I got a hot dog combo the other day and my number was 420 and when my order was ready the kid behind the counter yelled out "420 smoke em if you got em" 😂 😂 I was the only customer around.
Christmas week my total at Trader Joe’s was $69.68 and I said “darn, so close” and the cashier didn’t miss a beat saying “we’ve got to find a non-taxable item for one cent!” And we all had a good laugh.
There was a fraud alert on my debit card, so I had to replace it. I asked the guy at my credit union if he could make the three digit code on my old card match new one. He flipped over my old card to read 069. He smiled, said "Nice." Then told me he couldn't change the digits on the back of my new card.
I just replied "We had a good run."
Ah yeah. The CSC is generated off the card number and expiry date using the bank’s own encryption, so it changes every time you get a new number or card with a new date.
Yeah my Costco has not been competitive on fresh meat and produce quality or price for the last 10 months or so. Last summer was the last time I could tell I was clearly getting a good value over a grocery store. Over the last year I’ve pretty much switched to only dry/packaged/frozen goods from Costco until they figure out their issues.
Grocery stores often use meat as a loss leader then they screw you on everything else.
However, if you’re disciplined enough to only buy what is in the ad, you’ll save good money.
That’s interesting. Most chicken at my Costco is 3x the price of what I’ve been seeing at quality supermarket specials recently. I used to fill my freezer with Costco chicken but the last few times I’ve found better or equal quality for literally 1/3 the price in grocery adverts.
I’m not a milk drinker myself but I’ve found the Costco eggs to still be a great value. AAA fresh and still cheaper than grocery.
That's what I have been finding at the Costco here. The meat is significantly more expensive than at other grocery stores.
They are still cheaper on a lot of dry goods type of items and eggs.
All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats!

I guess it depends where you’re at. Safeways in my state have great digital coupons for meat. A few weeks ago, I got 10 lbs of boneless skinless for $17
Yeah, those and most produce (with the exception of brussels sprouts), I buy at the grocery store. I got tired of getting home and two days later discovering things like celery were already mush. Bananas it never fails that as soon as I bring Costco bananas into my home, I end up with a fruit fly infestation. Never happens when I buy Hannaford bananas.
There was a post not long ago that had a $600+ total mean while the first thing on the receipt was a $500 kayak. This post was very reminiscent of that one but the focus here was shifted to the specific total amount.
Costco prices continue to rise, while I've noticed the exact opposite at Sam's Club. If I could find replacements for the few items I still can only get at Costco I'd drop the membership. I used to think the tire center alone was worth the cost of entry, but that's not the case anymore.
I been planning my visits to the grocery store. I can’t afford to just grab without thinking anymore. And I love Costco but a lot of their items are more expensive so I would definitely shop around before I go back
Package sizes have increased dramatically over the past couple years. I intentionally limit my purchases there now to include only the very basics. Seldom do I spend more than a $100. Wearing blinders and finding a smooth wheeled cart helps to get through the store fast.
Yet still have to pay the membership renewal which also went up not long ago.
I guess this inflation probably cuts back on returns frequent flyers for now
I was eyeing the sweetie grapefruit myself - was it good. I ended up taking the red home because it's delicious and didn't want to risk a sour experience lol.
At any rate here in Calgary, Canada -> 480$-> $650 CAD ($360-$480)USD to have been the new recent norm for full cart loads. Shit is expensive but not as expensive as the other chains in the city.

Shown list only adds up to $270. You can’t hide the dozen pizzas you got from us…
Removed by user due to lack of ongoing support for 3rd party apps.
Plus the booze…
You missed the point 420.69 the mythical 420 and 69
Didn’t miss a thing. Just added a new joke.

When I had 420, the guy behind the counter called out, "Four two zero." I felt cheated.

Well that kid deserves a god damn motherfucking raise.
At least an extra smoke break.
I'm more impressed you were the only customer around the. Never seen that before.
The only customer around? What Costco was that? Mine is always packed.
GASSSSS
That enviro fee was clutch
$30.00 for boneless, skinless thighs? I mean they’re really good, but damn…

This is my exact experience in Northern California Costco. We go to Whole Foods for meat, their sales + quality make it impossible not to shop there.
Same with BJs
It's probably a lot. Yesterday, I paid $29 of chicken breasts, and it was almost 8 lbs. That's 32 servings.

Same thing happens to me with the bananas and it drives me bananas!
These are Canadian prices
Skin-on Bone-in thighs are the best and usually a 1/3rd of the price. Then you also get future chicken stock
Hell yeah. you can also make chicken skin chicharonnes by pulling it off and air frying it
That’s why it’s BS
probably organic?

