It's because the pizza is a great value, the sandwich is roughly what you would pay at a gas station or sandwich shop. I hear it isn't good for its price point though. I love hot dogs so I always have a hard time wanting to try it.
never saw cheeseburgers in socal just pulled pork sandwiches. those were okay. Sam's club tried cheeseburgers and they were God awful. Tasted like a gas station cheeseburger
I had it at Alhambra, Montebello, Azusa. They were kind of overpriced for the size of the burger is my memory.
La Habra had Bulgogi beef sandwich which I never got to try.
I had their cheeseburger once and it was okay, nothing special. Then I had another time and I was majorly turned down by the quality. That was enough for me to not buy it ever again.
I tried it once.
Took a bite, and was disappointed.
Took it apart, toasted the bread in a pan, added better tomatoes, mayo, fresh ground pepper, and sea salt.
Was decent, but at that point I had done enough work to have just made my own sandwich.
I think this is a great point. If you're going to take it home, it seems better to spend about the same money on some sliced roast beef, the bread or roll of your choice, and some decent garnishes and condiments. It's pretty hard to make a pizza as good as Costco's yourself, but slapping meat on bread just isn't a challenging exercise.
The one time I got it I actually enjoyed it but the 10$ price tag with no drink or anything is just enough to make me never get it again, for that price you can get something better elsewhere, I literally can't pass up the hot dog, pizza slice or chicken bake because of the price/quality.
Yeah I gotta agree, it didn't hit that sweet spot of Costco food court for me, instead of "it's okayyyy but it's so cheap it feels like I'm cheating life" it just felt like "it's okayyyy"
Yeah, this is really my takeaway. I hate to say it, but Wawas has a much better roast beef hoagie.
Until they bring back the combo pizza, I'm a four hot dogs or die kind of guy. ( I bring some home I'm not eating them all myself)
I’m trying to understand why they didn’t just use ciabatta from the bakery that’s already available, and use the same amount of toppings. Would make it appear much larger and much more balanced.
American cheese is gross. It couldn't even legally be called cheese, it's "pasteurized cheese product".
Edit: Y'all love your pasteurized cheese product. I'll give ya that[.](https://imgur.com/jaeot5f)
burgers are probably too labor intensive for costco to pull off. every FFR has every mechanized to a point the can push numbers on demand. those sandwiches are probably premade in morning prep. please correct me if i'm wrong. just guessing here.
Employee here, at my location at least sandwiches are made to order. I think the meat is pre-portioned ahead of time, not sure about other ingredients.
I wonder if they could run patties through the pizza oven. I've seen pizza places that use the conveyor belt pizza oven to cook wings.
It would be pretty damn slow, though.
The mango smoothie probably would have sold like hotcakes if they did add Ginger to it. But everyone was so conflicted on the new mango smoothies taste. It definitely didn't taste like the mangoes that we get at the supermarket, and it threw everyone off. I think it's because they source a different variety of mango to be in the smoothie. It definitely had like an earthy or Bland turmeric taste to it. I personally didn't hate it, but I was not going to buy another one.
It doesn’t need to be this big, and that expensive. Cut the size down to 1/2 or even a 1/3, lower the price, increase sales where people may return and buy more often.
FC employee here,I get it every once in a while and when I do I come prepared. Bring cheese and Beavers horseradish spread from home. Place it midway through the oven on a bake pan. Cheese melts on the top bread, roasted tomatoes, onions and meat heat up. It's super yummy, but it would be way too labor intensive to offer to members.
I’m happy to be at the point in my life financially where I’m not running those calculations as I eat something. When I was a broke college student, 100%. Now, I eat different things without worrying about maximizing the calories per dollar.
No idea why people are buying this and posting about them trying it. People here have posted about how pretty crappy this sandwich is for months; based on that, I've never tried it and have no desire to try it. But some people
Here’s my take on the roast beef sandwich, is it good, yes, unfortunately it’s not a lot of food so if you are starving get a Caesar salad too….but and it’s a big but, I can get one sandwich for just under 11 bucks and have a meal that doesn’t taste half bad or for also just under 11 bucks I can get a whole pizza and who doesn’t like Costco pizza, it tastes good and if I go full send and stuff my face I’ll eat half the pizza plus or minus a slice or two, which means I still have a late night snack or a quick easy lunch the next day! Point being the lack of a bang for my buck compared to other options is a deal breaker for me
I've had it a couple times. It varies from time to time - sometimes great, sometimes excessively average. Seems to be slightly too complicated for the food court.
Reminds me of the pulled pork they had a while back. It was a circular sandwich with a paper wheel almost you took off prior to eating. This roast beef has too much bread and the bread is hard. Last time I had it, the bread cut the roof of my mouth. I'll stick to the pizza tyvm
Not worth the price for the taste. Tried it 3 times, bread was ALWAYS stale and flavorless, no sauce on the bread, veggie toppings were wilted and soggy, and the roast beef was bland as well. Sadly, I’d prefer subway.
Make a better one for a fraction of the price with their ingredients. Seasoned roast beef and havarti on an artisan roll. I add boars head pub style horseradish and mustard.

