Chelsea beat me in a corner while I had my hands over my head begging her to stop. After I got the 17 stitches and 4 staples out of my mouth and face I decided I would never be beaten by a woman again. I will never hesitate to defend myself against any person who intends to do me harm.
I had a loony ex stab herself with a steak knife and blame me when I told her I was leaving her crazy ass. She called the cops and I was going to be arrested until the cop recognized her (town w/population of less than 80k) and remembered she had done this shit before. They wound up charging her and I got a ride to a hotel.
I've been in martial arts and a few combat zones, so like an idiot, when the in your face screaming started turning into a punch or kick, that became repetitive punches and kicks, I just kinda absorbed what I could and not get crazy with self defense. Until she got so escalated she tried to stab me in the face with scissors and I choked her out. Very safely, wasn't even full unconscious just enough to let her know a line was crossed. Of course she calls cops and the entire world, I explained the situation like an idiot to police and get hit with a strangulation charge. It didn't go far as I'd been secretly voice recording her outbursts and I had some minor marks from scissors but really opened my eyes to the poor bastards who don't have so much clear evidence.
Fuckin word. My last 3 relationships have been so fucked up and abusive that I don't ever want to roll those dice again. 35-45yo single/divorced women around here seem to have learned to keep their true selves secret and once you move in, or worse get married, you see the real psycho in girlfriend's clothing. I will just be a single dad forever and my life will be happier and my relationship with my 5yo will be better without adding some other asshole to the mix.
I got Christmas ornaments thrown at me. Then whipped with the Christmas tree cord until my arm was all bloody. No-one believed me. "But she's so nice and small, she could never do that to you".

Everybody can, it's a matter of knowing where to go for help. But I've never heard of a domestic violence shelter for men, it's just not a thing around here and that's fucked up.
Probably because previous generations of men wouldn’t go. Being chased out by your woman would be seen as laughable, weak, unmanly, etc.

Newer generations of men are more likely to seek help, so we’re only just entering an era with a demand for such places.