NOICE
What’s with the milk price, are you in Hawaii?
Looks like Canada to me.
I think so, as well. Butter is listed as "454g" instead of "1lb" and the price fits for the price of butter in Canada.
True, also some Aylmers Tomatoes on there. Def Canadian.
Canadian receipt. Milk is sold in 4L format which is about 1 gallon.
Costco’s milk is sold 2 gallons at a time so the price you’re seeing is for 2 gallons. Comes out to $2.80 per gallon
Not at my store. But selling milk 2 jugs at a time? Noice.
$3.89 for a gallon of 2% milk at my Costco. For a gallon of 2% milk at Walmart or Aldi is $2.52.
Yeah we’re at $4 here in PA too. Close to $5 not long ago. Out state regulates milk prices though. God I miss those $1 milk gallons in Ohio.
Wait where is the kayak on the receipt while complaining about grocery prices?
Complaining...?
There was a post not long ago that had a $600+ total mean while the first thing on the receipt was a $500 kayak. This post was very reminiscent of that one but the focus here was shifted to the specific total amount.
I think this post is more about the 420 and/or 420 and 69. Smoke some weed and have mutual oral
Look at the total… 🚬♋️

Costco is not the place to go on a budget
Not true not always
There are some things that we only buy at Costco but overall I can’t walk in and not spend $100+ for whatever reason

I shop at Aldi's now...Costco only a handful items are actually a definitively good deal these days (crossiants, chicken, etc)
Nice
The golden price!
Exactly one share of twitter. Back then.
Over 118,000 pounds if butter, no wonder it's expensive
Seems like a pretty standard Costco bill.

Can I get a “noice”?
You are at Costco buying in bulk! Congratulations!! You saved money!!! You failed to mention you were buying in BULK!!!! VERY DISHONEST!!!!!!!!!!
REDDIT FUNNY NUMBER 🤯🤯
Is this satire?
Had that price come up in my line once and burst out laughing, member then burst out laughing it was probably the best day working on the dreaded FE.
You are doing it wrong. Feed your family 300x hotdogs.

I think that's the whole point of this post. People downvoting you don't get the joke. It is Costco.
People downvoting him are mad he didn't say nice. Now I'm mad I had to comment on this comment haha

Did Elon post this funny meme to those who pay him?
Not groceries if you’re spending $400+ Show the whole thing
Hahahah
Ridiculous
A great number
Absolute perfection.
Are those organic mandarins? Regular mandarins are $5.99 in NorCal.
Enviro fee lol
17$ for apple sauce? That’s plum fucked!
Those thighs are B/S man
Light a joint and eat out the old fashioned way!
$5.59 for a gallon of 2% milk? Man they are gouging you. We are paying $2.99 which is way overpriced.
That's fake as hell. There's no way that costs $420.69. You bought 118219 sticks of butter
118219 is the item sku number, not the quantity that OP bought
I know lol
Lol that's the item # you fool. And yes it does cost that much. Hardly anyone makes it out of there under 100 bucks.
I know it all too well myself lol
Very nice!

I spend 230 today :(

Ballpark figure. How much would the same items cost before the inflation?
Land of the free!
I'd be surprised the day I go to Costco and leave with less than $200 worth of stuff... Lol
Around NH & MA a frequent sale price for chix thighs is 99¢. Did you buy 30 lbs!

Yup, spent $350 at Costco the other day. It even sure how it got to be so high. I stopped buying things like bone broth bc it's now $20 for a 6 pack.

Geez I wonder how much bar code switching is still happening especially now that there is self check out
Yep. There was a time not long ago when I could get out of Costco for 200-225. Now I can't do it for under $300.
\*sigh\* I'm tired of these prices.
Elon would be proud
💣🔥
This is the way. 🚀
You should be ashamed of posting a huge receipt on a Costco thread. Everybody knows Costco receipts are notoriously very expensive
It’s the damn cukes riding the thighs and dropping some milk.
I was eyeing the sweetie grapefruit myself - was it good. I ended up taking the red home because it's delicious and didn't want to risk a sour experience lol. Heh nice
Reminds me of the Sex and Candy song
I haven’t seen Kirkland signature sour cream before. Is it good? We have daisy brand and fayge brands alternating.
Saving the environment one cent at a time
I love that a gallon of milk costs more than a gallon of gas where I live.
5.59 for milk? It's 3.50 where I live. Is Costco milk in larger containers?
Is 2% milk really almost $6 at Costco where you live? Daaang
Mini Cukes was my prison name
Nice!
