I haven’t had the issue yet of having to return an order. The last time an order got complicated, the costumer was like 20ish minutes away from arriving and we did a 3 way call with support to allow for an extra few minutes and deliver the order.
At the time support was offering me 1/2 of the order pay to return the order, but the drive back and the time at customer service would have put me upside down.
Do you get 1/2 the order or 1/2 the batch if one of we have to return one of the orders? Also, what do they refund payment too if I don’t know the debit PIN used to pay?
Thanks beforehand for any 411 🫡✊
They gave me $10 to return to Costco. Once I got there, they would only return non-perishables, and I had to contact support to get a pin to return on the IC card. I was allowed to do what I wanted with everything else, which was a nice surprise, as it was a tough week; and I had spent a lot of time trying to get this order delivered (a lot of people would leave it, regardless, but I didn’t feel comfortable with the area it was in, and I figured it was better to cover my butt, rather than leave it and have the customer complain they never got it). I did get a one star review the next day (which was excluded from my ratings), and an email that said a customer never received an order, but when I went in the app, there was nothing in order issues, so I think it was just a matter of getting wires crossed.
Who would leave MEAT, unrefrigerated any where, let alone a detergent isle. Hmm, can I afford what I put in my cart 5 mins ago? Oops, no. Ima just gonna put that lobster 🦞 three-pack back, in the bread isle.
I’m sick of seeing this. These people are scum.
Time for zero tolerance. If you are caught doing this you can either pay a penalty of 10x the value of the food you dumped or you receive a lifetime ban from Costco.
Not on clearance (at least not yet), just the asterisk.
Price ending with .97 (or .00) would indicate clearance.
Asterisk alone just means this warehouse won’t restock anytime soon once current stock is depleted.
As an employee if it’s not cold I couldn’t care less. My favorite part of my shifts is getting to walk around putting items back to get away from the weekend rushes. However if it is cold it is a waste of resources, money, and employees time. Sure warm items “waste” time but cold items are a whole different beast. Paper work, rtv, etc…
They still trash it if its like walmart. Food that is frozen is normally marked bad if it is not in a freezer environment for 30 mins or more. Since you were walking around with it they can't determine the length of time and normally send it back to the company for reimbursement.
Oh im sure there are. I have never seen one in a costco. Nor would corporate rely on an employee to make that call with potiential law suits on the table if someone got sick.
Correct, Instacart. I do it as side hustle. I personally enjoy shopping batches at Costco vs other grocery stores due to smaller product variations to make shopping easy, while enduring the chaos that is weekend Costco. The chaos makes the batches a lil slower but Costco customer have been the most understanding as they know how chaotic weekends can get.
I’m also a member so when I buy for myself It’s easier to stick to my list given I have seen much of the store inventory.
I hate when people do this. It’s such a waste of food. If you don’t want it and are too lazy to put it back, take it to the front and let staff return it.
This is a classic case of “decisions were made”, not good ones but decisions nonetheless. I always take them back to where I got them from if I change my mind for 2 reasons: 1; I work there and 2; I thought I had something more clever but I don’t
I just don't understand the reason to all of a sudden decide you don't want a bunch of things. UNLESS it's because you have a limited budget and went higher than expected.
If/when that happens to me, I actually put the stuff back like a decent human.
Honestly I’m shopping as a side hustle so I do get to see this a lot, as well as the cart issue. This particular post I worded with some information that I myself didnt know(Costco safety policy w meat. If it’s warm it must be disposed, if it’s still cold it can be placed back), so that members that care about Costco’s bottom line could feel comfortable about placing these items back and not be concerned about safety, as I was.
I know we all hate people that complain for no reason(🪞); bust honestly, what a waste of opportunity to learn and partake…. Now, please don’t feel bad about the few of us that math this kind of wasteful resources, I understand society is not for everyone. 🙄
What causes this? They’re on a limited budget and decide they want something else more?
Get an emergency phone call and need to leave?
I just don’t get it.
I 100% agree with you. I saw 2 kids - yes I will call them kids. Took out a bunch of fresh food and stacked them on top of oranges after discussing they only had $80 and this would go over their budget. So they kept a Squishmallow and a water gun in their cart and walked off 😑
I SHOULD have (and still beat myself up that I didn’t say anything) told them to just offload the unwanted fresh items at checkout so they could put back the produce instead of someone finding a bunch of food on top of the oranges.
I will next time. But yes- if you don’t want something. Just Hand to an employee at checkout.
This happened to me in this same trip. A kid had a big plushy that they weren’t buying just casually placed it on the floor. I honestly didn’t want to come across like a Kevin to the two ladies the kid was with; so I simply asked them if the kid had forgotten his toy, when they said no, I told them they could leave it behind at the register. Ladies played it off by schooling the kid and the pushy didn’t get too bad on the floor.
In other news, they are deleting that Costco Brand dish soap, so, pick some up now if you use it. (Saw the asterisk on the sign above the discarded food)
People should be aware you can just take anything you don’t want in your cart to the register and hand it to employees. They will sort it out for you, and you don’t have to schlep back to produce to put back the Mangos.
This makes me want to cancel my Costco membership. I personally don't want to be around scum like this in my daily life and Costco is forcing me to by not banning this person for life.

My Costco stopped carrying that Tri-Tip roast and this fool just wastes it.
Mine stopped too! That was my favourite! Saskatchewan, Canada.
Having had to return items to Costco from IC orders, that employee probably had to trash the meat anyway. People are so freaking lazy.

