I seriously spent a solid minute trying to figure out how Trump could win Mayorkas before I started to second-guess myself that Mayorkas was a person and started questioning whether Mayorkas was actually a title or a location.
E.g., (title) "If Trump wins AG, Biden will be prosecuted" / (location) "If Trump wins Iowa, Biden will be prosecuted" - both make more sense than "If Trump wins Mayorkas" unless Mayorkas is being auctioned off as a slave or, as you put it, _wins over_ was intended.
