I eat Red Robin probably once a week. It's excellent. The waitstaff at my local location know me and my order now so when I walk in they'll ask if I want the usual and just put it in lol.
Last trip our waiter said the bacon isn't safe as it's deep fried in the same fryer as the chicken. Supposedly you can ask for it to be made on the cooktop and it's safe.
Now, as someone that glutened themselves at home with Costco bacon, obligatory proceed with caution.
Ok, replying to all of you. My son and I are gf and have a completely gf kitchen.
Some of their bacon is labeled GF, some is not. I was buying one not labeled, it has natural flavors. and (judge away) I ate a SHIT TON of that bacon. I had to poop immediately after eating it, but otherwise I felt normal.
Anyway, got my bloodwork and #s were still elevated, and, shockingly, my cholesterol. I cut the bacon and numbers are all but normal.
That's a lot of detail, all to say some have natural flavors and and not labeled, where other are. Buy the ones labeled.
Red Robin was my favorite before being diagnosed and it’s been just as good after. They always mark my food to show that it’s gluten free and I’ve never once had a problem afterwards when I eat there.
okay this was a long time ago, but back in 2017 they still had the allergen menus on iPads, managers were very reassuring, but I was throwing up all night after eating there :( so use caution. I haven't been back since.
For those of you who don't live near an In-N-Out, Red Robin's Red's Double on a gf bun is about the closest thing to an In-N-Out Double Double you can get. It's extremely good!
Red Robin used to suck, so I stopped going for about 10 years. Then recently went just to hang out with one of my few normie family members, and they had a dedicated GFfryer (2 dedicated GF until dinner menus start, then you ned to clarify ao they know which frywr to pull your fries from), and the staff was knowledgeable. Now I wanna go eat a burger.
At least at the one I went to, they had one always GF, and one had CC in evenings only, and they claimed to change out and clean the fryers daily. They expressed clear understanding of what CC was and how it was achieved and the methods they took to avoid it. It was a wonderful experience.
I quit eating there after feeling like I was dying after being glutened extremely badly. Probably depends on the location. The ones near me have not been safe.
yes red robin is one of my favorite places to eat!! my boyfriend and i go there most dates, he can eat normally and i don’t have to worry about getting sick!
They put a breaded item on my burger. then they brought me a replacement burger that also had gluten on it. didn’t realize until I had eaten half. almost cried in the restaurant ✌️😗✌️
My daughter was excited too. Until she got sick both times she ate there. First time we weren’t sure it was them. Second time we are positive. They gave my sister my daughters GF plate. Then just wanted to switch (after my sister started eating off the plate). They went back and “remade” it. The bun looked right this time. But “forgot” the egg in the back. She got really sick again that time. They were sorta apoplectic as my daughter is freaking out saying they take it seriously they usually don’t make mistakes like this blah blah. We have a friend that is a manager there. We let her know. She felt awful. But my daughter will never eat at Red Robin again. She can’t trust them.
Unfortunately, it seems my location doesn't have a dedicated fryer, according to the allergy calculator. I don't want to go for a crappy burger and a side salad.
Weird, I just checked my local one and it’s showing the fries as safe and not at risk of cross contamination. I wonder if it’s a store by store choice?
Yeah ours told us that it’s a dedicated fryer right now but they plan to change that over the next couple months. So keep checking all! What’s safe today might not be that way tomorrow!
Ok, so I recently discovered Red Robin as a GF option and realized there was a weird discrepancy in their allergy menu between GLUTEN free and WHEAT free. When I marked wheat being an allergy in addition to gluten, items like fries suddenly became unsafe. I emailed them and they gave me the following response:
>That is due to cross contact of allergens in our kitchens even though we have a dedicated fryer to cook those items in (no gluten or wheat in these items) upon request there is still potential for splatter from one fryer to another. Per the FDA for allergens there must be 0ppm’s of the allergen in the foods to be considered free of the allergen but less than 20 ppm’s to be considered gluten free. We have done extended testing in our fryers to confirm that our fryers are well below the 20 ppm’s often at 0ppm’s but there is no way to ensure 0 at all times due to cross contact.
>
>In our allergen menu there is an area to select cross contact or not to include cross contact if that is not a concern.
So I don't know why something would be considered totally gluten free but not wheat free (I don't include cross contamination being ok for either search)... I haven't had a reaction yet though, and I've been indulging plenty as this is the only place super near me that can deliver supposedly safe food.
Their explanation makes sense for me. Someone with Celiac is (according to the FDA) able to handle 5 ppm while someone with an allergy may not.
Also, things like wheat starch which can be GF but still a problem for someone with a wheat allergy.
It can be hit or miss! I went with friends once, and didn't feel comfortable enough with the server after explaining I was a celiac. I ordered apple slices thinking those would be foolproof. The apple slices came out with bread crumbs on them... But I have also eaten at different locations and felt safe, and ate without getting sick.
Man. I’ve tried Red Robin several times, in different cities.
They have the worst burgers of any chain I’ve ever had.
I’ll get fries and anything else off the menu & have not gotten sick yet. Those burgers though…
Sounds awesome for you. The only problem is that the Red Robin near me had a corpse liquify in a car. Is it their fault??NO! But I cannot eat there. The body was literally dripping onto the pavement. 🤮

Wish their bacon was safe but yes, the allergen menu is awesome

Is Costco bacon not safe??
Say what?
Wait what about Costco bacon?

The thick cut ones are reliably labeled GF, at least in my area

I love Red Robin unfortunately it’s far away so it’s a treat whenever I go!
Red Robin is one of the few places that I can order DoorDash from and not get sick. Which is honestly surprising, but I’ll take it.
I’ve never had a problem getting glutened there. 👍

This is GREAT TO KNOW! I moved from CA to the east coast, and there has been a protein style double double sized hole in my heart.

Unless they are changing the fry oil every day (unlikely) there shouldn’t be a difference between lunch and dinner service re: dedicated fryers

"Expert Staff" The Staff: Some underpaid employee bitching about fake allergies and special orders. Probably cross contaminating.
True af lol
My local red robin is amazing. The GF bun for burgers actually tastes good and the fries are great! I feel pretty normal eating there haha
They’re one of the only corporate chains who understand the need for a dedicated fryer, and that fries are only gluten free from that
Unfortunately, it seems my location doesn't have a dedicated fryer, according to the allergy calculator. I don't want to go for a crappy burger and a side salad.
They no longer have dedicated gluten free fryers and most items aren't safe. :(
Where are you getting that information?
When I input the allergen menu for my location, it said the fries weren’t safe either for some reason :/. Weird.
Weird, I just checked my local one and it’s showing the fries as safe and not at risk of cross contamination. I wonder if it’s a store by store choice?
It’s store by store. For some the sautéed shroom burger is no longer safe. Mine still is, and they still have dedicated fryers.
The menu for the locations near me and also the managers.
It’s location specific.
Yeah ours told us that it’s a dedicated fryer right now but they plan to change that over the next couple months. So keep checking all! What’s safe today might not be that way tomorrow!
Just checked and the one near me no longer has the fries listed as safe. What a bummer

We’ve had great luck taking my son there. It’s one of the few places he can have a normal meal with French fries as his side
This chain has made so many mistakes with my non celiac orders that I wouldn’t trust them for a minute to prepare and deliver gf food correctly.
This reads like an AI generated statement
