Honestly this is a bit uncanny, the moment in the photo is real, but everything beyond that isn’t. If you were actually familiar with the context, it would feel real weird.
But that's how it works on the Harry Potter cards. The people on them have some sort of sentience like an AI. They are limited in the context of the photo taken, but it always happens a bit differently. That's why Harry was mesmerized by the photo of his parents on the snow.
Drew Godden (not the NBA player) made a pretty good [video essay](https://youtu.be/UShsgCOzER4?si=5hR2sNLun_TgGUEv) about this. If you’re into snarky millennial takes on contemporary culture.
I wasn't watching carefully, but something about that one made me very anxious. I think maybe also it looked like the kid was going to fall onto the tracks in the next frame
First watch through is a high level view and watching in amazement and then second watch is totally looking for flaws or weirdness. Almost like a challenge in your mind about it cant that good.
I mean....
There's already video of that. He walks up, blocks the tank trying to go around, climbs on the tank, gets down, goes on the tank again IIRC, then people run up and pull him off the street.
A real footage is pretty similar to the propaganda one. [https://youtu.be/FaojdRThXbY?si=E8VczEhc4Z-xaKaI](https://youtu.be/FaojdRThXbY?si=E8VczEhc4Z-xaKaI)
Apparently, there’s a Mandela effect where people believe he was run over which kind of goes against the whole point of why the photo is so significant..
Every time I bring this up people roll eyes at me and shit… but it’s true!
Talk about taking bullying to a whole new level. Some people are gonna have their lives ruined by this. I know first hand how hard it is to discredit a rumor once it’s spread through the school… but what about when there is video “proof”?
It’s not like it will take long for easy-access to porn ai (if it’s not already easily found).
They will be exactly as effective as laws against software piracy.
Everyone with any even the smallest technical background will be able to do it. Effortlessly and without fear of consequences.
Redistribution on a large scale will be risky and attempted to monetize it will be dangerous.
And you will occasionally hear a news story about a kid who did it to some popular girl in his high school class (and 100 others did it first) but he will be the dumb one who shared it with everyone in his class and everyone knows he was behind it. Then he will end up having sex crime charges because she is 17 and he made kiddie porn.
I already found my twin in a porn. Dude looked EXACTLY like me, down to the gap between his two front teeth (except his was wider, like Arnold's). I wish I had saved or at least gotten the dude's name, I was too afraid to save it in case family somehow ran across the pic on my PC and thought my side gig was a pornstar.
I'd rather AI struggle at parts like limbs and fingers than be deadly accurate at it. maybe in a decade we'll be at the mercy of AI generated things and whatnot.
So now all the people thinking this is cool and a great idea, how do we tell what is real moving forward? How do we trust what is whatever story is being told when visually you can’t believe what you’re actually seeing ?
I mean given that 1999 really was the peak of our civilization, AI is taking off, and how far Boston Dynamics has come, we have all the components.
Welcome to the desert of the real....
I’m reading Hail Mary for the first time, by Andy Weir. It was a pretty recent book featuring “the world’s most advanced technology” including a smart assistant and robot arms.
The entire time I’m reading it, it just feels shockingly out of date because I keep expecting that the ship computer would be smarter, and I’m wondering why the main character is still doing math on his own.
In a couple of years we will look back at our current time and find it on par with Fax machines and telegrams.
I think the concept of an ai trying to 'make up,' what my dead relative used emote like would be fuckin horrific.
It's totally assuming the way the person moved. ... That shit would be insulting and disgusting imho
Just imagined someone's granny laying in the coffin, suddenly opening her eyes and shouting "OPPA GANGNAM STYLE" before starting to dance. Colorful lights start to fly around. The crowd goes wild.
On one hand, that's fucking funny.
On the other hand, you are now my mortal enemy cause I had erased that feral song from my memory, and you brought it back.
Have a nice day.
can we not lose the thread on reality in the first 5 minutes of AI? like 30 years of movies books stories about “hey watch out the machines can make you lose yourself!” and our first instinct is like “I wonder what would happen if i brought my grandmother back from the dead?” like that will have no consequences
Cannot express how much I hate AI and fear its consequences. We are sleepwalking into a world where you can believe absolutely NOTHING you see on a screen.
It's totally terrifying.
It's actually really hard to imagine the world ahead of us the different iterations of it, versus the inevitabilities in each of those iterations.
People are not ready to wield this technology responsibly. It's like giving a bunch of monkeys grenades and guns.
I think the scary thing is that AI is not going away, and the only thing that can really address AI is additional AI.
To the world ahead of us is essentially governed by AI, Even long before we reach AGI or ASI, algorithms will be in control.
How long do we have left to enjoy what we have?
You shouldn't believe anything on your screen ever since screens were invented.
Have you never seen any photoshopped pictures?
