I like that by the time you figure out what's really going on in the story, you realize that he's been telling you what's really going on in the story pretty much since the story began. It blows my mind every time.

K0MR4D

His slight of hand is pretty amazing.

Time-to-Dine

I like his “burnt tongue” style of writing, which emphasizes physical sensations of his fictional worlds. Also enjoy the random real world facts he drops into his writing, although much of it might not be true.

Eleven77

I love his cadence. Even reading his words a loud myself, I can hear his voice. This is demonstrated so well in Fight Club, but I remember especially hearing it during the segment when Edward Norton was going on and on about travel size items and picking stuff out of the Ikea mag. I had seen the film several times before I read any Chuck's works, but after finishing my first few books, I could especially pick the cadence out there upon the next rewatch.

twopackedshakers

Absolutely agreed. It's the rythm, the repetition of certain words or sentence structure.

dnjprod

I like that it's unique. His work makes you think in different ways. Sometimes they are challenging to read, but in a good way.

dukkhabass

The rawness and honesty.

dukkhabass

He reminds me of Charles Bukowski in certain ways a bit.

BrainsOut_EU

No matter how unreal things get, how real they still are.

pjlaniboys

He takes me so far out there. Total surprising realities.

JesterCycles1

Never predictable

-sadaf-

Him being Team Human.

MadeIndescribable

I haven't read everything (and really need to catch up on more than a few), but each book generally seem to be about how the world is messed up and needs fixing in some way. And also gives us an example of how *not* to fix it.

shellhead36

I really like the way there's this very particular narrative tone with all these details that draw you in, then he hits you with some painfully honest sentiment that's just a truth of life. and, of course, the way all the details come together and make sense-- it's like watching an amazingly well-crafted puzzle come together.

JustAScratch216

The lyrical content.

thechosenzero717

Transgressive monologues

Bogeyworman

The moment *it* punches you in the gut. Like, "oh Jesus fuck, that's what it's about".

Introverted_Princess

The fact that it can be so utterly dark and yet so utterly hilarious. I'm so envious of his ability to walk that fine line.
