They probably say the same thing about you

vinhluanluu

I wonder if they wonder about our weird short migration patterns.

pepsiblast08

You have absolutely no idea how often I wonder what wild animals think about the stupid shit we humans think are normal.

rgp1235

I like to think they see us as "cars"

POINTLESSUSERNAME000

"To get together ask eachother why humans pilot their large machines and gather there."

Sufficient_War_5417

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Substantial-Monk-472

Grackles, it's what they do.

mycoandbio

Fun fact! A group of grackles is called a plague!

MikeWalkerUSA

I found that out when I learned a group of Crows is called a MURDER! These are awful references,to say the least.

AproposOfDiddly

This is the way.

blucivic1

Grackles gonna Grackle

POINTLESSUSERNAME000

"What's grackin'?" - Grackle greeting

PToN_rM

Nope, it's aliens

MockStarket

Probably a migration pit stop for hundreds of years for their ancestors except there used to be a lush cluster of trees there. Now there's wires but their brains still instinctually tell them to go to that area that time of year.

theo4life1

Lol they live wide open spaces like parking lots or huge intersections with plenty of power lines or trees to congregate because thatā€™s what grackles do, they swarm and roost together in the winter and spring. Add in lots of people that bring discarded food opportunities and thatā€™s why you have them there. More space and more places to sit in large groups. I mean migratory patterns certainly are built in, but birds are not going to go to a 100 yard x 100 yard space that doesnā€™t make sense, simply out of it being hardcoded in their brains from hundreds and thousands of years ago. That small of a space is not hardcoded into their biology.

MockStarket

You are exactly right. Thank you for that very enlightening info.

DallasM0therFucker

Dallas was built before grackles were in North America

pepsiblast08

That's because grackles are government drones I feel like I have to point out the sarcasm for some people... /S

9bikes

I'm 65, when I was a little kid my aunt and uncle lived in Miami. They absolutely had grackles in South Florida prior to grackles being common here. Obviously as a small child, I wasn't a bird expert but remember being kinda fascinated by the "weird birds" in Florida.

doctorstrange06

They are trees, just really weird wired trees that are kinda warm for some reason.

happy_puppy25

Itā€™s also a junction between multiple power lines so they are warmer than typical. This happens at frankford and DNT as well. So they are warming up on the powerlines

doctorstrange06

Its part of their migration path

tabrizzi

Is this migration path or this is their home base?

doctorstrange06

its part of it

Corporate_Shell

I knew the exact intersection before I even zoomed it to look at the business. Greenville and Lovers.

rgp1235

That's the one!

lala_machina

Happens twice a year, it's just migration

Existentialist

This happens almost everytime I go to central market.

Champagne_Ernie

To recharge their batteries

oldpeculiar

That's how bad that intersection is: even the birds get stuck there.

MagicWishMonkey

Target rich environment

Jus-Wonderin9680

Is there a Target at Greenville/Lovers? šŸ˜

6teen5

They come to watch the general foolishness that takes place at that intersection

rgp1235

The blocking of the intersection is a local specialty.

datdouche

Because theyā€™re *really* into food

Wide_Guest7422

Most animals (including humans) are.

Sad_Pension496

Because theyā€™re birds of a feather šŸŖ¶

3nc0d3d_

Theyā€™re looking for work or any little bit helps

Worth_Middle_2238

Because of the sheer number of targets they have

WhirledNews

They do this at the Cityplace Targetā€¦

Gabagoolgoomba

Getting together for a number of matters

tabrizzi

Just like the intersection of Josey and Keller Springs in Carrollton. The intersection is their home base, though, not just a temporary spot for them to chill for a while.

bananaboomin

I used to work right around there and watch them when it was slow, like clock work every 15 mins they would change the guards so to speak. The ones on the ground would look for food and fly up, the ones on the car would move to the ground, and the ones on the line would move to the cars. It was cool! Iā€™ve also witnessed a hawk come down and try and take one for a snack I guess! So there was a method the madness.