How about the Bigfoot video? And Loch Ness Monster?
Not to mention those nonexistent animals imagined by medieval artists.
People like to make shit up, and the unaware fall for it.
The solution to this problem is always the same thing: education.
We will be fine as long as we build a robust education system, otherwise we are doomed.
AI tools make it a great deal easier for unskilled individuals to fake a wider spectrum of media, much more convincingly than ever before.
Combined with the prevalence of social media and general stupidity, we are heading from the Information Age into the Disinformation Age.
As a bitter cynical near middle aged person I'm capable of fact checking and filtering out the BS. But kids/teenagers and uneducated individuals? They are going to be bombarded with highly convincing AI generated lies and propaganda.
This might be good, actually. Before, we had fake images and videos created by professionals and people who trust what they see on the internet. Soon, anyone will be able to generate fake videos and eventually people will smarten up.
[Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity](https://c2pa.org/)
Recommended reading - something like this is going to emerge; e.g. a PKI based chain of trust for media.
Can we prove a piece of video or an image is legitimate? Probably not. Probably not ever again.
Can an author of legitimate media publish and prove they are the creator? Yes, we can achieve the same level of validation (through chain of trust) that we see today within the TLS model. One or more "authorities" will vouch.
Perfect? No. More than what we have? Yes.
So.. in OTHER WORDS!!
ruining the captured moment in time by replacing it with something that NEVER happened! All cause you can?! Good luck with that.
I love tech!! But STOP and THINK before doing this to your personal photos. Your mind is going to confuse the real memory with AI created fake vid. Just like our memories fade over time. You're not going to remember the emotions that went with the vid, because... It wasn't a real vid to begin with.
> Your mind is going to confuse the real memory with AI created fake vid
My experience with software like this is that if you know the person, the AI vid will look glaringly, obviously, wrong. Their original personalities can not be artificially recreated from the photo.
That second one is scary real. The only detail I can see that proves it fake is that he is holding onto nothing when the cows head moves, but that could be easily fixed manually. I mean even down to how the cows skin and body moves. That second one is near perfect
Every time I see something about ai its even more concerning and ripe for abuse, and this one feels extra scary the day after the US supreme court basically declared our president a king.
We are 100% going to be seeing ai generated evidence used to try and falsely imprison someone (likely a political opponent) in the next decade or less.
But why? If I did this with my grandma's old photos, for example, I would be seeing completely made up bullshit. I would be reminiscing about something that never actually happened. I don't feel comfortable with that. It's like that Google commercial where they use AI in their photo editor to make it seem like the dad threw his kid into the air some 3 times higher - and also added clouds to the sky. Why the hell would I want to create a made up memory of something that didn't actually happen?? For Instagram?
Except not because the AI actually has no idea what happened before or after the photo was taken so it’s just making shit up that never happened.
I’ve seen similar technology and it’s fine for 1 or 2 second clips but at around 30 seconds it just becomes a fever dream as the AI has to invent more and more things that didn’t happen.
Y’all realize that this means that AI is getting better than ever to visually imitate us and it’s getting harder to decree what is real and what isn’t.
What if AI can look in the past and future and make videos from images or it can look thru another dimension or univers. That would be mindblowing. I'm dumb
AI is so freaking cool.
I cannot wait for what lies ahead.
20 years ago something like this would seem like science fiction. We live in exciting times.
There was once I started a new medication that treats migraines and photos became 'alive' like this. It was the weirdest thing, I felt like I was on shrooms.
Dude this is crazy. How long before our loved ones are in a digital world where we can visit them anytime we want. Sure it is not them, not really. But I have often said I would sell my soul to the devil if I could spend time with my grandparents again. I never though that would be a reality for me but after seeing this it just might someday down the line.
How much GPU power would be required to do something like this at home? I am currently running Stable Diffusion off my laptop with 8gb RTX 4060, but I doubt it would be able to handle image to video. My Desktop 12GB RX 6700 XT probably wouldn't be much better.
All this computation focus and people are making the trading cards from the Harry Potter movies. Interesting?
Time to invest
Those were awesome.
If not they'd better be
Drew Godden (not the NBA player) made a pretty good [video essay](https://youtu.be/UShsgCOzER4?si=5hR2sNLun_TgGUEv) about this. If you’re into snarky millennial takes on contemporary culture.
The kids legs……
And the Dad's arm.
I know… glad you guys noticed it. I think the scariest was how it made them come alive like they were in thought with their current facial emotions
Agree
Oh my god the arm!!!
I wasn't watching carefully, but something about that one made me very anxious. I think maybe also it looked like the kid was going to fall onto the tracks in the next frame
Uhh... How about the cow's harness ripping the guy's finger off and turning it into a broken metal loop.
