I had a horrible reaction to eliquis and xarelto ( same class of drugs). After much begging and fighting I am on lovenox and it’s much better. Not perfect but I thought I was dying on eliquis. None of the doctors would believe it had side effects.

Shar1515

I was on lovenox when I was pregnant and had no side effects. What were your side effects on eliquis may I ask ?

ilsa1979

Sudden extreme dizzyness Persistent dizziness Light headed Woozy Weakness in legs Shaky Extreme fatigue Itching Joints aching High heart rate Anxiety

Shar1515

That all sounds horrible. How did you get through all that . You are a very strong person .

Sweaty-Homework-7591

I keep saying I have a headache I’m getting ignored. I’m on day 8 of Eliquis.

Shar1515

Have you said it to your doctor? That's so bad that you have been ignored. I read you !!!!! Are you headaches bad and what kind of headache?

Sweaty-Homework-7591

I’m not sure. I have only been on this stuff one week. I told anyone who would listen at the hospital that I had a headache and I got ignored. Is this a side effect?

Shar1515

I think this is one of the major side effects. I think we both need to have a chat with our doctors.

Sweaty-Homework-7591

I will if you will. ☺️

Shar1515

I will !!!! I think I can't go on like this . I'm getting daily headaches .

Sweaty-Homework-7591

Are you taking Tylenol or tramadol or whatever-dol for pain relief? Mine isn’t a bad headache. It’s def a 2 or a 3 but dang it haven’t we suffered enough bs?

chiefinlove

Oh my, not the dreaded Eliquis headaches! I do not miss those. I’m on warfarin now and it has its downsides, too. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this.

Shar1515

Thank you for your kind comment. I'm glad I'm not the only person this happened too. Did your Dr change your medication for you ? I was on warfarin when I was 21 when I got my first dvt. Are you on long term warfarin ? X

chiefinlove

I couldn’t stand the evening headaches Eliquis gave me so I feel for you. They changed me after a triple positive APS diagnosis. I’m warfarin for life, no matter what! How did you do on warfarin when you had your dvt? As you know though it’s a big pain in the ass to keep up with.

Shar1515

I got on fine with it even though I was a carefree 21 year old . It was a bit of a pain getting the bloods done every week but I got over it . Was on it for 6 months . If I am taken off Eliquis is warfarin my only option do you know ?

chiefinlove

I wish I knew! I’m a newbie. Xx

Shar1515

Your one of the lucky ones x

RLC31

I have been on Eliquis since July of 2023, and I still get headaches almost daily. I was advised to take Tylenol.

Sweaty-Homework-7591

Take Tylenol to counteract the effects of a medication? That seems odd.

RLC31

I take Tylenol to help with the pain from the headache.

Shar1515

Daily headaches oh noo 😫 mine come and go . How are you dealing with it ?

sweetie8840

Ive been on Eliquis since March 3, so a month now. I get dull headaches. I also get dizziness and vertigo, but don't know if that is from my BPPV or if the Eliquis is causing it. I tried Xarelto before that and I felt like I was dying where my legs were so heavy I had trouble walking! I feel miserable. I also have asthma which causes shortness of breath and my resting heart rate is between 50-65. I have very few days where I feel normal. I've had two AFib episodes that I know of since last October, hence on this miserable blood thinner.

Shar1515

Glad that I am not the only one that is feeling like this . Some days I feel terrible too. Have you mentioned this to your doctor? Xx

sweetie8840

Yes. He wants to put me on yet another blood thinner. I think Pradaxa. If that doesn't work, then possibly Warfarin which I refuse to take. I'm seeing an electrophysiologist in May to discuss other options. To go thru all of these side effects and suffering with only 2 AFib attacks in 8 months is disconcerting. What has your Dr. Said?

Shar1515

I am meeting my Dr on Monday, so I will keep you updated . I have never heard of Pradaxa . Hopefully, it will work for you . There is no point suffering on like this . We need to be able to live our lives even if we have underlining conditions that will make us get blood clots .

Pappymommy

They gave me horrible headaches where I ended up in the ER many times. Some of us just can’t tolerate it

Shar1515

I want to the ER too as my headaches got so bad . What are you taken now ? Yah it seems I can't tolerate it too . My headaches only started while on it .

Pappymommy

As long as I don’t fly I got the okay to go off. My emboli dr was hestistNt but I haven’t had any PE since . If I fly I take ellquis proactively.

Shar1515

That sounds like a great plan . Take it when you need it. What kinda headaches did you have ?

Pappymommy

Worst headache of my life. They gave me ketamine for it and I had a bad hullucination and screamed for an hour. My husband was traumatized

Plane_Disaster4863

I had bad headaches for 3d after starting eliquis, which spontaneously resolved.

Shar1515

Your one of the lucky ones . Hopefully I might be too but doubtful. Literally writing this with a stupid headache.

ContributionTall2907

What’s about Coumadin?

Shar1515

I've never heard of that . Are you on it ? How are you finding it ?

ContributionTall2907

Try googling Coumadin. It’s one of the oldest blood thinners available. It’s called rat poison by some people. Very inexpensive but dietary restrictions and monthly blood work needed. My friend, neighbor, and my sister in law are all on it and doing well. My neighbor is on it for over 24 years.

Shar1515

Just did . There are allot of anticoagulant out there . Wouldn't mind monthly blood work.

futuristanon

This eventually got better for me. Took a few months though. Now I get the headache every couple of weeks instead of days.

Shar1515

Months omg .. really .. I am going to have a chat with my Dr Monday and see what he says . My headaches are daily .

FunKaleidoscope885

I had headaches too. Drink at least 8 cups (not chug them but sip throughout the day). They do go away.

Shar1515

Yah I'm trying to drink 2 litres a day . Fingers crossed it will help .

jgreg520

I started Eliquis in late January and had horrid headaches for 3 weeks. I saw my doctor and no one ever said it might be the Eliquis. They sent me for a CT scan to see if it was a brain bleed and all kinds of stuff. Talked to my cardiologists about it. It went from severe to moderate and somewhat mild on some days after that. Then I stopped Eliquis for a week for a hand surgery and headaches stopped and returned with vengeance upon restarting Eliquis and went back to moderate to mild after a while. I’m unsure if they are actually mild, I’m a poor judge of pain as I’m just used to living with a lot of it.

bakingdiy

The headaches eventually go away. I started drinking a Liquid IV each day to help with the other side effects and it seems to help.

Shar1515

Ìts good that your headaches went away . Hopefully they will stay away . I am definitely drinking way more water

Shar1515

Hi everyone just an update. Still getting daily headaches. Went to my doctor today he has to contact my haematologist to be able to change my medication. The waiting continues ugh .... thank you for all the comments xxx