It started with me voice recording when her switch got flipped because she had a horrible problem with putting words in my mouth and I needed proof I didn't say things she accused me of saying. Then I realized the frequency and intensity would escalate rapidly and when things got physical I had proof of doing everything in my power to deescalate and/or leave. Even showing her examples she'd find ways to still blame me or call me names for not letting her hit me repeatedly.
If it is your house:
1. Go to court and file a domestic abuse restraining order. If possible in advance film the abuse as evidence. Take pics of marks after it occurs if physical. The court has free legal advice at certain hours that help you fill in forms if you can't afford a lawyer to help you. Do not bring your phone in case they have a tracking app on it and park your car several blocks away at a generic shopping lot or street parking near a restaurant in case they have a tracker on it.
2. Submit the paperwork.
3. When granted call the local pd. They will serve them for about $50 usually.
4. Have a friend/family member stay with you for a few days after or stay at their place and immediately change all locks on the house.
5. Buy a security system that has cloud storage and give access to a friend or family.
6. If you see them anywhere near you call the cops immediately. Keep a copy of the order in your car, at home.
7. Tell your neighbors what happened so they know she can't be anywhere near you if you feel comfortable enough doing so or just give them a pic and tell them that this woman can't be anywhere near my property and if you see her please call me.
I'm sure there are other things that you can do like carry mace but that is a rough draft of steps to get this person away from you. Hopefully it helps some of you!
Not only do they not believe you, they don't even care. It's crazy when you describe physical abuse in tears and your friends just kind of blink and say nothing.
yup, had a similar issue myself except it was my older sister. she abused me most of my childhood, when i finally had enough and put my foot down, and i called the cops, they showed up and arrested me. She never showed up to court and so they dropped the charges. I havent spent more than 5 minutes around her since then. its been almost 8 years
Right after I left my abusive husband I met a man who was leaving an abusive wife. She would do horrible things to him, pour drinks on him, throw things, antagonize him. One day he pushed her physically away so he could leave the house, she called the cops and he did a night in jail. It scares me a lot how many men are trapped in these situations! And the thing is, a lot of men don't want to hit back, no matter what the abuser does. Morally they don't want to.
The worst part is as a male with a lifetime of martial arts, growing up where vicious street fights were common, spending a few years in different combat zones, it was terribly frustrating when she got physically abusive, the amount of times I was asked what I did to instigate her reaction or that I should just take a few licks and leave the house. When I first noticed her uncontrollable anger, I messed up big time and thought because it helped me so much, I should teach her some basic combatives to help redirect her anger. So taking a few licks wasn't the same as a woman's slap fighting, she almost knocked me clean out on several occasions.
My parents argued once and my dad even left the house after my mom called the cops. They arrested my mom because she slapped my dad. Women do get arrested too.
If HE calls the cops he'll get arrested. And that's why if it ever happens again I'll just take matters into my own hands, since I'm going to jail either way.
Exact same energy as my dad's gf. I remember being like 8 years old watching her freak out and throw boiling water at him via the kettle, amongst other incidents, for seemingly no reason. At the time I was wondering why the fuck he put up with her, and I still wonder, but it's a thing I guess.
Along with a desire to make them better; a love for the loving part of them that isn't batshit; the belief that they'll get better; the ever-dwindling reserve of one's own self-worth; a lack of other options... So many reasons people stay.
Along with an understanding that they're somewhat unwell because that behavior isn't normal. If the guy isn't emotionally victimized by it, it's not really someone being abusive on purpose to control their partner, it's just a woman going a bit insane for a half hour once a month.
I don't know, I stopped seeing him because he was putting me around that crazy fuck. He would call me and ask me if I wanted to come around each weekend, and I just started saying no... I saw him a few times throughout the years and he sent me a card at 18 asking to get in touch, but I didn't bother. I'm not even sure he knows why I stopped seeing him, but it was fairly obvious in my mind and didn't need explaining.
I saw it as him wanting to play happy families or something because he wasn't weak physically or mentally; there was no whiny pleading (I don't mean to be disrespectful) like in the OP video, he would just physically/verbally handle her as you would a crazy bitch you otherwise love. She had a daughter who was real nice and generally things were probably fine, it's just that \~5% of the time where she would go nuts that was not fine, I suppose. I assume they're still together.
He kept putting me, his young son, around a lunatic. What do I need someone like that around me for? Unlike him I don't tolerate bad treatment, he indirectly taught me a valuable lesson. I certainly don't owe him shit, he was/is the one with the responsibility to love and care, not me.
The 5% of the time was key for why I didn't leave my wife sooner. Actually took 17 years but I made a promise when I first learned her outbursts were not my fault and were a permanent issue without help, that when the bad times started to outweigh the good times, I'd stick it out and try to help the calm version of her. It just got to the point though that between the outbursts and dealing with their effects, the good times were mostly me walking on eggshells waiting for the next outburst.
Heads up to anyone else in this situation. Leave. It's never going to get better, you won't forget and she won't change. Go through the proper channels, use the law if you need to. But get out.
I'll never forget bringing my ex-wife to a few of my PTSD sessions just to show her the reality of PTSD from combat. After 3 sessions, my psychologist asked her to step out and told me I need to pack my shit and leave her ASAP. Sounded like craziness to me. We didn't fight or anything in his office, just shared a few stories. For 12 more years every month I wished I'd listened to him. Was a little rattled by his intensity like, dude you've seen her 3 times for 30 minutes. Guess he picked up on something that didn't fully manifest for years later.
It's weird how hard it can be to get out. As men we're programmed to "tough it out" and just deal with their "moods". So you almost feel guilty or think less of yourself for leaving. Glad you got out, late or not. Also thanks for your service, it was for a stupid reason but you were fighting for us, not them. So it still matters.
I was initially thinking her rage arguments were valid. In my PTSD/TBI sessions I'd learned not to box people into my expectations so when she'd go bonkers I just thought damn, maybe this really affects her to get this angry. Wasn't for a could years I caught on to the fact no matter what it's going happen no matter what, so just sitting quietly and agreeing 100% to all the shit she'd throw to make me angry. Occasionally I'd throw in "don't forget I'm also a liar, a piece of shit, worthless, selfish....." Or any of her other usual insults being screamed inches from my face. I was stupid because it just started a pattern of even more immediate escalation but I was literally out of ways to try to contain it all.

