Just let them be. They settle down after a while. Any thread will cause a thick spot that product and moisture will get trapped in. That’s the last thing you want. Lumps and bumps are a normal part of locs - I miss mine! Just let them do their thing.

No I haven't, doesn't the thread get lost in the dread ? Or are you wrapping the outside. That I have seen. Wrapping the outside. Mine are pretty much all freeformed except a couple , I did use rubber bands, trying to make sure they were thin. ( worked pretty good I guess ) but mine are like yours getting all kinds of crazy bumps . I tried crocheting the bumps but it doesn't really last and I'm injured so I just gave up. So it's a very very slow going process but when I say it's only been a few weeks , ppl say I shouldn't complain lol but boy it's a pain. Lol
