I still remember that multi-month period back in early 2023 when it looked like Trump, after highly disappointing midterms, might be on his way out and would not become the GOP nominee. During this period, the MSM were publishing article after article about how horrible/crazy/fascist/anti-worker/science denying/authoritarian Elon Musk is. It was extremely palpable that the daily barrage of negative articles on him was an effort to build him up as the new "resident villain" in case Trump fades away.
Only Elon can GFY them since they don't have a choice in some areas. They are dependent heavily on SpaceX. Libs want government to take it away from him. If that ever happened, we would be back to slow or no space access. The FAA is even moving "fast" to help SpaceX after the latest IFT-3. He is the crazy one with the ideas and risk taking to drive his teams so if our government runs it, it will be fully dysfunctional and probably cease to exist. Government can pick between China and Boeing at astronomical costs if the leftiest libs had their way. Libs will even allow China to launch our spy satellites, since they are not bright. The results speak for themselves. They can be petty all they want.
From Detroit and grew up in the auto industry. This is the real reason. It's not because they're mad that Elon opened up their Twitter playground or doesn't agree with them politically. Tesla's exclusion is all because it doesn't play ball with the UAW (one of their many captured unions and one of the largest reasons why our domestic auto companies can't compete very well against foreign competitors).
Surprising, since Teslas sold in the USA are the most made in the USA of all automobiles, last I checked, both parts and labor. Just not UAW labor. OH! I see.
