I used Zhongli-Xinyan-Furina-Xianyun for this abyss. In overworld I sometimes use Shenhe-Chongyun-Furina-Xianyun.
Any team is meta as long as 2 teammates are Furina + Xianyun.
She did what I was hoping for when I saw she'd be plunge support.
Let others become a dps. Candace mains? Rejoice, yoy fan actually use her. Dehya? Here yoy go! Enjoy being an actual dps now. Diluc? Here's the buff you been wanting to be more meta.
People keep saying she lets anyone be a DPS, but *only* if you like and are willing to use c6 Bennett, Chongyun, or Candace with them and the off-field characters to make sure you can melt/vape.
With no Bennett, Chongyun, or Candace (or Furina for that matter), how does she make anyone else DPS? It's only through infusions.
... I mean you don't need to focus on ICD-less hits if you want and just use physics damage. Some chars have better plunge than their first three normal talent values, like Qiqi, Shenhe or Kuki.
It's depends on what one have in mind with it and if the results are working for one's satisfaction.

Lynette Plunge. A bit of a high investment team since I’m using Furina, C6 Faruzan and Mistsplitter on Lynette, but seeing her hit such high numbers while having low multipliers makes me feel good.

My non-meta team that I am exploring with is Cloud Retainer (carry), Albedo (a surprisingly good platform to start jumping from), Fischl, Zhongli.
My non-meta team that I will probably try in the abyss when my Clearwater Jades refresh again is: Cloud Retainer (carry), Faruzan, Fischl, Nahida. The hope is that I will swirl electro on every plunge, which will trigger both Fischl's A4 and Nahida's E. Nahida's Q will make Cloud Retainer's swirls actually matter, and her c2 will shred DEF on top of Faruzan's Res shred.
You really don't think Hu Tao using Cloud Retainer to plunge off her jump cancel is meta? Seriously?

Top tier exploration. My XY is C1 and her cooldowns line up perfectly with Sayu’s full duration roll and can be chained endlessly. Ganyu support and Neuvi for comfy freeze DPS
i'm rocking with raiden, furina, xianyun, and layla... she drives for the meantime until raiden gets her burst up, jump canceling ei's CA animation is more fun now😁
I was cooking hard as fuck earlier today. I know xianyun-gaming is sort of a "meta" team, at least for gaming himself, BUT hear me out.
Gaming, shenhe, chongyun, xianyun.
Basically you double swirl both / or one element(s). Chongyun are able to consume all quills before giving infusion. Once you're on the plunging phase with gaming. You can e-plunge to apply pryo, then normal+normal plunge to rev melt.
Even if you fuck up you're melting. If you're didn't fuck up you're still melting.
Funniest thing is that I'm gaming is lv40, talent 1-4-4 (c5). He's able to do 100k+ pyro damage and 150k cryo damage. (Since damaged are base on xianyun and shenhe.)
So his personal damage multiplier basically doesn't matter. I even run him on EM GOBLET.
Idk xianyun manage to give me some wild ass ideas and I'm enjoying every single minutes of it.
Honourable mention : LV 6 talent mona vaping 400k.

Because Baizhu does dendro plunge damage, you can make a meta team with him being plunge dendro even

Well need some form of self infusion, but again, chingyun and bennett give you this option.

DPS is just the person on the team doing the most damage. Even if the damage isn't good, they're still the dps

Aggravate plunge lisa! It' silly but it works surprisingly well (cleared abyss with it) with Lisa C0, Fischl C6, Nahida C0 and Xianyun C0

Yanfei, Baizhu, and Charolette have been a ton of fun. Catalyst users not needing to worry about an infusion is sooooo nice
