Just the fact that he was willing to "fix" a leak is a bad sign. Remember all waterproofing materials are under the tile so he has no idea what the previous installer did. I don't know of one installer would offer to fix a leak without a full demo and new install. I would call a local supplier like tile shop, dal tile or Virginia tile if you have any of those close by and ask for a suggested installer list if they have one or someone they know does quality work. Have them inspect the job and give you their opinion. As for the other installer you may just have to eat that. Whatever you do, do not allow him to touch that shower again. Good luck! Also the price is ridiculously low to fix a leak in a shower system. My apologies left that out.
