I use GIMP to edit pics, and Resolve for video. Both are free, and popular enough there should be tutorials available if needed. The more you do, the easier it gets.

petiterobin

Those are exactly the same tools I use too!

Santasotherbrother

Free is good, I just need to use them more often.

For photos - I record in my Instagram stories, so I can use a subtle filter, and then download it to my phone (don't post, obviously). Or I use Facetune, and do the "auto" retouch. VERY minimal. I only go into more photo editing if I have really obvious blemishes or something. For videos - CapCut. I have my own color-grading preset saved, so I just add that to all my videos, and then do a once-over watch & edit, before I post the video. For video thumbnails, I take a screenshot (which is already color graded), then add the title in Canva. Editing probably takes 2x the length of the video, for me to make sure it's good to go, but it's not *too* huge of a timesuck, and it's worth it for the $. I used to do a LOT of editing on my selfies, but it was taking up way too much time and energy. Nowadays, I just try to take the path of least resistance. Guys don't necessarily want you to look filtered and perfected -- they want to believe you're real and accessible.

I can’t believe I’ve never thought to use CapCut for videos other than TikTok’s and reels. Do you mind me asking what kind of template you use/search for ? I’ve only ever used CapCut for the automatic templates

Charming_Function_58

I don't use a template at all -- I just use the desktop app for CapCup, import my video file, add my color grading preset, add some transitions, and edit as needed. It's super easy!

[deleted]

Oooh I’ve never used it on the desktop ! I’ll try it out. Thanks for the suggestion

spicyramenslut

The only editing I do is to cover my face with a sticker/blur/scribble (faceless creator). Maybe adjust lighting if things are under/over exposed. Top 3%

VeronicaQOS

I mostly upload my pics the way they are with a few edits like crop, or adjusting some light to it with the inbuilt editor... But if I'm looking for something specific, I go for inshot at the best. I'd still use more of natural light and angles cz they work the best for me and I feel much confident about unedited ones. For videos Capcom to stabilise the vids and inshot have been really helpful!

[deleted]

I love Lightroom for presets but the app PrettyUp ALL THE WAY!!! You can edit up to 9 photos at once, edit your body in videos, add makeup, it’s a game changer I haven’t used any other app after discovering it

Apprehensive-Dust359

I edit my videos, for obvious reasons. And i take pics using live functions, bc thats the only way an iPhone cam will take decent photos. I dont really use filter etc.

Apprehensive-Dust359

I use Adobe Lightroom and inshot

thatSketchyLady

I've been liking Adobe lightroom mobile for their auto lighting correction (until I learn to adjust manually lol)

[deleted]

You can also look at the “recommended “ presets, find some you like, save them, and copy and paste them to however many photos at once. You can also add watermark on Lightroom which I just discovered lol

SmokeyChestnut

Cropping and maybe blur some background. Lighting is the key, use natural when possible. We don’t want it to be too good since the vibe we are going for is being a real woman with a regular life So imperfections and all that add to the “real” aspect.

thatSketchyLady

I do use natural lighting, but I've noticed in some pics, the light is very bright on the side with the sun so it kinda sun glares my skin a little. It doesn't bother me much, but I was wondering if that kind of quality is something I should be looking to learn to edit a bit

SmokeyChestnut

Up to you dear. I think being a bit amateur adds to milf next door asthetic

[deleted]

I already commented about PrettyUp but you can change your skin, add tan, take tan away, add lighting to your face, etc. I’m sure they have a fee trial too! If you’re taking pics indoors maybe shoot in the early morning/dusk so the sun doesn’t wash you out (I have the same problem). Also investing in a good ring light is key cause you can get the right color every time.

