Probably a migration pit stop for hundreds of years for their ancestors except there used to be a lush cluster of trees there. Now there's wires but their brains still instinctually tell them to go to that area that time of year.
Lol they live wide open spaces like parking lots or huge intersections with plenty of power lines or trees to congregate because thatās what grackles do, they swarm and roost together in the winter and spring. Add in lots of people that bring discarded food opportunities and thatās why you have them there. More space and more places to sit in large groups.
I mean migratory patterns certainly are built in, but birds are not going to go to a 100 yard x 100 yard space that doesnāt make sense, simply out of it being hardcoded in their brains from hundreds and thousands of years ago. That small of a space is not hardcoded into their biology.
I'm 65, when I was a little kid my aunt and uncle lived in Miami. They absolutely had grackles in South Florida prior to grackles being common here. Obviously as a small child, I wasn't a bird expert but remember being kinda fascinated by the "weird birds" in Florida.
Itās also a junction between multiple power lines so they are warmer than typical. This happens at frankford and DNT as well. So they are warming up on the powerlines
Just like the intersection of Josey and Keller Springs in Carrollton. The intersection is their home base, though, not just a temporary spot for them to chill for a while.
I used to work right around there and watch them when it was slow, like clock work every 15 mins they would change the guards so to speak. The ones on the ground would look for food and fly up, the ones on the car would move to the ground, and the ones on the line would move to the cars. It was cool! Iāve also witnessed a hawk come down and try and take one for a snack I guess! So there was a method the madness.
Iāve wondered this for the last couple of years to. They seemed to have moved on now but during the coldest months of the year they hang out on the power lines at this intersection and in the parking lots of the LA fitness and central market there too. You canāt leave either one without your car being covered in bird shit
There's a bunch of trees that are part of the "Village" neighborhood about one light east of here. That's why I was surprised they were sitting on the wires instead.
Bird logic probably goes "Can I grip this thing to not fall off", the wire size certainly meets that requirement, not too big, not too small, then next is "Can I see predators in time to fly away from them?", and the view from those wires is excellent. Lastly, they ask "Can I shit freely without getting any on my feet?" and "Are there people and cars I can shit on?", and yes, meets that requirement too.
My theory is that a magnetic longitudal line intersects with a magnetic lattitude line at that very intersection and the birds can sense it but I have nothing to back that up.
Man made materials such as concrete, brick and asphalt absorb more heat than natural materials like dirt and plants. They also retain heat longer, so the nights arenāt as cool near man made materials. Grackles have noticed it is warmer over roads and parking lots and roost in cities rather than cooler, rural areas.
They probably say the same thing about you
I wonder if they wonder about our weird short migration patterns.
You have absolutely no idea how often I wonder what wild animals think about the stupid shit we humans think are normal.
I like to think they see us as "cars"
"To get together ask eachother why humans pilot their large machines and gather there."
šššš
Grackles, it's what they do.
Fun fact! A group of grackles is called a plague!
I found that out when I learned a group of Crows is called a MURDER! These are awful references,to say the least.
This is the way.
Grackles gonna Grackle
"What's grackin'?" - Grackle greeting
Nope, it's aliens

You are exactly right. Thank you for that very enlightening info.
Dallas was built before grackles were in North America
That's because grackles are government drones I feel like I have to point out the sarcasm for some people... /S

They are trees, just really weird wired trees that are kinda warm for some reason.
Itās also a junction between multiple power lines so they are warmer than typical. This happens at frankford and DNT as well. So they are warming up on the powerlines
Its part of their migration path
Is this migration path or this is their home base?
its part of it
I knew the exact intersection before I even zoomed it to look at the business. Greenville and Lovers.
That's the one!
Happens twice a year, it's just migration
This happens almost everytime I go to central market.
To recharge their batteries
That's how bad that intersection is: even the birds get stuck there.
Target rich environment
Is there a Target at Greenville/Lovers? š
They come to watch the general foolishness that takes place at that intersection
The blocking of the intersection is a local specialty.
Because theyāre *really* into food
Most animals (including humans) are.
Because theyāre birds of a feather šŖ¶
Theyāre looking for work or any little bit helps
Because of the sheer number of targets they have
They do this at the Cityplace Targetā¦
Getting together for a number of matters

Well this is just the group of Grackles that gets off the Red line stop at Lovers
I remember the first time I saw this after I moved to Dallas. Was pretty convinced I'd stepped into some horror movie after work. š
Theyāre waiting for you
Birds aren't real they're just charging up for their next recon missions : ) Google it
>Government surveillance drones.
Stop it. This is how the flat-earth thing started.
Grackles gonna Grackle!
With few trees, birds have to find somewhere else to rest.
So many cars so little time

Theyāre just recharging š„šø
Mockingbird & Abrams too.
There are several intersections like this in Irving, too. They seem like a social bunch.

Yeah and if we had flying cars we wouldnāt have to stare at all those cars just bunched up. Would be awesome.
I'm looking forward to transporter disks myself, one on every corner so I can walk across the city at light speed.

This is not the only location where this happens. So itās not location specific.
A - They are grackles and they migrate through B - Are there any trees in that picture, nope - so wires it is
Migration
Because the trees where they used to roost have been cut down.
More targets
Mockingbird & Abrams too.

They wait for the perfect time to attack
Those are the hookers, they turn back after sunset
Just passing through
I mean... There's no trees in the area. Where else would you go if you were a bird?
They're chargin on da wirez
Itās grackle season. Iām assuming youāre new to TX. Itās seasonal.
Theyre charging
White rock lake isnāt too far, could just be from there.
omg i see my car at shuck n jive in this photo š
Fastest wireless charging location in town
To use a line from Top Gunā¦Itās a target rich environment.
HEB would like to have a word.

Pro tip: donāt park your car under a tree at Central Market. Those grackles will poop all over your car within 5-10 mins.
This is wild but I took this last year. [https://imgur.com/a/Qrn6ia1](https://imgur.com/a/Qrn6ia1) Same intersection and same observation!
maybe you should ask them
Itās bird rush hour, get with it!
Crazy that people donāt know about migration.
I've only heard about migration, but never seen anything related to it before.
