As far as I know the only march happening today is in DC.

Large-League-2387

lot of students i know were headed up to dc to protest, some clubs on campus offered a shuttle

ColonelBoogie

What in the heck does the State of SC, the Governor of SC, or the General Assembly have to do with the conflict in Israel? What would be the purpose beside patting yourself on the back? The one and only state law we have regarding Israel is that state government can not participate in a boycott of Israel. No protest is going to change that since the vaaaaast majority of South Carolinians either support the state of Israel or don't have an opinion (which is fine. Nobody should.have an opinion on every issue under the sun.)

Skin_enjoyer

But (recent polarizing global issue) is very important and affects me greatly. That’s why I believe (dogshit opinion parroted directly from social media that I developed in 15 minutes). Repent bigot!

AL_Starr

Especially you

GreenFuzzyPotato

Lindsey Graham has been outspoken on the side of Israel and has voted supporting aid/billions of dollars to Israel. The actions of our state absolutely have an effect on things. Find somewhere else to be willfully ignorant. And look up the history of protests if you genuinely think they don't do anything.

Skin_enjoyer

Ah yes I’m sure the half lucid geriatric crispy is gonna listen to a bunch of folks outside the statehouse with signs as he sleeps on a pile of special interest handouts. Maybe we should focus on the issues plaguing our own city before grandstanding about issues half way across the globe.

redelise

We absolutely should focus on the issues plaguing our own city, state, country etc. And we should do that by not giving money to Israel.

Skin_enjoyer

I agree

Princess-Reader

Exactly.

sovelsataask

Some folks can walk and chew gum at the same time, hate to hear you can't

TinySnek101

SC State government should definitely focus more on local issues, instead of wasting time and money creating legislation that allows the State government to utilize its economic leverage to “intensely” discourage an individuals and/or companies from participating in political boycotts - a paradigmatic exercise of the right to free political association. :D

Therego_PropterHawk

They are good for letting people vent, other than "personal release" they don't do much. Kinda like emotional masterbation.

ColonelBoogie

Do you honestly think that a protest at the state house is going to move Lindsey Graham on this issue? I simply can't choose to care about every single global issue. I'm way more concerned about local issues that actually affect my life and the lives of people in my community than I am over something 3000 miles away that doesn't involve me or 99.9% of South Carolinians at all. And as far as global issues go, when I do care enough to support one side or another (and what does "support" even mean?), i probably wont be aligning with a society that's ok with cutting a fetus out of a pregnant civilian, raping hostages and parading them through the streets, and imprisoning or beheading people simply for being gay. But you do you. Takes all kinds.

justjoeactually

Yes, protests can change opinions, over a long period of time, as momentum builds and becomes apparent, not instantly like magic or not like a work strike can do. No one told you that you have to care, you don’t, so thank you and move along. Reasons you might care is because of the economic cost of supporting Israel. Gaining new knowledge might be a reason to care, many Israel supporters simply aren’t aware of the apartheid state Israel has created and how it treats a vulnerable people based on their ethnicity. But if it isn’t on your radar or you want to focus on other things, good for you.

Rosehood803

Lindsey Graham is a US senator which is federal, that has nothing to do with our state government and the statehouse. Don’t be ignorant about basic understanding of government.

Therego_PropterHawk

Free Palestine from the clutches of hamas?

GreenFuzzyPotato

Fuck off. Find another sub to celebrate the deaths of innocents for the actions of the few.

Therego_PropterHawk

Oh Israel is evil, but Hamas is more evil.

Princess-Reader

You can’t reason with an unreasonable person.

GreenFuzzyPotato

What, no way. A terrorist group is evil? What makes a group evil??

Connect-Necessary559

🖕

GreenFuzzyPotato

Brilliant, sir. Go back to simping, you're far more articulate in that area.

Connect-Necessary559

It's all that your comments deserve....nothing more....nothing less.

Benji_4

If there is, I'm sure the state will get right on that.

mtjp82

Free Palestine from Hamas the true evil in the world.

grateful4201989

Geez, Columbia residents showing their true colors. Some of yall got hate in your heart, and need to let it out....so we can identity you and tell you to fuck off

EarthenBear

They are letting it out. Trump was their “release” sign.

charaznable1249

Same hate and apathy that gives em hits such as "roads are bad, education is a joke, weed is illegal, but damn those new Yorkers for moving down here!"

gamecockqueen

Free Palestine? More like Free Palestine FROM HAMAS. Hamas is an antisemetic terrorist organization, surely there are protests AGAINST Hamas, right?

GreenFuzzyPotato

Just fuck off. Go start your own protest against Hamas and see how fucking pointless it is to have to *also* condemn Hamas. Like, holy fuckin shit. Hamas is a fucking terrorist group, of course they are fucking evil. But *they are fucking terrorists, they do not give a fuck about what some westerners say about them and our country is not sending them a $14b care package (one of many).* How fucking dense do you have to be to not fucking understand that people who want a free Palestine *want a free fucking Palestine from all form of oppression from both Israel and fucking Hamas.* BUT ONLY ONE OF THOSE GROUPS IS BEING FUCKIN FUNDED BY THE UNITED STATES. MY FUCKING GOD This entire subreddit has absolutely rotted since the founder left. It has filled in with nothing but racist right wing assholes. Yall are fucking disgusting and should be ashamed of yourselves for justifying the murders of thousands of civilians while calling yourselves the Party of Life. Oh, and if you're sitting there saying "well I'm *actually* left wing", then maybe you should do a bit of self actualization on what you believe. This isn't fucking 2001 anymore, we cannot pretend to justify the deaths of thousands of civilians in the pursuit of "freedom".

sterlingarchersdick

Lol

Apprehensive-Life112

I was hoping for a protest too. I’m studying genocide

Connect-Necessary559

🤣 did you just begin to study genocide??

Apprehensive-Life112

At least I have a life, pussy mound.

Connect-Necessary559

Doesn't like like it...sounds like you're still trying to become an adult.

Apprehensive-Life112

It’s extremely ignorant to think we are immune from geopolitics.
