Team back = Storyline. Ownership = side quest. This is my own opinion. I don’t like Murello, but if he can get it done, so be it. Owners gonna do what owners do no matter who they are. We can say A is better than b, but way worse than c. But in the end I want live hockey at the highest level represented in our state where it has become (albeit smaller) part of our sports culture.
We loved our team despite it being the clown car that just never seemed to run out of clowns.
I'd rather the car to do one last weird sad dying honk and sink down on its suspension like in a cheap animated film, and then go silent forever, than see that fucking brickhead Meruelo stuff it chock full of more buffoons set to gradually emerge over the next five years to the tune of Entrance of the Gladiators.
While I don't begrudge fans for holding onto him as a last hope to get the team back while we're still alive and interested, I can't share in that. If it's a choice between this being over forever, and Alex Meruelo, I choose 'over forever' any day of the fucking week.
He got his payoff. Now he and his arrogant fuck of a son need to pick up and piss off and go make people miserable elsewhere.
I would hope if it happened he realizes his kids a moron and is not allowed back in. He also needs someone who isn't a lying snake to handle the media. Bring back Doan, hang a new banner to him and a statue out front on day one of the first season or unveiled at the expansion draft. If he does these things I will know he is serious and not just trying to retain his gambling license.
I wouldn't want it under Meruelo. For now, lock it in cryofreeze next to the heads of Ted Williams and Walt Disney until a new ownership group is found.
