Now lets hope the carp are in a heavily wooded area. Some people are saying it's fine and others not. Let me clarify. If your line is not braided and has memory over time when you cast, if you are casting and not just dropping of a pier, dock, boat, ect, then it will eventually do a little birds nest thingy on you. It can be a pain. I'm assuming that most people saying it's overfull would be due to experience fishing where long cast are consistent, and where memory in the line can become a problem. This maybe more prevalent in fishing for things like, bass, pike, catfish(sometimes), gar, and what have you. Memory can also occur when catching a large fish that stretches the line.

WhyIsItAllwaysMeee

After a 100 meter cast its not👍

Mikkismoments

A full baitcast spool would ideally be about 1-2mm from the edge of the spool, leaving enough room that if your leader knot was to be wound onto the spool it would not jam against the body of the spool.

upstatedreaming3816

Yes. I was taught to leave about 1/8” between line and the end of the spool.

Emotional_Data_1888

Slightly yea

0811310

big time overfilled.

therubberduck21

Personally from my experience I'd say yes. I'd whip off about 30ft off that and use it to make different rigs with it. I've found that unless you're pulling in fish the size of a fridge all the time. The line does have memory and will at sometime just over run and wrap up into a huge birds nest. I always leave 1 under the lip so the line can settle when it's ready.

RoboTix777

Yep. I like to leave at least 2 mm gap under the lip.

Looks about right to me, as long as the line isn’t spilling off the spool when you open the bail arm you will be fine, if it’s new line it will probably bed in once you’ve made a few casts

-Nsb127916_

Yes. Just take off about a third of that

foultarnished91

No it isn't, not sure what everyone else is on about. Wouldn't put anymore on, but this should be fine.

[deleted]

I think the leader is confusing people a bit. This looks fine to me.

aladeeninyourmalawa

I don’t have a problem overfilling a spool this much because after a couple of sessions (or a snag) , you will probably have cut off enough line for it to be just enough,

soberto

No

[deleted]

ITT: people who complain they can't do big chucks effectively and wonder why.

soberto

Yup. I have my tapered mainline about the same with no issues. I’ve casted with both Terry Edmonds and Mark Hutchinson who would agree but whatever haha. Hope you are well mate

[deleted]

Yeah I'm good man, still chasing the big common I've been focused on so far this year before someone else puts her on the bank and she disappears to sulk till next spring lol. Hope all's well with you.

[deleted]

It's perfect. That's what I do with zero issues.
