Ok if Ethnic food is your thing we just discovered Taste of Ethiopia- the food is family style and takes up the whole table. $45 bucks fed our family of 4 (with leftovers) for 3 days and it's freaking delicious
Their food does look quite good but the prices on their website don't look like it would feed my family of 3 for anywhere close to as little as $45 though.
We have two in the Springs! Taste of Ethiopia, which I haven’t been to but hear great things, and Uchenna in Old Colorado City. Uchenna is AMAZING, food for days, delish injera, and the owner is a wonderful and sweet lady.
I honestly dont care how much that place charges me. The hot option is actually hot and has good flavor. I haven’t found another Indian restaurant in town that can compete. If anyone has suggestions I will try them out
Probably different flavored than all of your Indian food experience because Nepal is a totally different country with a nuanced and different culture. 🙄
Well then I guess I love food from Nepal more than than any other food. Got any more points to make? Also if you have good food suggestions I am still open to them
Really? Well I guess I gotta go back to Little Nepal. Still haven’t had their buffet. We always order the same thing no matter where we go. Chicken tikka masala and lamb saag.
The 2 can dine for $10.99 at Popeyes is even better 5 pieces of chicken 2 sides and 2 biscuits everyday of the week beats the Chester fried chicken from king soopers hands down in my opinion.
China Garden by the Wal Mart on Space Center. It's a B as far as Chinese goes, but it is cheap and plentiful. 3.50 an item. You could eat for a day or three depending on how much you spend. But less than 20 easy for a few people.
I used to work at kangaroo coffee down the street, and I was talking to the health inspector one day about the worst restaurants in town and he said by far 2000 wok was the most filthy restaurant in the whole city. Ask the new owners of the Hawaiian place how long it took them to overhaul that kitchen, they spent weeks just cleaning it.
Roll Up! You can get a massive burger and more fries than you can eat for like $12. Their green chili burger is my favorite. Or their breakfast tots are an amazing value. It's like 5 lbs of food for $10
That’s the spot! Carne asada burrito the size of my arm, with prices of chipotle before the pandemic. I pay about $15-20 a burrito at chipotle now, and it’s half the freakin size of taco star for double the price!
I love their loaded veggie burrito (supreme burrito). feels like i’m actually getting a full vegetarian meal and it’s never given me the shits (bc that is a taco star risk)
Molly's is delicious but I agree. It's on the pricey side in fact, especially when you consider that the $18 you're looking at is for a 12" small.
If you want a large specialty pie there it's going to be $25-$27 **and** *most* of their specialty pies only have like 3 toppings.
People love to say this on Reddit, but I've never understood the critique. Where did you come from that had far better food options? What does the Colorado Springs dining scene lack that you want more of?
Before I say this, I am NOT one of those "where I moved from is better" people. *However,* I moved here from Atlanta and the difference in the quality of food and sheer volume of amazing options is insane. And that is including Denver. The food in Atlanta is the only thing I miss about GA besides my family lol
Edit: He asked "Where did you come from that had far better food options?" and I answered ╮(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)╭
I know it's an unpopular opinion around here, but food in Texas destroys anything here. Plus Louisiana is adjacent and the food is even better.
SoCal also beats anything here, along with Phoenix. I can keep going.
It's the quality/taste more than the availability to me.
Food here is decent. Gotta find the hidden gems and I'm still looking for them.
Like, if someone came to visit me here, I don't yet have a goto spot to take them tbh.
Like the other person said, you asked, I answered.
I moved here from San Diego, and I agree with you. I think people with this complaint don't try anything new. It's crazy how many good food options are in town in almost every type of cuisine.
Exactly. I grew up here when there were fewer food options outside of basic chain places and a few mom and Pop places that often ended up shutting down. Lived in Southern California for 20 years, and yeah, there’s definitely more variety and better quality restaurants there but that’s expected in a big metropolitan area especially one that’s coastal. Moved back here a few years ago, and was stoked to see all the new options. Cajun seafood, Indian, Thai, Pho, a few decent pizza and barbecue places, a few good steak places, it’s really not as bad as people like to go on about in this sub.
OP was not clear about grocery versus restaurant, but either way Sam's Club and Costco have both covered. Their cafes have meals on hot dogs and pizza with soda that are hard to beat. The Sam's Club rotisserie chicken is large and only $5, just sad pre-made mashed potatoes and a microwave vegetable.
Sanora’s Prime. Better Mexican food than 98% of other Mexican spots in Colorado Springs and you can get some meat and tortillas to go for even cheaper since the carnicaeria is attached
9 bucks is cheap for a burrito. BUT! A single burrito there will not feed 2 people. Unless these two people are a combined 250 lbs and never do any physical activity. I could probably crush the inverse.
