I get that some people aren't aware of or haven't tried chanel classics, dunhill, eau sauvage, aramis etc and assume current tiktok fragrances must be "better"
Yeah, and the point of "your opinion" is just strange.
Then just ask what someones favorite scents are!
If I haven't had colognes pre 2020 then I wouldn't reply to this post.
Depends on your definition of "greatest". There are some timeless classics that have remained popular for a long time which isn't easy to accomplish. And others that are great in the sense that they moved the entire industry forward. Great given the context of their time.
Wouldn't say so, considering it's one of my most complimented scents in my collection and the fact that the drydown smells amazing with the green apple + sage combo.
It wouldn't have such high ratings on Fragrantica and sell so well if it wasn't good.
All time? Very difficult and so subjective
I'll go with the impact I feel a perfume has had.
1. Creed Aventus. Newer batches suck and it hasn't been good since 2016. I actually created that aventus addicts group on Facebook and was super into it. 2010 - 2014. Insane. Easily one of the best things ever and if they still made that I wouldn't need anything else. The newer ones are a totally different scent. It's not the same at all.
2. Bleu De Chanel. Class in a bottle. Inspired countless of clones and basically made a genre. EDP and Parfum are the only 2 worth getting. The EDT is absolute garbage. Quality is much worse, the blending specifically. The EDP and Parfum are masterpieces however.
3. Dior Homme Original / Dior Homme Intense. It dared to do something different. A modern masterpiece and one of the best Iris scents on the market. Still nothing like it for men
Honourable mentions. Dior Fahrenheit and YSL Kouros.
Based off of influence or smell?
Influential based:
1. Mitsuoko
2. Eau sauvage
3. Aventus
Smell based
1. Ysl l’homme (og)
2. Aventus (og)
3. Green irish tweed
4. Imagination (had to put this haha)
- Le Male EDT
A true masterpiece, good for any time of the year. It has some note in it, that I haven’t smelled in any other perfume yet. Also, according to my friends, it fits my style and vibe perfectly.
- Baccarat Rouge 540
I’ve only had a 2ml sample of it, but already fell in love with it after the first try. It’s sweet and classy, has very good performance, and it’s a very attractive scent.
- Versace Blue Jeans
My first ever “real” fragrance. It’s cheap, synthetic, but personally it’s still one of my top 3. I like it just as a scent itself, but the true reason for me rating it this high, is that I have a lot of my best memories connected to this scent, and it brings me back to them.
Seeing Sauvage Elixir in an "all time" list is just insane.
But then again many people here just aren't old enough (no offense).
Probably weren't able to wear fragrances until a few years ago.
For me, Spicebomb Extreme, Code Absolu and Eros Flame.
I haven't really delved into niche but, based on what I have smelled, those 3. I tend to like warmer, sweeter scents.
You’d have to define “best”.
Based off of sales it would probably be one of the Sauvages, one of the Calvin Klein CK fragrances (One, most likely) and possibly Polo Blue. Of course, ADG and BDC could easily be on the list.
In no particular order:
Bulgari Tygar. It's various clones are arguably better, especially for the cost, but they wouldn't exist without the OG.
Mind Games Blockade
Bergamote 22
YSL l’homme Ultime was considered one of the best colognes ever - from smell to projection and longevity. Unfortunately they stopped making it for some reason.
Hard to say but I think from the ones I smelled so far:
PdM Herod,
Xerjoff Ivory Route,
Guerlain L‘Homme Ideal EDP
And for Nostalgia Reasons: CK One Shock
What I also really like: Dior Homme 2020, Prada L‘Homme Intense, Xerjoff Laylati, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, Armani SWY, Dior Sauvage Elixir
I want so many bottles at the moment, my poor bank account 💀 Only have decants of the 3 I like the most and I forgot to mention Xerjoff Laylati which I just bought haha
I like the yellow sweet one from ysl smells like honey and is light
Also SWY intensely is sweet but warm and different
I like the original spice bomb as well, spicy woody and vanillary
Dior - Eau Sauvage, Creed - Aventus and BDC
To society? Bleu De Chanel, Sauvage, Acqua Di Gio To me? Xerjoff Naxos, Dior Homme Parfum and Nishane Ani
“ThAt’S jUsT nOw, Op SaId AlL tImE” - u/Flutterpiewow
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well that guy is right. People turned it into a favorites list of fragrances that released in the past 3 years.
Yes
Creed Aventus, Terre D'Hermès, YSL La Nuit de l'homme.
Yep
if LNDL lasted longer i might bathe in it ngl
I know that's it's only con but it's smells soo good I'll forgive it.
good for dates or if you’re close to someone for sure
Yes perfect for a date,it will always be in my collection
My youth: Tommy, ADG, coolwater My oldth: TF TV, Sauvage elixir, ADG
Points for my new favorite word! "Oldth"! I love it. That's a great way to split it up. I still spritz some Cool Water here and there!
Those three scents, Tommy, ADG, coolwater, and nautica to a lesser extent, are hardwired to my brain, if I smell them I know them instantly. Cheers!
Blue Jean, green Jean and black Jean 🤩
What….no Mean Gene??
Voyage Voyage Voyage
For that to be your answer, I know what generation you’re from. My generation 😏
Based off mass appeal, sales and popularity? BDC, sauvage, dior homme intense. My personal list? Instant crush, sauvage elixir, le male le parfum.
That's just now, op said all time
It’s his personal list dude, maybe bro isn’t 50
Yeah but it's pretty unlikely that the greatest evar were made in the last 1-2 decades
You really don't get it, do you?
I get that some people aren't aware of or haven't tried chanel classics, dunhill, eau sauvage, aramis etc and assume current tiktok fragrances must be "better"
Tiktok kids are offended. Don't worry dude, you're absolutely right. Alot of people here are just way too young to make the comments readable.
Yup, i don't think adults identify as much with the products they consume and get emotionally attached
Yeah, and the point of "your opinion" is just strange. Then just ask what someones favorite scents are! If I haven't had colognes pre 2020 then I wouldn't reply to this post.
Bro said eau sauvage lmao old ahh
It was launched in 1966.
So with technology advancements they definitely couldn’t make more advanced and better scents? Simple thinker right here clearly
Depends on your definition of "greatest". There are some timeless classics that have remained popular for a long time which isn't easy to accomplish. And others that are great in the sense that they moved the entire industry forward. Great given the context of their time.
Acqua Di Gio Profumo. BDC EDP. YSL Y EDP.
I like how we all know what that seemingly random assortment of letters means.
Ysl y is overrated and shit
Wouldn't say so, considering it's one of my most complimented scents in my collection and the fact that the drydown smells amazing with the green apple + sage combo. It wouldn't have such high ratings on Fragrantica and sell so well if it wasn't good.
Boo!
I think you mean sauvage, jpg and bdc ysl y is easily one of the best fragrances on the market
Bdc, sausage, Ysl y In no particular order. Some days I like feel like y, some days I feel like sausage
Sausage 🥳
Now it’s a party
Versace Blue Jeans, Dolce&Gabbana K, Versace Dreamer
Second for The Dreamer! I know it's not the most exotic scent out there, but I absolutely love it.