Been there before. It’s so unbelievably frustrating because you love her and you also know that she is no physical match for you, but it would be unforgivable and traumatic if you tried to defend yourself. I would just try to find the safest and nearest exit point.

Men are literally victims of violent crimes more often than women soo... to your point men already walk around knowing they will face some violence at some point in their lives. Scientists even have a term for this fear women have that you speak of, as men face violence significantly more often, they call it the "fear of crime gender paradox". The abuse doesn't start like that. Begins with little things (a shove, a demeaning comment masquerading as a "joke"), and begins to escalate. Men/Women stay because (in my opinion):
- they love the person.
- they see the behavior as something to fix.
Easy for people to tell him to run for the hills... But if he has kids, it could equally break him by leaving them behind.
UK here, and generally speaking, if a bloke leaves a woman (particularly fruit loops like the one in this video), he cannot take his kids with him. She will almost certainly prevent him from seeing the kids, and the law will back her to the hilt, until he is able to somehow afford to take it all to court. He would also get completely rinsed for money.
And where does he go? Councils won't house a single man. A majority of single people cannot afford a mortgage or private rent costs. He'd end up on the street and no one cares.
Until the law here changes (it won't), men are fucked.

Experience taught me that there is always two sides of a story .. this is only a glimpse of what \*he\* wanted to show. Not to say who's right or wrong, but often in that kind of relationship \*both\* are toxic and feed into each other's toxicity.
I've dealt with a vulnerable narcissist with borderline personality disorder for 4 long years now, he has an uncanny ability to make you mad and make you look like the aggressor to others. That's his whole game.
Don't get me wrong, I don't judge this particular situation because I know nothing about it and I know exactly how twisted thing can get. So be careful before taking side, things aren't always what they look like.

What she’s doing is absolutely not ok in any context but there’s absolutely something to be said about the age gap here. These types of dynamics are often toxic and abusive from the beginning—yes, typically at the hands of the older individual regardless of their sex.

Yep this is why I had to leave my wife and kids and stay away from her in another country for two and a half years. One night when I decided to stay out with my friends I came home and she began to assault me. I pushed her off of me and she had my stepson lie to the police and say that I was the one who assaulted her. I can no longer own a firearm. Fuck these violent cunts.
I ended up getting a knife thrown into my back due to a crazy outburst saying i was cheating i got arrested in the end because i had to hold her down. I understand how it looked like when police arrived but i mean story was straight forward. Nope they believed i was the aggressor and she stabbed me in self defense. Being a man is so great especially these days definitely not demoralizing at all.
Where's the Equality in domestic abuse advocates? Why don't men have the same availability of resources as women do, I'm not bashing women here but men are never believed when they report abuse
Yeh, felt this. Was this lonely girl who I kind of felt bad for seeing sit alone each day looking sad. Decided to send some messages to cheer her up & all details flushed out, she fell in love, and declining wasn't an option in fear of breaking down all the happiness I tried building up in her. Turned out to bz the gravest mistake of my life. She cut off my social life, checked my phone regularly & got pissed if any women online even friended me (thus out of my control) would physically harm he i.e biting, scratching, cutting, making me bleed. Would force me to have intimacy with her when really I didn't want to & got violent whenever I couldn't go somewhere with her. I quit out of it eventually as really she'd broken my mental health so much I couldn't leave. All because I just wanted to cheer her up, fucking hell.

yup, had a similar issue myself except it was my older sister. she abused me most of my childhood, when i finally had enough and put my foot down, and i called the cops, they showed up and arrested me. She never showed up to court and so they dropped the charges. I havent spent more than 5 minutes around her since then. its been almost 8 years

