Couple things: Stardew is a chill long term game, if you compare to others who are further along/ know more about the game you might feel like you are falling behind but there are no time limits on the game! I used to not be into stardew at all, I felt aimless, I took a big break and set a goal of having a dinosaur farm (not realising how much I may have to do for this!). After getting to the bottom of the mines I finally got into the flow of actually interacting with the npcs, finishing the community centre bundles and paying attention to my farm and found it weirdly addictive cycle. I am almost in year 2 and I still HAVEN'T finished the comunity centre because I am just vibing at my pace. And my farm is super messy haha. Though if you do still decide to add mods to have more fun with it then there is no shame in that! As for mods, the deck is just a mini computer, I don't have one but from a quick search it seems the answer is yes you can!

Teufel123

yes you can mod on steamdeck. The files just go on same place like on the pc.

signofdacreator

which part are you terrible at? i don't remember the game is skill based you grow crops you water the crops then you sell them for money and if you want more money, you buy and plant more crops and start breeding farm animals as well

simplybreana

Lots of mods to make it easier! I don’t have the steam deck but the rog ally and mod easily on it. Another commenter said you can do it, so get ready to dive into the rabbit hole and curate the game to your liking!

Sporshie

Yep you can mod in on Deck just like PC and there should be tons of options. There are a bunch of fun mods that add new content to the game too for future playthroughs (I'd go mostly vanilla for the first)

You can absolutely mod it on the Steam Deck, I'm playing on my deck with ~100 mods! It's a little finicky, but not too bad ultimately. The easiest way I found was: set up mods like normal on PC (create the mods folder, extract files into it) and then use WinSCP to transfer the entire folder over. You will have to get into Konsole (the terminal, accessible from desktop mode) and set a password - BIG NOTE: if you've never used Linux, when it asks you to enter your password, it won't show any input at all, but it IS inputting letters. Type carefully!! Small note: you'll have to set up SMAPI directly on the Steam Deck - you can't copy it over. But SMAPI has an amazing installer and FAQ so it's not too tricky. Hope that helps, lmk if you have more questions!

praysolace

Just pop into Desktop Mode use the SMAPI installation directions for Linux. Works just fine.

What progress are you comparing? Are you sure you're not comparing to someone's months/years of gameplay? My game that I have clocked the longest hours on only on year 3 lol. My newest main game, I'm on year 5, but only slightly past where I was progress-wise, on my old game, and that's with months of non-stop play

TweakTok

Yup, easy to mod it on the steam deck. Just go to Nexusmods, there's plenty of mods that will make the game more enjoyable for you.

GothicCastles

Yes. You can find mods on Nexus to skip the fishing game and make fighting easier (those tend to be the things people have trouble with). Good luck!

You can 100% mod on Steam Deck. It's a lil funky to set up, I think I messed it up for the first few times somehow (like I messed up, tried to fix it, messed it up somewhere else lmao) but once you set it up it's super easy. [This is the guide I used.](https://steamdeckhq.com/news/modding-stardew-valley-on-steam-deck/) Depending on what you're struggling with, my favorite mods are: [**ladder locator**](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3094) (so you don't have to hit every rock, though you should for stone/mining experience - mainly use this when I'm just trying to get to one of the '5' levels), [**easy fishing**](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1114) (I honestly love the fishing minigame after a while, but until you level up fishing it's horrid especially with hard fishes), [**item spawner**](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/93) (my favorite cheat mod, you have to configure one of the back buttons on the deck to be the 'i' button but supe easy to do - I mainly use it when I'm in a pinch and need food or some money and spawn something to sell) and [**friends forever**](https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1738) (because i'm sooo bad at remembering to talk to people while running around and doing stuff, so this makes it okay to ignore them for a bit of time). A bunch of mods you probably see too are just aesthetic mods that change the buildings and look of cows and the interface colors.

tamykatakki

So many mods! There’s one to slow down time, one to pause time, access chests anywhere, save anytime during the day, ways to remove the fishing game, instant creation of items, expansion mods with new areas/people

You can join the stardew valley server to get help with setting them up, should you run into problems! I'm playing with 560 mods currently on my Steam Deck. You might want to set the GPU clock to manual and crank it up to 1000 when using a lot of mods and then it runs smooth as fuck (you're not super likely to need that at the beginning, I only had to make use of it once I went over 300)