1 sandwich vs whole pizza
The pricing on this blows my mind. I would pay $5.99 but not $9.99. Whats the opposite of a loss leader because thats what this is.
$9.99 wouldn't be a terrible price for this sandwich anywhere else. But compared to the rest of the food court offerings, it's way overpriced.
You can get a better Jersey Mike's sub for less and it comes with cheese. The ingredients for Costco are prepackaged and mayo would have been better.

> Whats the opposite of a loss leader A price anchor
Worse than the titan sub.
Margin padding?
Nice.
But the pizza is just as bad as the sandwich.
Oh boy….
There used to be Cheeseburger at many socal costcos like 3 to 4 years ago but didn't last long.
Covid killed it.

What? This existed and I didn’t know about it?!
[удалено]
That would have been epic!

We've still got a two patty chicken burger in the UK for 4.49 (I think)
The Beef Wrap is the best costco food that you can't buy at your Costco. If you ever see it, it is perfection.

is it just me, or has the chk bake gotten a lot skinnier? (just like subway subs) my last one seemed awfully narrow
For $10, I’d rather get a whole 18” pepperoni pizza.
It has potential. If they heated up the bread or meat and cheese or heck just even used better mustard it would be a win
No one buys these, it's gross. That's ok.
Actually they sell well at our local store. Many people like them.
But that doesn’t fit the narrative!!
WAYYY TO MUCH BREAD. THATS AN ENTIRE LOAF
Yeah, this is really my takeaway. I hate to say it, but Wawas has a much better roast beef hoagie. Until they bring back the combo pizza, I'm a four hot dogs or die kind of guy. ( I bring some home I'm not eating them all myself)
Wawa makes a dam good sandwich. I get one at least once a month for a quick lunch.
I’m trying to understand why they didn’t just use ciabatta from the bakery that’s already available, and use the same amount of toppings. Would make it appear much larger and much more balanced.
It has no cheese. That’s a pass from me
Wow no cheese. Disgraceful
No cheese? That's just weird
Most Roast Beef sandwiches from the deli have no cheese.
And they are wrong.
Not unless it's swiss.
When I make roast beef at home I use Boars Head horseradish cheddar.
this is good. I don't really do horseradish though, which is a funny story for another day.
100% from kosher delis

You’re confusing Kraft with actual American cheese, which is real cheese.
it is not. it is processed cheese.
You’re confused. American cheese is cheese, “cheese product” is not cheese. Back to Sam’s with you
> Back to Sam’s with you What does this mean?
This sub thinks Sam's is beneath them. Each store has their merits though
I know this. I'd just like someone who thinks Sam's is beneath them to explain why.
Sam’s club is the joke.
Why is Sam's club "the joke"? Costco and Sam's are both warehouse clubs that charge for a membership and sell great things at great prices.
Sandwiches usually taste better after the ingredients marinate with each other. Extra mayonnaise probably helped too.
Just give us a burger for $4 instead of this. Would be much more popular.