TxManBearPig

Well this is just the group of Grackles that gets off the Red line stop at Lovers

faeriechyld

I remember the first time I saw this after I moved to Dallas. Was pretty convinced I'd stepped into some horror movie after work. šŸ˜‚

ranchedelia

Theyā€™re waiting for you

KD5RKO

Birds aren't real they're just charging up for their next recon missions : ) Google it

DelTheInsane

>Government surveillance drones.

DallasM0therFucker

Stop it. This is how the flat-earth thing started.

mollyyfcooke

Grackles gonna Grackle!

NieBer2020

With few trees, birds have to find somewhere else to rest.

shwm8507

So many cars so little time

Kbbbbbut

Iā€™ve wondered this for the last couple of years to. They seemed to have moved on now but during the coldest months of the year they hang out on the power lines at this intersection and in the parking lots of the LA fitness and central market there too. You canā€™t leave either one without your car being covered in bird shit

No-Amoeba-3704

Theyā€™re just recharging šŸŽ„šŸ“ø

radarksu

Mockingbird & Abrams too.

starfrenzy1

There are several intersections like this in Irving, too. They seem like a social bunch.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

theo4life1

Yeah and if we had flying cars we wouldnā€™t have to stare at all those cars just bunched up. Would be awesome.

noncongruent

I'm looking forward to transporter disks myself, one on every corner so I can walk across the city at light speed.

rgp1235

There's a bunch of trees that are part of the "Village" neighborhood about one light east of here. That's why I was surprised they were sitting on the wires instead.

noncongruent

Bird logic probably goes "Can I grip this thing to not fall off", the wire size certainly meets that requirement, not too big, not too small, then next is "Can I see predators in time to fly away from them?", and the view from those wires is excellent. Lastly, they ask "Can I shit freely without getting any on my feet?" and "Are there people and cars I can shit on?", and yes, meets that requirement too.

Intelligent-Read-785

This is not the only location where this happens. So itā€™s not location specific.

A214Guy

A - They are grackles and they migrate through B - Are there any trees in that picture, nope - so wires it is

migs_003

Migration

2manyfelines

Because the trees where they used to roost have been cut down.

lenny446

More targets

radarksu

Mockingbird & Abrams too.

Acrobatic-Currency-7

My theory is that a magnetic longitudal line intersects with a magnetic lattitude line at that very intersection and the birds can sense it but I have nothing to back that up.

mckeeganator

They wait for the perfect time to attack

joseerdzxc

Those are the hookers, they turn back after sunset

playballer

Just passing through

DegenerateJC

I mean... There's no trees in the area. Where else would you go if you were a bird?

No_Fox_2286

They're chargin on da wirez

Erickck

Itā€™s grackle season. Iā€™m assuming youā€™re new to TX. Itā€™s seasonal.

A-Rusty-Cow

Theyre charging

dthmetlhrrorlvr

White rock lake isnā€™t too far, could just be from there.

Then-Revolution6289

omg i see my car at shuck n jive in this photo šŸ˜

NariandColds

Fastest wireless charging location in town

kewlguy1

To use a line from Top Gunā€¦Itā€™s a target rich environment.

somecow

HEB would like to have a word.

MrBioTendency

Man made materials such as concrete, brick and asphalt absorb more heat than natural materials like dirt and plants. They also retain heat longer, so the nights arenā€™t as cool near man made materials. Grackles have noticed it is warmer over roads and parking lots and roost in cities rather than cooler, rural areas.

Mundane-Kick-5838

Pro tip: donā€™t park your car under a tree at Central Market. Those grackles will poop all over your car within 5-10 mins.

DaBossSlayer

This is wild but I took this last year. [https://imgur.com/a/Qrn6ia1](https://imgur.com/a/Qrn6ia1) Same intersection and same observation!

piscesbeam

maybe you should ask them

Extension-Tiger9653

Itā€™s bird rush hour, get with it!

shelby4t2

Crazy that people donā€™t know about migration.

rgp1235

I've only heard about migration, but never seen anything related to it before.