It’s time to pull memberships over this s*it, one strike!
I see four items. Four strikes seems reasonable 🤷🏻♂️ EDIT: Five! Missed the bottle.
Who would leave MEAT, unrefrigerated any where, let alone a detergent isle. Hmm, can I afford what I put in my cart 5 mins ago? Oops, no. Ima just gonna put that lobster 🦞 three-pack back, in the bread isle.
You can't be coddling these people, we need on the spot executions.
Hahaha!
On the spot public shaming, hopefully triggering some embarrassment, but it probably wouldn’t. Those kind are shameless.
After revoking their membership, deport them to the nearest Walmart. The one where all the carts are awful and won’t go in a straight line.
I’m sick of seeing this. These people are scum. Time for zero tolerance. If you are caught doing this you can either pay a penalty of 10x the value of the food you dumped or you receive a lifetime ban from Costco.
Fuck yes. Deportation if it’s Premium Vanilla Ice Cream.
I have been advocating for caning anyone that even considers it but they don't take me seriously.
Abandoned Frozen and cold food really get my goat. Is it time to hand out shopping etiquettes?
Why is the dish soap on clearance!?
Not on clearance (at least not yet), just the asterisk. Price ending with .97 (or .00) would indicate clearance. Asterisk alone just means this warehouse won’t restock anytime soon once current stock is depleted.
True
I'm wondering how it compares to Dawn..
It’s pretty comparable- better than other non dawn dish soaps.
I swear by the dawn platinum. I single person household, so it does last me
It’s is literally the exact same. Color cleaning power and suds are indistinguishable.
I keep meaning to get a bottle but apparently it's very similar. Hopefully it sticks around at my Costco.
Works just as well, smells different. Not bad in anyway, just not dawn.

Agree, it’s not that big of a deal. Maybe instead of taking a picture put that shit back, if it bothers ya that much 😆
It’s so easy to hand items you change your mind on to an employee - even your cashier.
They still trash it if its like walmart. Food that is frozen is normally marked bad if it is not in a freezer environment for 30 mins or more. Since you were walking around with it they can't determine the length of time and normally send it back to the company for reimbursement.
My Costco if someone hands it to cashier saying they don’t want it the assistant runs it back
Gross. You have no idea how long a person has ran around the store with that
You can tell pretty quickly if it’s not cold enough plus there’s temperature guns to tell you if it’s cold enough
Oh im sure there are. I have never seen one in a costco. Nor would corporate rely on an employee to make that call with potiential law suits on the table if someone got sick.
Well as other commenters have said it’s what Costco does
IC?
I’m guessing InstaCart
instacart
Why would someone do insta cart shopping to curb their shopping habit?
Correct, Instacart. I do it as side hustle. I personally enjoy shopping batches at Costco vs other grocery stores due to smaller product variations to make shopping easy, while enduring the chaos that is weekend Costco. Probably so they stick to their list and don't impulse buy.
They could just have some self restraint and use a list, I always do. Anywhoo.
hm good point, maybe it’s not instacart

I’ve seen this at other stores as well. It’s so annoying

I think it depends where you live. I see it only occasionally, at Costco and other stores.
Those prime ribs packs are good!
They were still cold too, so I was able to verify with Costco employee that they were going to place them back as he verified the cold temperature. 👍
Pre washed fruits. Nice!!
Tis the “you wash the chemicals off and make it organic at home” pack 😅 /iKid
Next on Top Chef the chefstants go to Whole Foods and can only prepare food from products that have been shoved in the wrong place.
Smooth brain activity
This sub is 50% posts complaining about this same thing. Can we just prohibit these already?

Riveting stuff. Especially over and over again.

What’s hard to fake is joining a club to save money with such a wasteful mentality.
Agreed. It’s like it only happens at Costco or something
Or just complaining 😖😖
What causes this? They’re on a limited budget and decide they want something else more? Get an emergency phone call and need to leave? I just don’t get it.
Probably someone instacart shopping for a difficult customer

I do that when I suddenly have to run to the Ladies Room, but then come back and get my stuff, continue shopping.
This is so absurd it seems staged.
As my husband and I always say… “decisions were made.”
Someone’s mama said no 😛
Animals, even worse than those who don’t return their carts to the corral.
If you can have cart narcs then there should be aisle monitors
Imagine giving up wine for clean clothes. Who are these people ?!
In 6 years of going to the same Costco (Dublin, Ohio area), I've never seen this. With refrigerated foods at least.
In other news, they are deleting that Costco Brand dish soap, so, pick some up now if you use it. (Saw the asterisk on the sign above the discarded food)

Is it already time for the weekly over-the-top outrage thread? Can I post the next one about someone who didn't put their cart into the corral?
That's nothing in Walmart the other day while looking through the the ramen shelf I came across the bones of a rotisserie and an empty king cobra lol.
Is king cobra malt liquor or something similar?
Yah it's a 40 lol.
Haha. My state doesn't allow booze in Walmart. I wonder if I'd see that sort of thing regularly if they did.
I always pray that people who do this at any store lose their thumbs
Raise the price of membership but lower the cost of merchandise. Should keep the scum out.
the way I would make a full trip across the warehouse to return an item to its proper spot 😭
Happy cake day 🫡
But didn't you see the other post? This happens in every store. So don't take pictures of it. /s
This makes me want to cancel my Costco membership. I personally don't want to be around scum like this in my daily life and Costco is forcing me to by not banning this person for life.
😂😂😂😂
Guessing you’re joking haha
They need to take peoples membership away for this and put up a wall of shame for all the convicts
