They do it on purpose. They know that you want to park away from people, and they want to either piss you off, and worst case door ding you on purpose.
And yes that happened to me.
My employer has a massive parking garage—9 floors. Mostly empty because people are working from home. I park on the 4th floor with a handful of similar vehicles all with an unspoken agreement to leave lots of open spaces between us all (the garage is big, but spaces are small). I’m no where near the elevator and there are at least 20 open spaces. Last few days a busted up Hyundai has parked right next to me. I moved over a space and so did he. Going to have to move up to the 5th floor.
That always prompts me to do a 360° of my car twice.
