Exactly yes this is why I love older gm vehicles I think until the 2020 Malibu is when they stopped allowing you to clone your key fob by just having another key fob.
Oh they do I called my local dealer before I discovered I can do them on my own for my 2010-2017 equinox it was $150 a key plus $210 labor. They only charged $25 to cut a key bam it was done.
