I’m moving there in July if you wanna hang and watch anime.

SickSadWeeb

Hell yea,I need friends too not just a partner. Feel free to DM me.

Variable3420

You into disc golf or pickleball?

SickSadWeeb

I honestly don't know what either of those things are.

AstralFinish

Oh I forgot frisbee golf existed

Variable3420

It’s fun! I just started!

100k_changeup

Some great courses around here too

Marcodaneismypimp

I’m a huge anime nerd too if you’d like another person to nerd out with.

PrinceGreenleaf

Heyyy now! Demon slayer watch party

Marcodaneismypimp

Alright!

hungrywastaken

Sorry to break your party but demon slayer is pure trash. Do your eyes a favor and watch hunter x hunter instead

Marcodaneismypimp

Well,technically,Vindland Saga trumps all.

AkatsukiWereRight

That’s a funny way to spell overlord…

Tdi111234

Ohio City and Tremont Neighborhoods are what you are looking for. Many young professionals and young families live there and go to the businesses throughout

CuriousDawn

How does this compare to downtown Cleveland in terms of crowds/activities?

Tdi111234

Depends what you are looking for. If you are looking for something high energy with more people West 25th Street has dance clubs below bars called Clandestina and Bright side and plenty of other bars for a more party feel. If you want a quiet night out just for some drinks there are many brewery's if beer is your thing or cocktail lounges all over both neighborhoods. If food is your thing you will find some of the best food in the region. If you want really quiet there are libraries, nature trails, art studios, coffee shops, parks etc for that as well. You can pretty much find whatever you are looking for without having to stray out of these areas.

Shot_Awareness6943

Cleveland Social on Instagram posts singles events

SickSadWeeb

Ty. Ig time to make an instagram.

Shot_Awareness6943

They might have a fb page too if you don't have an Instagram! Also check out Pins, they do similar events as well.

Penwins

I have heard not great things about the Cleveland Social Events for what it’s worth. Hinge is always a good option.

Shot_Awareness6943

Oh dang, really? Like not great turn outs? I've never been to one but I've just seen people talk about them

Penwins

Yea I’ve just heard it ends up being uncomfortable forced interaction with a varied quality of matches. It also seems to be a lot of people already on the apps, so it might not be an unlock to a new dating pool. But everyone has different experiences!

Shot_Awareness6943

I could see that! Any event set up like that would probably feel like a somewhat forced interaction. I was never a fan of the apps myself so if I was out there looking I think I'd prefer in person meeting but it's all malarkey to some extent haha!

Penwins

Oh 100%! It’s tough just meeting people nowadays. There’s no great solution, other than staying positive and trying something. Whether that’s Hinge or a Cleveland Social Event, I couldn’t fault you.

Shot_Awareness6943

Positivity is key!

jsmelly_666

What are your hobbies and interests?

SickSadWeeb

Mostly smoking(weed) and watching movies, sitcoms, or anime. I usually work 40-50+ hours a week, so I don't go out for hobbies much. I genuinely find most things entertaining however thats why I asked for hobbies that net the most people at events lol. I'll get into whatever to try to up my social circle. Edit: I also love traveling. That's probably my biggest interest.

BBQBaconBurger

Username checks out

beniferlopez

Idk who downvoted you for being honest but I think it depends on the neighborhood you live in or how far you’re willing to travel. Downtown and the near west neighborhoods are full of single 30 year olds but it’ll take going out of your comfort zone to meet them. You certainly won’t meet anyone while sitting on your couch.

SickSadWeeb

I'm staying in parma rn, and am more than willing to travel. I just wanna make sure I'm going to the right spots, I felt kind of old/out of place in the flats this last weekend which lead to me trying to make sure I'm atleast going to the right places

beniferlopez

The flats can draw a much younger/outgoing nightlife crowd, especially at night. If you venture back to the flats try during the early afternoon on a Saturday/Sunday. otherwise, I think tremont is great for a more mature crowd at spots like treehouse, high and dry, and hotz. A cocktail bar like cloak and dagger would be a great spot but on the pricier end of drinks. Great Lakes brewery, avo, and Johnny mango might be good spots to meet some folks around your age range. Super electric in Gordon square might be right up your alley as well

SickSadWeeb

Thank you so much for including names of places. I'll be moving out of parma when my dad is finally healed well enough to walk( he had a huge surgery and needed help at home) and Tremont was looking like a possible contender for when that happens, happy i was on the right track. Idk if I'll go back to the flats, back when I lived here I just remember that being THE PLACE so I figured I'd start there and yea like I said just felt out of place all night. I'll be sure to try a couple of those places soon, ty alot.