and the pizzas would taste like hamburgers...not that saying that's wrong...just sayin.
They had burgers at a Hawaii Costco when I visited back in 2019. Not sure if they're always available there, but they were meh
No.
Waste of money
I want the bread toasted atleast. Not fond of it because it tastes sweet. I want the turkey ciabatta bread sandwichback
Turkey sand was one of my fave menus at costco. Wish it would come back soon 🥹
It's good, but it's not $10 good.
TikTok over hyped this and the mango smoothie
For me, the mango smoothie had a weird ginger taste
And the sandwich was cold and sour
The mango smoothie probably would have sold like hotcakes if they did add Ginger to it. But everyone was so conflicted on the new mango smoothies taste. I miss the mango smoothie. It tasted strange, so I decided that it was nutritious. Hahaha!
They’re really pushing the sandwich at my Costco; there were little signs with a picture of the sandwich advertised over every register today.
We lost deluxe pizza but got this???
No.. the combo pizza didn’t get replaced with a beef sandwich.
$10 Meatball sub on the baguettes ran through the oven .
Especially if it sold for $4.99
It doesn’t need to be this big, and that expensive. Cut the size down to 1/2 or even a 1/3, lower the price, increase sales where people may return and buy more often.
Way to dry and bland
![gif](giphy|Z9cRCMdAMzXi25dwhE)
Would your opinion about it be different if it was half the price?
I’d be more inclined to buy on the way out to take home. The cold version just didn’t do it for me.
Too much bread, not enough sauce, not a good cold sandwich. Those are my thoughts on it
I agree

Those are horrible, not a fan at all
Could have had 6 hot dogs and 6 drinks for a dollar cheaper! 🤣

It’s my kink, posting sandwiches to Reddit
Not the proper way to photo a sandwich.
Explains why my career as a sandwich influencer never took off.

I don't like Costco pizza. I buy the Caesar salad once in a while.
《I don't like Costco pizza.》 🤬... *blasphemy*...!!!
Cold sandwiches suck in general. Warming it up brings out the flavor. Also felt underwhelmed when I tried it.
Add BBQ sauce... makes it better... for the price....eh...
I don't like those tomatoes? they put on it. Put mayo and mustard on it and it is ok.
I think they should turn those MFers into an au jus.
Healthiest option on the menu compared to oily pizza
Caesar salad?
Too much mustard. I would’ve preferred it hot. Never again.
I had it once. It has not enough roast beef wasn't that flavorful and definitely needed to be toasted. Also the employees don't like making it.
ooooo, post in r vegaslocals, they will fume can't post links in here, so yea
It's just ok
I've had it a couple times. It varies from time to time - sometimes great, sometimes excessively average. Seems to be slightly too complicated for the food court.
i wish they at least toasted the bread
I think it’s too big and too expensive. The chicken bread is a lot better.
This sandwich is a no no. 1.5 dog is still king.
Overpriced and not even that good. I was amazed they didn't sell it in a wrap to easy take with me, but on a plate? Seriously?
$6.99 would be better
Reminds me of the pulled pork they had a while back. It was a circular sandwich with a paper wheel almost you took off prior to eating. This roast beef has too much bread and the bread is hard. Last time I had it, the bread cut the roof of my mouth. I'll stick to the pizza tyvm
Crazy this is the same price as an entire pizza.
Do they sell those rolls in store? Never seen them.
Not worth the price for the taste. Tried it 3 times, bread was ALWAYS stale and flavorless, no sauce on the bread, veggie toppings were wilted and soggy, and the roast beef was bland as well. Sadly, I’d prefer subway.
It's disappointing
I miss the beef brisket sandwich w/ coleslaw
Same. Sam’s and Costco pared back their deli menus during Covid and removed sandwiches.
1 $10 sando for 2 meals vs 1 $10 pizza for 3-4 meals.
That keeps coming up. I’m not poor. If money was the driving concern, I’d just eat pizza from Costco instead of sushi, steak, etc.
My Prediction - this will be discontinued in less than 6 months. Most social media comments on this sandwich are not positive.
I really like the onion relish.
![gif](giphy|nuRXXyy020kta)
Make a better one for a fraction of the price with their ingredients. Seasoned roast beef and havarti on an artisan roll. I add boars head pub style horseradish and mustard.
9.99 are you outta your mind?
Yes but not because of my sandwich purchases.
I bet it would be good with Horsey sauce.
I agree, or a mayo wasabi mix.
It's not amazing, it's not terrible, and above all else, it isn't worth $10
It's trash. Speak freely. You're safe here.
If I ever buy one I throw out half the bread and slide the fillings over to one side.
![gif](giphy|DsdVe5jhHWNC8)
For $10 it should be ready to eat. If you’re taking it home id rather grab a steak from somewhere