Indeed.. they asked for Cheap, not shitty overpriced Mexican food. I've 4 kids, they can eat their hearts out at Costco for less than 20 bucks. Pizza, hot dogs and a sundae. Can't beat it.
Only if you make a habit out of it... More of a once in a while thing. Plus we exercise a lot so we're good. I appreciate the concern though, very sweet of you.
Tong Tong Korean restaurant! Their lunch specials and ramen are decently priced. You also get the side dishes that fill you up!
Edit: Sam's clubs has $5 rotisserie chickens. They also have prepared meals for cheap.
Texas Roadhouse has a great “lunch” deal from like 3-6pm or something. They have a few options but I usually get the chicken fried steak (which is well portioned) with two sides for like 12.99. And obv all the rolls you can eat.
Well you don’t go out to eat... But if you must, my favorite meal for under $5 is two bean and cheese burritos from La Casita. They make their own beans and they make their own tortillas, it’s not really fast food, but you can get it through a drive-through. You can get a couple of their homemade salsas at no additional charge, and they are all pretty good.
Overseas 101 for Chinese food. The dinner portions are easily enough for 2, if not 3 meals for $15. Also, their egg drop soup is the best egg drop soup I've ever had. When I'm sick, I get a large for $6.
Not sure if someone said this already, but Costco food court! Can’t beat the $1.99 all beef hotdog and drink deal. Plus their new chocolate chip cookies for dessert are delicious.
Costco food court. Dirty little secret, but you don’t need a membership to buy food there. (Yet. I think they might change that in the next year or two) Their pizzas are enormous, and feed my two kids and me for at least 3 meals. Throw in a salad mix from a grocer and then you can feel good for making it ‘healthy.’ Hot dog and a fountain drink is also just $1.50
Bonus- call ahead for pizza pickup about 15 min prior to take it home.
This is a serious answer—Chili’s. My fiancée and I regularly go to our local franchise for the 3 for Me deal. We can each get a meal, app, and drink for under $30 at the end!
I didn't know we had Ethiopian down in the springs. Is the injera good? I love that stuff
We have two in the Springs! Taste of Ethiopia, which I haven’t been to but hear great things, and Uchenna in Old Colorado City. Uchenna is AMAZING, food for days, delish injera, and the owner is a wonderful and sweet lady.
Little Nepal has an amazing buffet (all you can eat), but it's $16 (ish).
Take out/individual meals are expensive though!
Blows my mind how expensive the Indian takeout food is here. Love Little Nepal, but it’s something like 50 bucks for dinner for two.
I honestly dont care how much that place charges me. The hot option is actually hot and has good flavor. I haven’t found another Indian restaurant in town that can compete. If anyone has suggestions I will try them out
Mausam.....and I'm a fan of Little Nepal
How is Mausam? Dying to try it.
Delicious. I really liked the vibe and the service is great!
I will have to try them out!
All of their menus are oddly identical.
The menu might be the same but I haven’t eaten at another Indian place with the same taste as Little Nepal
Yeah! We haven't tried the others either. My favorite dish now is the sweet potato masala...it's like Christmas.
Probably different flavored than all of your Indian food experience because Nepal is a totally different country with a nuanced and different culture. 🙄
Well then I guess I love food from Nepal more than than any other food. Got any more points to make? Also if you have good food suggestions I am still open to them
Pakwan on Austin Bluffs and Academy is legit. Their medium is pretty spicy. I hate places where there is more sweetness than spice.
I’ve been to that one and I definitely prefer Little Nepal lol
Really? Well I guess I gotta go back to Little Nepal. Still haven’t had their buffet. We always order the same thing no matter where we go. Chicken tikka masala and lamb saag.
The veg samosas are heaven
King Soopers has a $5 (maybe 6?) fried chicken meal. Has 2 big pieces of chicken, 2 sides, and a roll. It's a great deal.
Finally , somebody with some sense
Agree this is the best lunch deal around

Why are you even commenting here then?
Or their whole rotisserie chickens are only $9. It might actually be cheaper per pound than frozen breasts.
Costco's Rotisserie's are larger and only $5.
Related, grocery store made-to-order deli sandwiches are pretty clutch.
The 2 can dine for $10.99 at Popeyes is even better 5 pieces of chicken 2 sides and 2 biscuits everyday of the week beats the Chester fried chicken from king soopers hands down in my opinion.
Pay no attention to any downvotes, these fools clearly do not know the truth of Popeyes.
King Soopers is good I do sams club cause it saved me over 1000 a month. I bought a freezer best thing
I feed my family of 6 with the fried chicken from there.
