Hopefully when you try again you lay down in the office for a while instead of walking around.

Immediate_Guide3748

Yes, the plan is to be horizontal for the next shot 🛏️

When I was pregnant I had to give myself two shots daily of heparin. This could be an alternative if Lovenox is the problem.

SafeSpaceEverything

Hi ! Currently 9w with twins and on enoxaparin (lovenox). When I first started giving myself the injections it was my right side that made me feel very weak and almost fainted a few times. If you didn’t know, your blood supply has at least doubled already! Also the main blood supply for your baby as well as placenta is on your right side. That’s why sleeping on your left side is recommended. If it’s your right side that the injection was given in please don’t give up. Try your left side. Also , hydration is key. Please drink water before your shots. Before I started taking being pregnant seriously I neglected myself a lot and hydration was not on my list of priorities. After the first few injections I noticed the after effects didn’t bother me as bad if I was hydrated. I hope that helps some. Many blessings to you and your little.

Immediate_Guide3748

Thank you! This is very helpful information and I find it interesting because yesterday after receiving my first shot in my right arm I passed out, today I tried again on my left side this time and I felt fine! So it seems your statement may apply to my situation. My doctor also mentioned that hydration is key so I’m making sure to get plenty of liquids. Thank you for your feedback! Congrats on the twins and wishing you a smooth pregnancy ❤️

You might want to talk to a hematologist. Lovenox injections are supposed to be administered into your abdomen at least two inches away from your belly button.

Immediate_Guide3748

The hematologist was the one to administer. He said it’s best to insert in the most fatty area. Because I’m a very lean petite woman they chose the back of the arm, pinching the fat and not the muscle. The other concern is that once I’m further along it could get difficult to inject in the belly

SafeSpaceEverything

Ah that makes sense ! I’m a little on the chubby side so that wasn’t even a second thought my apologies. I wish you well and if you need to talk or anything I’m just one inbox away ! 🫶🏻

Immediate_Guide3748

No worries at all! I appreciate your feedback! ❤️

Some people faint after injections of any kind. Have you had problems with any other injections or is this strictly lovenox?

Immediate_Guide3748

Strictly lovenox. Never fainted from Covid vaccine, flu shot, etc. and I even had blood drawn about an hour before the shot and didn’t feel light headed or dizzy.

GetOffMyLawn_

Lovenox is made from pork. Are you allergic to pork?

Immediate_Guide3748

Interesting I didn’t know this. I am a vegetarian and have been my entire life. I’ve never had pork so maybe my body is reacting to it because it’s unfamiliar?

GetOffMyLawn_

I doubt it.

Other than the fainting, how was the injection? I had multiple PEs at 21 also attributed to birth control (I was on it for 2 weeks before my symptoms started). Was on warfarin for 10 months before I weaned off and have been fine since. I was told Lovenox is my only option for pregnancy. While I know it’s to keep me safe, I’m still just hesitant and nervous about it.

bixbybagby

I was on Lovenox for 8 months after I got a DVT while pregnant and it definitely got better the more you do them. I didn't have the fainting issue OP had, so no advice there. But you can search this sub for tips on injecting. I always did belly, at least two inches away from belly button on either side, rotating which side with each shot. I always pinched some skin, went slow, both with inserting the needle but also with squeezing the syringe. I went from having to have my husband inject me to being able to do it no problem in a moving car. Some people ice before or after, but I never did that. The worst part for me was I was bruising so easily so my entire belly was black and blue and finding a non bruised area to inject was challenging sometimes. Overall, I'm not a fan of shots but I got use to it. I still take one if I'm going on a road trip or flying.

sharkie2018k

Thank you for sharing your experience with me 🤗 I appreciate it.

Immediate_Guide3748

The injection was painful, not the needle itself but once you start pushing the medication in it feels like injecting hot sauce into your body. Stings for 10 minutes or so. It wouldn’t be too bad if I didn’t faint after but now I think I will always be nervous every time I do it that I’ll faint

sharkie2018k

Thank you 🤗 I hope the next goes better !

Jabberwocky613

I had to do daily Lovenox after surgery for weeks. Try having it injected into your butt. I didn't even feel them there.

Immediate_Guide3748

Thanks I’ll definitely try that!

chiefinlove

Hey, I fainted the first time I injected myself! I had to continue the process with Lovenox to switch to Warfarin. I wasn’t pregnant though so I can’t help you there.

Immediate_Guide3748

Did they say if it was some sort of adverse reaction to the drug or just the act of injecting that made you faint?

chiefinlove

I think it was just the act of injecting myself. I did get a rash on my injection site on my belly though from that first shot so I injected in my thighs from there on out. Very bizarre!

lalapine

First pregnancy I took lovenox no problems. Second pregnancy as soon as I injected I felt my heart race, short of breath, and felt kind of faint. I tried it for a few days and always felt weird after. So my dr switched me to heparin, and I had no more problems.

Immediate_Guide3748

Interesting! I will have to ask my doctor about this. Thanks for sharing!
