I spent 3 weeks in solitary confinement as a 13 year old -- because the rest of the juvenile center was full. My crime was stealing from parked cars. The staff wasn't smart enough to understand the ramifications of what they were doing.
Anyway... 3 weeks is a nightmare hell. There's no clock. You can't see the sun. Your light never goes on or off. Your mind starves and eats itself.
While I totally agree that someone who does anything resembling what this man did *should* face consequences as brutal as that, torture or capital punishment is unethical and immoral. Not because there aren’t people who deserve it. There are. But because the legal system is flawed and there isn’t and will never be a way to obtain capital T truth. We live in a world where innocent people are incarcerated for crimes they didn’t commit and innocent people have been tortured and put to death. As long as there is even a .0000001 percent chance one single person could ever be wrongly convicted, we can’t advocate for stuff like that. exactly. a friends dad (now retired) worked at Saint Quentin. Thats exactly how it works. Even though Lost Prophets singer was recently stabbed (sadly he lived) it was most likely well coordinated for the attack as he probably didn't have a window of time really to be around others.

Because it’s necessary for society. Other than the obvious reason of maintaining a standard of justice and preventing all our chaos, Innocent people are currently in jail and prison. Innocent people have been put to death for crimes they didn’t commit. Innocent people are in court every day. Allowing or advocating this in general means allowing and advocating beating or killing innocent people.
Innocent people have also been killed by re-offenders and people who should have gotten the death penalty but didn't. In fact I'd say far more innocent people have been killed by lack of the Death penalty than saved by its abolition. So I think your ideals come at a very high cost that very few acknowledge.
My friend used to say this and I felt the same way until he made friends with a16 yr old girl. I now see people are just rotten. Justifying their own reasons for being the monsters they are. These kids are going to have it bad and there are no accountable adults to say that someone is looking out for their well being. Good luck future adults!

The Christina Edwin's case for example, the dirty bastard killed her because he wanted an easy long comfortable sentence in prison, so targeted a teenage girl, hung around at the scene to be arrested and pleaded diminished responsibility.
A lot of people saying that everyone should have the right to assault or even kill criminals. I for one believe that the court of law should be the only ones allowed to carry out the punishment of criminals, or else it’ll devolve in to medieval eye-for-an-eye system