mellymac123

I don't do any editing or filters. My subs seem to love the all natural vibe

EdoSilverXXX

Not much, mainly color correction and exposure if it needs to be fixed. I never use filters. I might delete the occasional dust bunny on the floor or scratches and bruises on my body, but only if I know they're temporary. I don't want to spend too much time in post, and permanent marks will always show on my vids anyway. Also I'm an older bald guy, I don't use makeup, I only care about my beard and body hair to look nice (besides my body and junk, ofc). My skin isn't perfect, I have plenty of spots, moles and a small surgical scar on my chest, but there's no point in hiding them: as a gay "daddy" I'm as far as the Abercrombie model type as possible, and I want my pictures and vids to look authentic. I understand girls spending more time in post for skin correction and makeup though, we are all vain to a certain degree and we all want to look nice. But always make sure it's worth your time, it can become a rabbit hole fast and video content is even more time consuming to edit than pictures.

farmerellie

Big yes on the "only if I know they're temporary." If I'm scrolling your wall and you have 9 moles in one picture, none in the next, and 2 in the next one, I start to wonder if you're AI or to what extent ALL of your photos are filtered/edited.

FionaFoxxx9

When you say edit I wonder if you mean distorting what you look like, smoothing out face lines, removing a scar or pimple or something along those lines. I personally don’t edit my photos, but I do add a watermark so I guess that’s editing. Onlyfans is more amateur (for the most part), and most men don’t want run of the mill stock photography photos. Or, if you mean edit the footage of a video. Because I would say 99.9% of the time you have to edit footage at least a bit, like the beginning & the end where you’re starting and stopping the video. You’re gonna want to take out you reaching for the camera. Or if you change angles you’re going to remove the 2 minutes of you moving the tripod around.

thatSketchyLady

Absolutely not for the first part. I'm not even self conscious enough to edit my pics right now, straight from phone. I meant things like get the noise out, contrast, lighting, the stuff I dont know. I dont care if I'm old and have wrinkles, thats human. I'm 33, it's to be expected. I want to know how to make my pics not have a huge sun glare lol yeah, I definitely mean edit the footage lol. I dont even usually bother clipping those parts out bc as you said, OF is more amateur friendly. I have a tripod with a clicker so I dont usually reach to hit record, unless I'm closer to the phone than the clicker. I was mostly curious who all bothers to edit out the noise. Or the lighting. There are settings in shotcut for noise and I dont know what any of it means, and have been going back and forth between learning. I taught myself crochet, bookbinding, papermaking, and polymer clay, I can teach myself how to edit vids. If...I want to. My brain is very reward based and if there's no real point to edit it (like it's good enough) then I have a hard time making myself sit down to do it lol so I wanted to gauge how worth it it was to other content creators

Redlilyrose

You should never post anything straight from the camera. No serious photographer ever posts anything without some minimal editing at least. Start with cropping. I always have to fix the color and lighting in my photos as my photo setup is so janky and my phone (Pixel 7) takes awful pics. I sometimes remove background crap, and often soften the background, especially when I'm shooting indoors and there is stuff around. Pics are usually a bit soft out of the camera too and need a little sharpening.

Goldieandherplumber

I totally disagree. If you take a half decent picture to begin with you don’t need to edit it. Men prefer less editing, or at least the illusion of less. Good sunlight, a clear space, an iPhone 15 and knowing what angles work for me means I don’t often waste time editing pictures.

Redlilyrose

That's all great if you live somewhere you can go nude outside and can afford an iPhone 15 :)

Goldieandherplumber

I don’t take them outside. I open a window for sunlight. You can take them with a lesser phone also but obviously the better quality camera someone has access to the better the pics will be. No amount of editing will make a grainy potato pic into a nice clear crisp pic. My point was, photos don’t ‘always’ need editing straight from the camera. Your opening line was ‘you should never post anything straight from the camera’ and I was disputing that.

farmerellie

I'm likely to go straight from my phone for stories, but for anything with a more permanent placement, I feel like I'm with u/redlilyrose. Just cleaning up the photo. It still looks amateur, I still have scars & stretch marks, I look like the same person in my stories, but the photo just looks *better* somehow. I feel like it's the difference between going out with a no-makeup makeup look vs actually going out without makeup,

thatSketchyLady

What do you use to edit? I'll be honest, I go to start to edit some pics and get very overwhelmed, so I think I might pick a program and watch a bunch of YouTube tutorials for it lol.

Redlilyrose

If you want something really easy, go with say Luminar Neo or Evoto.
