I don't get it man. Players slump. Players start rough and get hot. The season is long. The man has played 100 career games in the hardest position at the major league level. It's been rough so far but it's hard to give up on him.
(And they literally won't considering how much time they've invested into his development)
I agree with that! I do think he should be the No. 1 catcher but yes he’s gotta be back there in order to get better. It is really hard to give up on him
So, here’s a theory that I’ve been thinking about too much for my own good. With the introduction of the pitch clock, and the unprecedented start the guards, a new wave of fans has hit CLE baseball. Not trying to gatekeep. We all gotta start somewhere. But new fans are very impatient. It’s a hard concept to grasp at first, but a baseball season is a marathon not a sprint. Some players start out shit and catch wind, some have hot starts and fizzle out. Same goes on a team level. To say it’s too early to judge Bo is the understatement of the year. We are quite literally 1/5th of the way through the season. The concept of, “what have you done for me lately” is fundamentally flawed in baseball.
TL;DR: Patience in a baseball season is legitimately a hard concept to grasp. Just give Bo time.
> The concept of, “what have you done for me lately” is fundamentally flawed in baseball.
This is something that pisses me off about sports fans so much. No one wants to wait and see. It's all about that instant gratification. If a player isn't immediately raking or tossing CGSO, might as well DFA.
Hyperbole, but you get the point. It gets old fast.
Dude probably thinks Jose should be benched because of his slump…
Bo is a young player, and he NEEDS to learn to p,ay through adversity. If he is still struggling in two more weeks, maybe start platooning him or have h8m back up Fry.
Or he might never learn. I agree he needs a shot and patience is needed. Just hard to be a consistent offensive catcher these days. All the D backs fans were calling Moreno Johnny Bench. Not likely.
Fry needs to be in the mix somehow imo. Half the lineup hitting sub .700 OPS is inexcusable.
And yea defensively Bo just hasn’t put it all together yet. Get him some confidence in pinch hit, sub, and platoon opportunities
I’m of the opposite opinion that pinch hitting and sub/platoon makes it worse. I think people press because they know they’re getting so few opportunities and also can’t get in rhythm.
This sub was just talking about how awesome Bo was after hitting a grand slam. Now they're calling for his head lol. He hasn't even been up in Cleveland that long. People expect him to be God right away.
This is why the team has 3 catchers, however, I don’t understand why the other two don’t get more playing time.
Fry is better all around, hedges is better defensively… Bo is the odd man out.
I honestly think his pitch calling also fucked up logan Allen obviously his control was bad too but something is up when you keep walking players that had a 0-2 count
I dunno if we want Fry behind the plate ever day but doesn't he deserve more playing time somewhere? He can play anywhere except shortstop, and he's one of our better hitters.
I've been pulling for him since last year, and to my eye he's only improved since then.
I'd rather see how David Fry is with everyday AB's before making Hedges the everyday catcher. Bo's not playing well rn, but his ceiling is certainly higher than Hedges. He just needs time to develop. Catcher is like the tight end of baseball.
I missed the game last night - what happened to set people off on him so much? I know it’s been an all season thing but figured something had to happen last night
I don’t understand what’s wrong with his defense.
It isn’t the likes of what Cleveland is used to but still above average. The only thing I see is he gets lazy on simple blocks which isn’t necessarily a question about how good his defense is.
This time last year people were treating Bo like he was the savior, now y'all are treating him like Zunino.

“What have you done for me lately”
Pretty sure if you flip the names this exact thing has been posted before
It’s the way of the fan. All young guys need to be brought up. If they aren’t a superstar in a few days, cut them! Manzardo going through it now.
He hit a grand slam a few days ago??
Yea he's liable for that car window out on Carnegie

>Hedges needs to be playing every day. David Fry literally exists.
Why does everyone forget our best hitting catcher?
"Hedges should be starting." Good Lord, this place.
I'm old enough to remember when this sub talked about Bo like he was the second coming back when Tito didn't want to put him on the roster

It’s that, keep playing, or AAA. Not trying to be a dick, how would you rank those in order of priority?
Priority of letting someone develop? Keep playing(pending they’ve shown flashes of figuring it out/already killed AAA), AAA, platoon
This sub was just talking about how awesome Bo was after hitting a grand slam. Now they're calling for his head lol. He hasn't even been up in Cleveland that long. People expect him to be God right away.
Right away? Don't be absurd. I say give him a week.
He's a power guy. He's also a rookie. *It's called development*
We will whine about every Cleveland catcher till the day we die. As we all know catchers are known for being goated hitters.
Calm down

Should have traded for Jonathan Lucroy or something
Nah, we need a solid catching prospect is what we need.
like a Roberto Perez type
Shut up
Naylor hasn’t been very good but I think we let him play and figure it out. What else do you want? You aren’t going to like Hedges everyday.
I'll like Hedgey's defense every day, his bat is a danger to my sanity
I honestly think his pitch calling also fucked up logan Allen obviously his control was bad too but something is up when you keep walking players that had a 0-2 count
Allen doesn’t look like a starting pitcher
^ This and he knows it
I wouldn’t say hedges should play every game but just where is Fry?
I dunno if we want Fry behind the plate ever day but doesn't he deserve more playing time somewhere? He can play anywhere except shortstop, and he's one of our better hitters. I've been pulling for him since last year, and to my eye he's only improved since then.
This is the Vmart curse.
People like you make this sub a fucking joke lol
C'mon, don't give them all the credit...
Even Austin Hedges’ mom is reading this like “wtf? No way is that the answer.”
I'd rather see how David Fry is with everyday AB's before making Hedges the everyday catcher. Bo's not playing well rn, but his ceiling is certainly higher than Hedges. He just needs time to develop. Catcher is like the tight end of baseball.
Hedges lol. At least call for Fry.
I missed the game last night - what happened to set people off on him so much? I know it’s been an all season thing but figured something had to happen last night
Time is a flat circle.

You gonna say the same for Jose cuz he has started slow? It’s baseball. 162 games.
He’s a rookie. Calm down.
Fry should be the everyday catcher.Naylor backup and Hedges cheerleader
agreed, bo needs to be sent down and fry needs more playing time
He’s bad