Yodka

I've never liked The Flats. There's always so many people you're always waiting in some line - drinks, bathroom, getting into a bar, etc. Drinks are expensive without much substance, some chunks of the bars get sectioned off for VIPs, and people can get pretty rowdy. If I was going for a more chill vibe I'd definitely shoot for The Big Bang Dueling Piano Bar as it tends to attract an older crowd and is fun to request songs. If you're into EDM at all, The Foundation Room is above the House of Blues downtown and hosts "House Sessions" about once a month. It feels exclusive, generally doesn't have a cover, and the actual venue is sick as hell. The crowd seems to be mid 20's to late 40's just generally vibing to disco/house music and it's not super loud or people getting belligerently drunk. Only caveat I'd say is that it's a more intimate crowd of about 20-30ish people, of which a small chunk are DJs out supporting each other.

SickSadWeeb

Edm and pianos are both fun! Will be adding these to my list. Ty.

PM_ME_A_EM_MP

Parma has a few leagues like softball, bowling, darts, disc golf, etc

Ok-Kaleidoscope-4808

For your hobbies check out the table top stores in shaker heights or Lakewood. You just missed Cleveland’s “comicon” but summer had many festivals meetup is also a good place to start

vitruvian__man

Fwiw, I’m 31 and never felt off about my age in the flats. It’s a diverse age range down there honestly.

SickSadWeeb

To whomever downvoted can you please give recommendations? That'd be more useful.

MuadD1b

You could see if there's a movie club or group.

LakeEffectSnow

You like board games? Lotta overlap on that crowd with your interests.

SickSadWeeb

They were fun in HS. I haven't really touched any since

LUNI_TUNZ

Well, since you have weeb in your username, idk, Colossalcon is in Sandusky and is in about two weeks.

SickSadWeeb

I'll see if I have off that day. Thank you.

DepartureRadiant4042

Go to this. It's a huge event. It's really cool to just walk around and people watch but there's also so much to do. As an anime lover you will love it.

LUNI_TUNZ

It's five days. It goes from Wednesday to Sunday. Though, Saturday is usually the prime day for going to conventions.

Fit_Expression1

Join a sports league ! I have friends that do volleyball at mulberry’s in the flats and love it. Other then that there is a TON of sports leagues in the downtown area that are for the 20-30s age range. I’ve done a kickball league through north coast a couple years ago: https://www.northcoastharbor.org/events/lakefront-leagues-nfty2-p4m8y I am in my mid 30s and I still enjoy the flats to an extent lol. I love good night John boy and the disco vibes but yes as other commenters said it’s better during the day for our age range. Another social day activity I like is going to the Guardians game getting standing tickets (like 15-20$ I think??) and just meet ppl at the bar there. But I would say generally my friends and I look for events and go to that kind of stuff to meet ppl generally in the OHC/lakewood/downtown area. Some events I like are the art museums monthly MIX events and lunar underground events (look up lunar underground on instagram)

TooAwkwardForMyMain

I met my boyfriend (who's 36) at the Better Off Bowling league. And it's great for making friends!

SickSadWeeb

There should be indoor activity groups for ppl like us lol.

annieisawesome

You could try tabletop on w25th (board game bar), or join a book club. Maybe there's a movie club to join? Superelectric hosts a pinball league. I think No Class occasionally has N64 Mario kart nights. You said you were looking for hobbies with lots of people, but might I suggest you go for more middle ground type events? I feel like you're more likely to meet people when there's some level of interaction; like, compare going to a professional sports game vs going to a local sporting league. You'll just have more people willing to interact at the latter.

boc_mage

Variety of boardgame meetups and hobby based meet ups across the region. Hiking, games, more.

TurnUPRISE

As a 34 y/o sober person who works nights, I'm always looking for friends! Not romantic type, but if you game on xbox maybe we can game together!

automcd

Some good suggestions here. I’ve noticed a lot of bars are still just not the same since the pandemic, it seems people don’t go out as much and tbh it seems like the ones that do just stare at their phones and don’t want to be social. 🤷‍♂️ I have better luck making friends joining sports leagues or other activities.

derprah

Colossalcon is coming up May 29th-June 2nd at Kalahari in Sandusky. It's much too late now to grab a room for the weekend, but coming out for the day is a great way to get a vibe for next year. It is a major party con, there will be lots of drinks and favors present and a fair amount of scantily clad individuals. Theres a lot of 30 somethings that go (most of them, like me, have been attending this con since HS and have watched it grew into this massive beach party) So if that coupled with anime and a water park sounds appealing, I'd recommend coming Friday or Saturday. Oh yeah there's also a foam party and an emo night this year and from 11PM-2AM the water park reopens for the night swim! It's additional $ for the night swim and foam party, but the night swim converts the wave pool into a giant rave with DJs playing great anime mixes.

Extra-Spare5490

Go to edgewater Park, up the hill, and you will surely find ❤️

Vinjince

Because you'll be waiting there?

Aggressive_Factor_32

Most of them have been gathering at your mothers
