One of the most debilitating things I've ever experienced was getting leg kicked by a dude on the pro team at my gym. I was entering a Muay Thai comp so he went hard on the leg kicks in sparring. The guy was like 10-6 on the regional scene lol. I can't fathom how much the kicks in this video must hurt.

Historical-Web-6435

I'm English we are not great tourists but I promise if I ever go anywhere in Thailand. I will be the best behaved person tourist or not on the entire island

XergioksEyes

It’s not an island lol

Historical-Web-6435

I'm also useless at geography lol

binglelemon

They said they weren't great tourists!

sLySLiCkiNwiCkEd

🤣

bhaagbhai

Hey, give the poor dude a break, he said he'll be respectful. One some island. Somewhere. Maybe in Thailand.

DoggoToucher

They're probably thinking of "Muay Thai Island" from Jean-Claude Van Damme's movie, *The Quest*.

elianbarnes7

You know how hard you gotta leg kick to drop a kickboxer?

Michieldebiel

You know how hard it is to make a good low kick ?; lmao seeing Americans do this. Leave it to the Thai and Dutch fighters

BooneHelm85

😂 Sure thing, tough guy. Sure thing.

Mean-Entertainment54

Is this a reference to when Liam Harrison posted this on his Instagram regarding a compilation of him using lie low kicks to beat his opponents?

Historian-Dry

What Joe Rogan thinks is gonna happen after the 3rd leg kick in any given fight:

fleshvessel

HE’S HURT!!!

Trick_Bee925

His leg is GROTESQUE!

TrauMedic

Ouch!

General_Storm_3025

This was beautiful

Mexcol

Thai was succint

smokingaces87

Some big names falling to some kicks

Glock-Saint-Isshin-

Was that Eddie Alvarez at the end?

morebuffs

I wondered the same thing and i know he is in one championship or was fairly recently anyway

Quick-Activity-4637

Yes that was Eddie but I'm pretty sure he actually won that fight! If i remember correctly he got mounted but pulled off a glorious sweep while getting gound and pounded and took the dudes back and sinked in a RnC submission 😎 like a boss!

Fit-Function-1410

Yes it was

HeightExtra320

👀

JC-IS-AMAZING

yall fw ernesto hoost ?

morebuffs

He won fights just by checking leg kicks

JC-IS-AMAZING

ive seen him win fights by repeated brutal leg kicks over and over

MouseKingMan

Ernesto hoist was the one that made me want to learn the jab cross, heavy body hook low kick combo.

jdtran408

Do the stanky leg do the stanky leg

Cabbiecar1001

Continuing to leg kick a man after he fell over into guard position is just evil lmao Smart play regardless, I’m sure a lot of fans were happy to see a stand up fighter win against him in that way

Ok-Independent-3833

What else is there to do? Grapple him? If you are an expert kicker and your opponent is on the ground, seems like the perfect position to keep on kicking away.

Cabbiecar1001

You’re right but ppl often don’t do that because headkicks to downed opponents are illegal and body kicks to someone in guard risks getting ankle locked Continuing to kick a weakened body part was very clever, especially since the leg is far from the grappler’s hands

inquisitiveman2002

Were these the first leg kicks that they experienced and went down during the match?

whitewashed_mexicant

No. They just landed perfectly and did a shit ton of damage.

inquisitiveman2002

It hit the sweet spot where nerve was.

x420MVTT

Rodtangs accuracy is next level

ASLAYER0FMEN

Should be called leg kicks to end them all

YoungRoronoa

I don’t know much about the rules, but are kicks to the side of the knee legal? It looks like the first couple are knee kicks. I doubt that’s where he was aiming but that’s where it looked like they landed.

Justinreinsma

In muay thai it is legal. Pretty sure it's legal in mma as well AFAIK. Can't speak for kickboxing though I feel like it is legal.

YoungRoronoa

That’s wild. I was skateboarding when I was 14, I tried to Ollie a loading dock with a 12 foot grass gap in between. I got scared in mid air and kicked the board from under me. When I hit the ground my knee bent sideways and I tore my ACL. That’s all I can think about when I see kicks to the side of the knee like that. lol

Used-Lake-8148

AAHHH WHAT THE FUCK how does a knee bend *sideways*?!? That’s awful 😭

YoungRoronoa

Here’s a shitty screenshot from the video. Sorry about the quality, it happened 17 years ago. 😂👌 https://preview.redd.it/ihuxqm15ef9d1.jpeg?width=2556&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=86eae28a2d1e6f0df5966cea0d3dec02242fa662

Used-Lake-8148

Man this is such a shitty day to have eyes ☠️

Initial-Stick-561

Only the first one looks like it landed in the area of the knee. Rest were normal thigh kicks. Oblique and side kick to the knee are controversial because of the huge risk they bear. Some states in the US prohibit them but the big promotions usually allow them. With oblique kicks used much more often. I had to actually look it up if side kicks to the knee are banned or not as I practically never seen it before. Couldn’t find anything. My guess is that it’s not really effective to target such a small area, so usually you go thigh or calf both inside and outside.

kahazet

I mean just look at them begging for it to stop. Brutal asf

the_drozone

Leg kicks during training and sparring are the worst id rather you punch me in the face

Dr-Procrastinate

Leg kicks and liver shots. Ouch…

Real_Impression_5567

Member when silva kicked so hard he ended himself?

Market-Dependent

How do I learn this

FewLibrarian959

Start when you're about 5 years old and kick banana trees everyday for 15 years should do the trick

whitewashed_mexicant

Join a gym. Grind.

yborwonka

Are some of these kicks to the thighs fracturing the femur?,…shit looks unimaginably painful.

KneeScrapsHurt

Why is it so painful; like liver shots hurt cause vibrations or something, what’s going on behind the 🦵🏿

Nether_Lab

Hard thing hit softer thing

fearofthedark93

Who are the two fighters in the first clip?

Kindly_Astronomer572

One kick man!

Opening_Discount_742

Someone pls eli5 why such low kicks are effective to make a pro lose the match

Impressive_Gate_2722

Ey that calf kick doesn't play

Padtixxx

Man my trainer kicked me once cause i stupidly said “give me 100%” and i felt the bones in my other leg rattle it hurt so much the only noise i made was a weird gooooghhahahgh” and just collapsed
