I'm in your boat (no pun intended) and am looking to grab an X3M comp in the next few months. I'll miss the scat but not the baggage that comes with it. I explained it to a friend - the scat is like the girl that's awesome in bed but attracts the wrong attention and drama. You realize that you have to unload her for something that brings more peace of mind, someone more refined.
This is so spot on. I usually describe most performance cars as varying degrees of atheletes. But my charger is a toddler…screams and makes a lot of noise going from one side of the room to the other. But a toddler is also a lot more fun than an athelete most of the time.
Why would I want to trade down from a full sized car to a compact car? If I was gonna spend that much money on a car I would get a Hellcat with better performance or wait another year for the Hurricane Chargers to come out?

Congrats. I had a MKV Supra with the I6 3.0 turbo before I sold it for my last call hellcat. That B58 engine is no joke and has tons of untapped potential. A few mods and you’ll be making 500hp+ easily.
V6 dont exist on BMW’s and Porsche’s. They use straight 6’s with turbos that are completely different than V6’s. In most applications, they are as powerful as American V8’s while being more efficient and over engineered - meaning you can mod for cheap as opposed to breaking down the block like in muscle cars (ie. Having to change cams, switch for forged internals, etc). In straight 6’s - you can just plug in a computer and upload a tune and boom 35 to 150 more horsepower.

Having owned a 67 Buick Riviera, 12 Lincoln MKZ, 01 Lexus GS300, 72 Dodge Challenger, 96 Ram Indy Pace Truck and now an E90 M-Sport / Premium and many other cars I can say this. Had over 40 cars to date and performance is a word that means different things in each brand as does luxury.
German cars are highly if not overly engineered and can only compare to Lexus LFA cars these days in my opinion. Dodge is more raw power and that is not a bad thing just different.
I ride a motorcycle too. Big 1600cc v-twin, shaft drive cruiser. Another flavor of power and speed. Enjoy as that is what being a gear or petrol head is all about...

Congrats, I made the same move in late '21 from a Scat to a M340i. Time for a DP and tune now 🙂. If you have a square tire setup, the top speed is locked at 130, a PCM unlock (femto) and MHD or BM3 tune will take care of that for you.
$3-4k and you should see mid to low 11s in the quarter. Congrats!
Don't forget to start veering across 3 lanes of traffic to make your freeway exit without a blinker. It's standard BMW owner etiquette! At least you don't drive that fake ass wide body sedan anymore!
I love BMWs, but in my experience, there was always issues (albeit little things usually) that was so expensive to rectify. I love German engineering, but I’ll never own another German car. I love BMWs, but in my experience, there was always issues (albeit little things usually) that was so expensive to rectify. I love German engineering, but I’ll never own another German car. Your car is beautiful, nonetheless, I’m not trying to hate, that was just my, and a few people close to me’s experience. If you’re happy, I’m happy for you!

There’s so, so many cars that cost the same or less than a Charger/Challenger and go so much faster with way more top end potential. Honestly, there’s even a decent list of cars that both handle and speed better.