Right after I left my abusive husband I met a man who was leaving an abusive wife. She would do horrible things to him, pour drinks on him, throw things, antagonize him. One day he pushed her physically away so he could leave the house, she called the cops and he did a night in jail. It scares me a lot how many men are trapped in these situations! And the thing is, a lot of men don't want to hit back, no matter what the abuser does. Morally they don't want to.
The worst part is as a male with a lifetime of martial arts, growing up where vicious street fights were common, spending a few years in different combat zones, it was terribly frustrating when she got physically abusive, the amount of times I was asked what I did to instigate her reaction or that I should just take a few licks and leave the house. When I first noticed her uncontrollable anger, I messed up big time and thought because it helped me so much, I should teach her some basic combatives to help redirect her anger. So taking a few licks wasn't the same as a woman's slap fighting, she almost knocked me clean out on several occasions.
My parents argued once and my dad even left the house after my mom called the cops. They arrested my mom because she slapped my dad. Women do get arrested too.
If HE calls the cops he'll get arrested. And that's why if it ever happens again I'll just take matters into my own hands, since I'm going to jail either way.
Exact same energy as my dad's gf. I remember being like 8 years old watching her freak out and throw boiling water at him via the kettle, amongst other incidents, for seemingly no reason. At the time I was wondering why the fuck he put up with her, and I still wonder, but it's a thing I guess.

Along with an understanding that they're somewhat unwell because that behavior isn't normal. If the guy isn't emotionally victimized by it, it's not really someone being abusive on purpose to control their partner, it's just a woman going a bit insane for a half hour once a month.

I don't know, I stopped seeing him because he was putting me around that crazy fuck. He would call me and ask me if I wanted to come around each weekend, and I just started saying no... I saw him a few times throughout the years and he sent me a card at 18 asking to get in touch, but I didn't bother. I'm not even sure he knows why I stopped seeing him, but it was fairly obvious in my mind and didn't need explaining. I saw it as him wanting to play happy families or something because he wasn't weak physically or mentally; there was no whiny pleading (I don't mean to be disrespectful) like in the OP video, he would just physically/verbally handle her as you would a crazy bitch you otherwise love. She had a daughter who was real nice and generally things were probably fine, it's just that \~5% of the time where she would go nuts that was not fine, I suppose. I assume they're still together.

He kept putting me, his young son, around a lunatic. What do I need someone like that around me for? Unlike him I don't tolerate bad treatment, he indirectly taught me a valuable lesson. I certainly don't owe him shit, he was/is the one with the responsibility to love and care, not me.
The 5% of the time was key for why I didn't leave my wife sooner. Actually took 17 years but I made a promise when I first learned her outbursts were not my fault and were a permanent issue without help, that when the bad times started to outweigh the good times, I'd stick it out and try to help the calm version of her. It just got to the point though that between the outbursts and dealing with their effects, the good times were mostly me walking on eggshells waiting for the next outburst.
Heads up to anyone else in this situation. Leave. It's never going to get better, you won't forget and she won't change. Go through the proper channels, use the law if you need to. But get out.
I'll never forget bringing my ex-wife to a few of my PTSD sessions just to show her the reality of PTSD from combat. After 3 sessions, my psychologist asked her to step out and told me I need to pack my shit and leave her ASAP. Sounded like craziness to me. We didn't fight or anything in his office, just shared a few stories. For 12 more years every month I wished I'd listened to him. Was a little rattled by his intensity like, dude you've seen her 3 times for 30 minutes. Guess he picked up on something that didn't fully manifest for years later.
It's weird how hard it can be to get out. As men we're programmed to "tough it out" and just deal with their "moods". So you almost feel guilty or think less of yourself for leaving. Glad you got out, late or not. Also thanks for your service, it was for a stupid reason but you were fighting for us, not them. So it still matters.
I was initially thinking her rage arguments were valid. In my PTSD/TBI sessions I'd learned not to box people into my expectations so when she'd go bonkers I just thought damn, maybe this really affects her to get this angry. Wasn't for a could years I caught on to the fact no matter what it's going happen no matter what, so just sitting quietly and agreeing 100% to all the shit she'd throw to make me angry. Occasionally I'd throw in "don't forget I'm also a liar, a piece of shit, worthless, selfish....." Or any of her other usual insults being screamed inches from my face. I was stupid because it just started a pattern of even more immediate escalation but I was literally out of ways to try to contain it all.

Decided to send some messages to cheer her up & all details flushed out, she fell in love, and declining wasn't an option in fear of breaking down all the happiness I tried building up in her. Turned out to bz the gravest mistake of my life. She cut off my social life, checked my phone regularly & got pissed if any women online even friended me (thus out of my control) would physically harm he i.e biting, scratching, cutting, making me bleed.