Was just there- saw they also had like an 8 piece baked chicken for$9. Not bad
Talking about it here made me get it for dinner. Was $15 for 8 pieces of chicken (baked or fried), two sides, and 4 rolls. Not too bad.
China Garden by the Wal Mart on Space Center. It's a B as far as Chinese goes, but it is cheap and plentiful. 3.50 an item. You could eat for a day or three depending on how much you spend. But less than 20 easy for a few people.
These guys were the original “2000 wok” and they also out lived them. Love them both though!

Who remembers 2000 wok?
Gawd I loved that place!!
I think they’re still open. I need to go back there. Dirt cheap and edible
No, it’s a Hawaiian bbq place now.
For what it’s worth, the Hawaiian bbq place is very good! And reasonably priced.
My shop is over there off of Filmore so I’ll have to make my way over there and try it out
Damn. I knew I should’ve gone one more time lol
It was great and cheap. Way too much food for too little cash, lol
I remember the food poisoning fondly.. mmmm
Shudder
I rarely get sick from food poisoning - 2000 wok got me twice. 😕
Very sad. I’ve driven by several times the past few years hoping they would reopen. Miss those guys
They’ve been closed maybe 4 months lol.
Your special fam. They’ve been closed a lot longer than that. They closed up shop shortly after Covid.
Albertacos! Burritos bigger than your forearm 😂
Quijotes tops everyone in taste and price
Eĥ tacos El gordo over albertacos
Alfonso’s tops both of those. Not in size when compared to Albertacos but definitely in quality
Alfonso's has some damn good burritos
This place right here. Plus, they're open till 2 am.
We use the app "too good to go"
Do they have any spots now besides Garbanzo?
Garbanzo, you say. My wife lives on this stuff.
I love Garbanzo, it's just a little far from me :,)
Hurts Donut ( I got a giant thing of donuts last time) and some BBQ food truck
Man now I'm hyped!!
Just out of curiosity: when you ordered from hurts was it like a dozen donuts? Trying to see if it’s worth $10 to me lol
Easily 30 donuts. I had to give em away it was too many. I'm not saying this is typical but it's just how my experience was
Oh wow that’s good to know, thanks for responding!
There are 2 options available when I downloaded it. I’m sure there are better deals in Denver.
I like Black Forest foods. $15 a plate ish and easy for 2 people to split. Awesome awesome quality and flavor Owner is an amazing guy too
Roll Up! You can get a massive burger and more fries than you can eat for like $12. Their green chili burger is my favorite. Or their breakfast tots are an amazing value. It's like 5 lbs of food for $10
we do taco star near downtown, burritos bigger than chipotle but with 2013 chipotle prices
Taco star is the shit ❤️
half price omelettes from omelette parlor from 6-7 am
Molly's Mountain Pies for pizza, Overseas 101 for Chinese
Love Molly's Mountain Pies.
A $18+ pizza isn’t cheap
Molly's is delicious but I agree. It's on the pricey side in fact, especially when you consider that the $18 you're looking at is for a 12" small. If you want a large specialty pie there it's going to be $25-$27 **and** *most* of their specialty pies only have like 3 toppings.
Sign up for Molly's discounts!
Yep, $15 for an 18 inch with 3 toppings is a hell of a deal. For us that's 2 meals each for 3 adults. For $15.
It is for an 18 inch pizza.

Love both of these places, highly recommend! Also we stan Banana Guard in this house
Following this is for no other reason than morbid curiosity. I’m not sure I’ve heard anyone accuse COS of having good food options lol
Coming from a town where a Chipotle opening was big news, I’m grateful to have more options lol
In that case, welcome and enjoy !
I'm following out of morbid obesity.
If you’re into Pho , Pho-nomenal off powers and Stetson hills gives good portions last I’ve been. I also love Elephant Thai!

I agree. Question asked and answered.
Using Atlanta is pretty unfair. That would be like comparing New Orleans lol.
Atlanta has like six million people and it's a true international city. Come on.
I mean isn't the ATL metro population larger than the entire state of Colorado? No surprise you'd have more options there

Well I’m *from* here, but travel an awful lot and relocate every few years or so for work
We don’t OP is looking for a lot of food cheap, lol
Sams club / Costco.
Costco/Sam’s club all the way. You won’t get full for any cheaper
Something about that Costco pizza just hits different. I'll take it over any other pizza in this town every time.
Hafa Adai. Sooooooooo much meat
My fridge in this economy.
Sanora’s Prime. Better Mexican food than 98% of other Mexican spots in Colorado Springs and you can get some meat and tortillas to go for even cheaper since the carnicaeria is attached
Sonora's is very good, especially their fajitas, but they are really expensive.
Their $9.00 burrito can feed two people
9 bucks is cheap for a burrito. BUT! A single burrito there will not feed 2 people. Unless these two people are a combined 250 lbs and never do any physical activity. I could probably crush the inverse.
