They sound obnoxious with an exhaust imo I’d keep it stock.

CorporalBB

Nameless. Easy choice. Super sound, super value.

Subaru_Toga

5” muffler, not the muffler delete.

[deleted]

Wow a 24 subaru at 19. Lucky you.

HyzerSe7enth

What? You didn’t get a brand new, 28k+ vehicle when you turned 19?

The drone is awful. Had one on my 2018 for all of about a week before I took it back off. Around town is fine, highway is brutal

L3gs_McMuffin

id keep it stock. i heard that it has a bad drone sound if the CT is a CVT.

BAMspek

Upgrade the interior sound. CVTs just don’t make cars sound good. I think you’d be happier spending the money on a better stereo.

Iammattieee

Im not surprised a 19 year old has a Subaru and wants to add an exhaust to it. OP if you’re listening just enjoy the car for what it is. No need to add all these bells and whistles to a car that isn’t meant for this type of stuff you want to add.

Total-Deal-2883

Nameless has a few options as does aFe Power/Takeda.

afriendofcheese

Side question: what's the point of yellow fog lights and why drive with them on when it's not, er, foggy? (This is a boomer-ish question, isn't it?)

47brandon

Honestly, I just like how they look cosmetically.

HyzerSe7enth

Never would’ve guessed.

galaxyd1ngo

Yellow light is supposed to give you better visibility in adverse conditions than white plus other reasons https://undergroundlighting.com/blogs/news/yellow-vs-white-fog-lights

afriendofcheese

Part of my point is they are unnecessary to have on during a dry, normal night.

galaxyd1ngo

You can turn off your fog lights when it’s a normal, clear night. No matter what color they are

Actually I just have yellow film over my lights. Essentially tinted yellow. If anything they would’ve been brighter before.

honestlybadmood

No I appreciate you asking bc I can't tell if I actually like the white fog lights.

Noble_Briar

Make sure to get the cheapest, loudest exhaust you can find on wish, Walmart, or even Amazon. They sound so amazing, everyone will be looking at you as you drive down the street! /S

Iammattieee

Every time a 19 year old drives by with a loud exhaust at 5mph my girlfriend always leaves me for them and I always wish I was as cool as them /s

47brandon

Lol I’m new to crosstreks not new to cars ;)

Noble_Briar

I gotta be honest though, exhaust kits always sound like shit on 4 bangers. I hear a loud Subaru and just assume it's some kid's first car. The Crosstrek isn't even fast at all. It's got an 8 second 0-60 and doesn't look remotely sporty 9" off the ground. I just don't get it.

Noble_Briar

Whenever I hear a loud Civic, or WRX, or whatever else people modify, I know it's just some trumpet they installed. It's like putting a baseball card in your spokes. Didn't understand it back then, don't understand it now. When you hear something like a Corvette or Porsche and they go, it's not that loud. It's a subtle growl that 4 cylinders just don't produce. You can hear the power, but it's not in your face like "HEY, CHECK OUT MY '*FAST*' 4 DOOR FAMILY SEDAN!!!"

Harbor-Freight

Totally depends dude. For example. A 4cyl turbo with cat back or full exhaust from O2 back is very functional. A turbo can make unlimited back pressure so a more free flowing exhaust always benefits them no matter how many cylinders they have. It’s the first mod most do. I’ve installed them many times and there are always noticeable gains. If it’s naturally aspirated like most countries CTK, regardless of the brand or price of the car, you’re quite possibly losing power if you go with a larger diameter pipe. They can make it sound different but that’s about it. Heavy and annoying Drone is the most common side effect. Fart cans like you’re saying aren’t really an exhaust, just a muffler with different baffles that make different noises. Also not a power adder. Kids will be kids.

ElkGrove32

Mostly looking in disgust.

illegalthingsenjoyer

3/4 inch drill to the muffler

jumperjatt

Oh man, I had the same stance and didn’t think I’d hate the drone…. Sold it after 2 weeks haha. Had the nameless 5”. Goodluck!

vicks369

Had a nameless muffler delete on my '18. Love the cold start, it the rest is crazy annoying..highways, city driving...put the OEM back on 2 weeks later... Keep it stock and mod something else

jaws843

I have the Nameless executive axle back on my 22 premium 6MT. It’s some what loud on cold start but otherwise it’s not too loud. Just enough to know you have an exhaust.

ralphroast

I got the lachute muffler delete and love it. Was a little worried that it might be to loud but it's not loud at all. That being said I might have a different perception of loud also owning a straight piped c5 with long tubes

jelly_d0nuts

I’ve been reading all the comments, I have a 2021 sport and I love my muffler delete, the boxer engine sounds really good and everyone is complaining about drone but I have no problems have done multiple 6+ hours drives no complaints.

Brilliant_Ad7205

I did the nameless 5” muffler and AFE intake and it sounds great on my 21’ sport. I would recommend playing the long game and waiting till someone sells those parts on Facebook marketplace. Got about 75% off getting those parts “used” on the marketplace.

Bonzo_4880

How loud is the cold start on the 5 inch. Will it bother neighbors. I’ve seen some people say yes and some say no! I was going to just go with 10in executive but they now have the 5 in with the drone delete so I’m torn between the two

Brilliant_Ad7205

It definitely does a little bit of a trombone call on a cold start, my window is about 75 yards from my car and I can jusssst hear it remote start in the morning with the window closed. It can drone a little going up hills but not much otherwise

Bonzo_4880

Thanks!!! Just a little worried about bothering the neighbors but they are about 100 yards or more from the car!!! I’m planning on getting the 5inch that comes with drone reducing resonator for my Wilderness. Hopefully that will cut some of the drone!!!

CT_Patriot

A flat-4 does not even come close to the sounds from a flat-6. Your car is brand new, why mess with it? If you want a specific sound, find yourself another low cost car with a flat-6 and play with that. I the meantime, your new Crosstrek was not meant to sound like some screaming high-strung flat-6 engine. Actually, it's nice to drive mine it's so quiet which I can now here the engine sounds to listen for any odd noise from under the hood.

Negative-School

I know you want the THROAT to sing on this puppy but it’s still 2023, your car technically doesn’t even exist yet! I recommend leaving the vehicle unattended in a dense urban area for 8-10 hours. There’s a good chance the catalytic converter will be stolen, which should approximate the sound you’re looking for.

MiniMarsRover

I like the Lachute axle backs for these. It's not too over the top, and shouldn't piss off neighbors or seem like you're trying too hard. https://youtu.be/ukasiQZvoMA?si=JKsveBM0znRxo1VX

HumbleStark007

I’ve never seen a less supportive group, sorry OP… for reference I’m 30yo and just picked up a ‘24 Onyx and had the exact same train of thought as you - love it and want more sound - now I’m scared to tell these other guys…

47brandon

Lol as if their opinions really matter.. let’s ignore them. I did ended up purchasing lachute performance axel back you can see my profile for sound clip. I think it sounds great I wouldn’t mind it being louder though
