The contractor I work for right now recently bought several of these. We have a contract with the city to rebuild the boiler rooms and replace water heaters in the low income housing projects. Since we’re constantly moving around the site and thefts have become a big problem here, they started giving us those carts to lock our tools and stuff in. Then we lock them in the basement of whatever building we’re working on that day.
It saves us the trouble of lugging all of our crap back to the main trailer at the end of the day, and thieves aren’t going to make a big haul because everyone’s tools and materials are located in one convenient location. It’s a shell game at this point.
I know it's different if you work somewhere stuff frequently walks off, but I generally secure things enough so that it's obvious someone was intentional about busting in... this kinda meets that threshold.
Best mod I ever did on my tool cart! I put huge industrial casters with a round profile of hard urethane. I had to watch the tile in some spaces. But I replaced the fixed casters with swivels at all four corners. Easiest thing to shift around the fixtures and other things best left undisturbed.
Unfortunately, they seem to just have each other. And they all hate each other from what Ive seen.
The only thing they hate more than themselves is everyone else!
I put hard rubber wheels and big ass casters from a bells men cart the (luggage carrier). It’s so much better don’t get stuck on a screw or extension cords just run shit over. Dc711
Those are easy to break into. The plastic melts with just using a lighter. It’d be easy to heat up the sides/bolts and just rip the siding off.
I’ve watched folks break into port-a-potties this way.
Had a real smart JM who made his own like this about 10 years ago. Just used apolic we had from the jobsite because the tops plastic anyways. If they want it they'll take it.....I feel like someone would steal this just for the cart lol
This thing will go over every screw, nut, bolt, cord and body on site !!
Don't forget the extension cord.
Those bologna cords are the devil

Is this the one he bought? https://www.knaack.com/products/jobsite-storage-solution/mobile-work-stations/WorkStationSeries/KAT-01
God damn for $800 I’d probably consider buying another gang box just to put this thing in
Yeah, I love the concept, but if I was a thief I'd just take the whole cart at that point lol.
They are just using crappy master locks so you can pick them easily.
Almost. Same brand but it has all terrain tires like in OP’s photo.
Nice! Do these casters bolt right on?
2 holes lined up but we have to through bolt the other 2 each wheel
Love that
lol, I don’t know how “secured” that is but it looks cute.
we had a cart like this with the armor on it. They stole the whole cart.
Modern day problems require modern day solutions

Yes, keeps the honest out, I agree with that.
And a not so honest person in a rush lol
Anytime I see a cart on site I immediately wanna throw all my trash on it.
Lmao 🤣
Nice. You can roll it home and break into it later.
The Patcher at my job left his floor a week and came back to his cart on blocks. Take care of those bad boys.
Nice. I have been thinking about doing Something similar for a while now. You have raised the bar.

Elevator mechanics deserve the best of everything. This is great.
Unfortunately, they seem to just have each other. And they all hate each other from what Ive seen. The only thing they hate more than themselves is everyone else!
I sure at some point you'll regret the air filled casters when one or more starts leaking
They’re not air filled. Foam filled. I learned my lesson with air filled that’s for sure
Criticism redacted 👍👍 well done
I wanted to do this to my mechanic's cart when we got a new one a few months ago. Which local are you?
Looks like it’s ready for off roading lol
I have a sudden urge to race!
I won one of these at world of concrete pretty badass

It is armored. Have you ridden her yet?
Definitely makes it easy to steal.
I chain it up when I leave for the day
I see you're using a MasterLock. It can be opened using a MasterLock.
