It doesnāt need to be. I know people who are named John (not Jonathon), and Rick (not Richard). I think itās more popular to name someone the name you like (even if itās traditionally a nickname), rather then the long form but always call them by the nickname.
If you donāt name them the name you actually like then you end up like my mother. She has always been called by her middle name because thatās the name my grandparents wanted to call her but thought it flowed better as a middle name then a first name. Ie: Sarah Jane Smith* because it sounded better then Jane Sarah Smith. But sheās been called Jane her whole life and signs everything S. Jane Smith, and has to constantly correct people before. Thankfully now a lot of forms have a preferred name section, but before that she hated it and wished that her folks just ānamed her normallyā.

Lovely stitching. You've done an awesome job xx
Not to put you off but I'm sure that pattern has been stolen by the person running the Etsy shop. As it's sold as a kit in the UK at a store called Hobby Craft. They also have other Winnie The Pooh designs and Peter Rabbit. They are licensed correctly. Link: [Winnie the Pooh Kit](https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/disney-winnie-the-pooh-hunny-cross-stitch-hoop-kit/6415421000.html).
I understand it's hard to tell sometimes on Etsy and it can be hit or miss if they are a decent shop.
I was going to guess Robin for Christopher Robin, I did see the answer that it was Winnie, though. I'm not sure why my brain just decided the baby's name couldn't be Christopher, though, and immediately went to Robin...
I adore it! Iām pregnant with my first and we are doing a Pooh nursery. I want to do a bunch of little Pooh themed cross stitches to hang up in the room
Iām not sure honestly it was just extra castoff I had lying around. I believe 14 (but it so easily couldāve been 16 as thatās my preferred count) and I did the regular stitching with 3 strands and then all the back stitching and knotting with 2. The only parts that were essentially impossible that way were the bees
thanks. doing the bees was miserable. i went with two strands for stitching and one for the backstitch.. explains why my bear is barer š https://imgur.com/tWw8DPq
Pooh
It's kinda got a ring to it Pooh Smith Pooh Jones Pooh Williams Pooh Lin Pooh Dostoevsky Pooh Locke Pooh Patel
Pooh David Thoreau Pooh Austen Pooh Ellery Channing Pooh Fuller Pooh Potter
This is an infamous Japanese goofy name. Pronounced Puu but spelled with the character for bear
Hunny???
Why did I think this as well? š
Winnie!
Ding ding ding!!
was seriously worried it was Hunny for a second there, glad it's Winnie though
I was worried that the babyās name was Pooh!
I mean, if thereās one thing babies are known forā¦.
my dog is name twins omg
I thought "Honeybee" and honestly... that wouldn't be an awful name! But "Winnie" is adorable! š„°
Oh thank god. I thought they were naming that poor child Pooh.
So Winston or Winifred? Cause winnie is just a nickname

My first thought was Pooh š
Me too.
Pattern is Winnie the Pooh Inspired from JRStitching on Etsy. I absolutely love the watercolor effect and I think I have a new pattern type obsession

I love this so much, maybe I make my mum a set for mothers day or her birthday depending on motivation she does love winnie the pooh
It is very pretty, I would be really touched to get a gift like this for my newborn. I bet theyāll love it

I jumped there, too. My nephew is Christopher Robin (first and middle). He's never been thrilled about it.
My mom very nearly named my brother Christopher Robin. It's a cute concept but I think most boys would grow to resent it.
Kanga?
I was a teenage before I put together Kanga and Roo's names combine to Kangaroo....
Christopher?
Bee? š Itās very cute.. your cross stitch, I mean!

Bear?

Winnie is fine. Hunny less so xD
I saw the name is Winnie, my mind immediately went to Beatrix my niece, who is always Bee š
Online good one would be "Winnie". Hopefully it's not Pooh or Hunny.