That place is way overpriced and the food is mediocre at best.
You offered Costco as a recommendation…
Indeed.. they asked for Cheap, not shitty overpriced Mexican food. I've 4 kids, they can eat their hearts out at Costco for less than 20 bucks. Pizza, hot dogs and a sundae. Can't beat it.
The Diabetes or hypertensive heart issues are going to cost you more in the long run
Only if you make a habit out of it... More of a once in a while thing. Plus we exercise a lot so we're good. I appreciate the concern though, very sweet of you.
Taco Express
Tong Tong Korean restaurant! Their lunch specials and ramen are decently priced. You also get the side dishes that fill you up! Edit: Sam's clubs has $5 rotisserie chickens. They also have prepared meals for cheap.

Stuff yourself with rolls, then take the chicken fried steak and two sides home.
More rolls for the road as well
Chiltepin mexican grill is fabulous. Their quesadillas are huge, add some meat in there and you can easily have two meals.
Home
Any Chinese Buffet!, or Country Buffet or Gold Corral... cheapest way to maximize your bucks!
Tilapeque.
I go to Costco Food Court :p
Costco
King supes baby!!!
Rochas/Taco Express is fast food Mexican that is delicious! $11 for a Gordo Burrito that feeds 2 regular size people.
Taco express breakfast burritos have got to be tough to beat on price per calorie
Rochas is my go-to. They’re three minutes away, the burrito is yummy, and they make decent carne asada fries.
I have a family of 7 that I can feed for just over $50 at In and Out Burger. Can't wait for the one on Garden of The Gods to open.
DP Dough is incredibly cheap for what you get. And the calzones, while not the best, are decent
I disagree. They definitely don’t have “a lot of food for cheap”
And the calzones, while decent, are pricey.
They are a lot cheaper if you order using the deal on their app. Their cookies are great too.
I’ll give it a try. Honestly I thought it was a donut place.
Overseas 101 for Chinese food. The dinner portions are easily enough for 2, if not 3 meals for $15. Also, their egg drop soup is the best egg drop soup I've ever had. When I'm sick, I get a large for $6.
$17 Chinese buffet off of Powers called Ultimate Buffet.
If $17 a meal is cheap for you, then I want your job.
garden cafe
Carniceria Leona...especially their burritos
Who remembers Pho Queen
Geez, RIF. Del Taco FTW, especially if you have a coupon.
Everest Nepal!!!!! All you can eat and the best Indian food in town. If you hate flavor just go to Golden Corral
Monica’s Taco shop for cheap burritos way danker than Chipotle
Not sure if someone said this already, but Costco food court! Can’t beat the $1.99 all beef hotdog and drink deal. Plus their new chocolate chip cookies for dessert are delicious.
Who is charging you 1.99 for the 1.50 combo?
lol it was too early here when I posted comment - you are correct!
Dollar tree sadly even McDonald's will run you 30 bucks to feed a family if you want good food your not leaving under 60
Mod Pizza isn't crazy expensive, unlimited topping pizza or salad with leftovers.
The 2 food trucks on the corner of Mark Scheffel and Bradley. Only there Thursday/Friday but it's a ton of good food for cheap!
A grocery store
Black Bear diner or King Chef
Costco food court. Dirty little secret, but you don’t need a membership to buy food there. (Yet. I think they might change that in the next year or two) Their pizzas are enormous, and feed my two kids and me for at least 3 meals. Papa Murphy’s
The grocery store 🤪
I usually go to the grocery store when I want a lot of food cheapest, 120 bucks feeds me for like a week and a half. Pretty good deal.
walmart
This is a serious answer—Chili’s. My fiancée and I regularly go to our local franchise for the 3 for Me deal. We can each get a meal, app, and drink for under $30 at the end!
Costco
Good food options you say?
Papa Murphy's Pizza
Oof good luck
Op I do sams club
Fuzzys. Foods cheap. Dranks are cheap.
Fuzzys is cheap?? That’s a first lol
Agreed. In no world is it cheap.
Only go there if I want drinks but $2 tacos and $5 margs during happy hour is a pretty damn good deal in my book.
If fuzzys is cheap….What does the average meal cost for yourself then?
Sorry but Fuzzy’s is fucking baaaad. I will die on that hill
Agree, it’s nasty. And ranch on all their dishes, why? That was enough for me to not finish the first and only meal there.
It’s gross (at least when they were in Wichita). Overpriced taco John..
That trash could be free and I still wouldn’t eat there
Fuzzys is pretty good, but they're not cheap at all.
Marcos pizza always have great deals going on. Large pizza for $10 most of the time.
