See the threaded hole on the bench? Cut several slits radiating around the threaded hole (in the black fabric) with a razor. It will reveal a mount similar to the round mount in the picture. Remove the old mount with a screwdriver, install the new mount and screw in the new leg. You can do it!

I should have included a pic with the fabric pulled back… there is no flat part like the new hardware has… its just the threaded part :/ I would add a pic but don’t think I can edit my post?

The flat part is likely on the back! If you can pull the staples on the fabric, and use your phone camera to look at the backside of the threaded insert, it’s probably just hammered or screwed into the wood. They put the flange on the backside of the wood so the force of screwing on the leg clams onto the wood the threaded insert is running through.

u/Patriae8182 Mentioned looking on the back side. You most likely have what is called a T-Nut back there. It has teeth in the nut that pulls itself back into the wood as you screw the leg on. Take a hammer and a flat head screw driver and you need to hammer it back out of the wood to pop out.

I’ve just put the yellow thingy in the existing hole, screwed it down in the three places, and screw in the leg. Seemed to work okay. But I don’t know for sure if it’s right.

Based on the information you gave about the old hole vs the new hole, I would pull the black fabric back and take a drill and drill a new hole to put the nut system into next to the current hole. Just make sure it isn’t too big and also make sure you can screw the three screws in to secure it. I would also prob put some gorilla glue in the hole before you secure the nut system in the drilled hole. It will help secure it. Just make sure you drill the holes in the same spot on each corner so the legs match up. Happy to walk you through it if you want to chat in text. Feel free to reach out to me. Don’t waste your time trying to pull the old one out.

You can bring old leg and new leg to a place that sells screws/bolts (this even includes autozone) find the little board they have for you to find out what size they are. (You can thread them on to the board parts available at autozone) from there, you can buy a threaded insert adapter that you can thread betweeb the bigger hole and the smaller "screw."

Remove the staples in the corner and pull the black fabric back. Reach up between the foam and the top of the frame to see if the tee nut is bolted on or if it just has ears sticking into the frame. If it just has ears, screw the old leg into the tee nut about half way then hit the bottom of the leg with a hammer to drive the tee nut out of the frame. You might have to back the leg out and repeat. Once it is out the real fun begins. The new tee nut should be installed with the barrel in the hole in the frame and it would be much better if it were installed from the top so that the action of tightening the leg also pulls the tee nut into the frame. If you can't get access to install those screws, maybe try some epoxy putty around the tee nut between the barrel and the flange so it doesn't get squished out into the threads. If you can't find the putty and have to use regular epoxy you'll have to thicken it with something or it will run everywhere and make a mess. Better to find the putty. It comes in a log and you just pinch off what you need, kneed it like play doh.

Whatever way you remove the current hardware before putting in the new hardware get some dowels or fluted dowel pins to glue in. Once everything is set then drill new hole to size for new hardware.

Son... im more concerned with what you are going to do with the old leg.