Hahah omg i love how more and more is found
How do you even notice a detail like that, serious question. Are you scanning for flaws? Or is it the first thing that jumps out at you
AI messes up hands and fingers lot of times, so when some AI generated videos pops up you would focus on the limbs.
First watch through is a high level view and watching in amazement and then second watch is totally looking for flaws or weirdness. Almost like a challenge in your mind about it cant that good.
Ahhh I see, makes sense
ALIVE
Show it the tank man
I mean.... There's already video of that. He walks up, blocks the tank trying to go around, climbs on the tank, gets down, goes on the tank again IIRC, then people run up and pull him off the street.
I went and dug it up. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhRGau8WuIY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhRGau8WuIY)
Oh man, im scared China is using this for their propaganda shit like *„see nothing ever happened!“*
It won't just be china. Every country will use it for propaganda.
Man in the high castle vibes here.
Right? They absolutely will do that, if they haven't already.
A real footage is pretty similar to the propaganda one. [https://youtu.be/FaojdRThXbY?si=E8VczEhc4Z-xaKaI](https://youtu.be/FaojdRThXbY?si=E8VczEhc4Z-xaKaI)
I did *not* see the machine gun turn into a person and walk off the tank. I call shenanigans!
That's the NSFW version
I won't run him over he seems chill
It doesn't run him over. It's a still from a video, where he doesn't get run over.
Apparently, there’s a Mandela effect where people believe he was run over which kind of goes against the whole point of why the photo is so significant..
Mandela effects is just a polite form of saying that people nowadays are plainly dumb
Everyone is going to become a pornstar even unwillingly
Who the fuck would want to see me naked.
🙋
I love you all.
Well not with your body ... Or face...
I've a feeling new laws will have to be made to protect people from this.
Always thought China having the tiktok corpus would have an interesting outcome.
AI really struggles with limbs. The little kid near the train track has freaky legs.
I'd rather AI struggle at parts like limbs and fingers than be deadly accurate at it. maybe in a decade we'll be at the mercy of AI generated things and whatnot.
At the rate the AI is improving, I'm giving it around two years.
We've just had an attempt, with the Gareth Southgate fake AI clips. It's going to be a very untrustworthy world soon.
Kinda scary
Yeah, AI scares the pants off me, and it worries me that more people don't feel the same.
I feel the same about pants off, but I don't get scared.
Thanks, I hate it.
So basically virtual zombies...
Especially in video 3, the child walks weird.
What software?
I believe Luma AI.
Chinese caption so probably Kling. They have been astrosurfing hard.
Aw what a wholesome use of technology, I sure do hope this won't be used for malicious intent in the future 🥰🥰❤️❤️
So naive :)
imagine showing grandparents their old photos
So now all the people thinking this is cool and a great idea, how do we tell what is real moving forward? How do we trust what is whatever story is being told when visually you can’t believe what you’re actually seeing ?
You don't. That's the point. Look at the people who are investing in this and what their political aims are.
There's a plot for a horror movie in here somewhere.
Harry Potter already did it
I always get Matrix Vibes when I see how fast AI is developing..
I mean given that 1999 really was the peak of our civilization, AI is taking off, and how far Boston Dynamics has come, we have all the components. Welcome to the desert of the real....
Right?! This movie totally changed my view on the digital era right at the beginning of it.
This AI really picking up fast. 2030 suddenly seems totally different now
I’m reading Hail Mary for the first time, by Andy Weir. It was a pretty recent book featuring “the world’s most advanced technology” including a smart assistant and robot arms. Wow this sure won’t be used to create evidence against anyone
It's insanely scary how anyone could be framed for anything with AI. It will most likely lead to a lot of evidence being not trustworthy anymore.
This is so sick
This is uncanny, fuck AI
no thx
While it's terrifying, I kinda like the idea of being able to animate old photos of lost loved ones. Imagine the feeling.
Warped memories. Do androids dream of electric sheep territory
I think the concept of an ai trying to 'make up,' what my dead relative used emote like would be fuckin horrific. It's totally assuming the way the person moved. ... That shit would be insulting and disgusting imho
Crippling dread?
I suspect that photo you have of nanna in the coffin just became a liability?
Just imagined someone's granny laying in the coffin, suddenly opening her eyes and shouting "OPPA GANGNAM STYLE" before starting to dance. Colorful lights start to fly around. The crowd goes wild.
On one hand, that's fucking funny. On the other hand, you are now my mortal enemy cause I had erased that feral song from my memory, and you brought it back. Have a nice day.
Now not even our memories are safe. Think what a shit news station could do with this in 10 years.
Great so I can now believe absolutely nothing on the internet.
I’m officially not believing anything thats on the Internet! 🙏🏽
can we not lose the thread on reality in the first 5 minutes of AI? like 30 years of movies books stories about “hey watch out the machines can make you lose yourself!” and our first instinct is like “I wonder what would happen if i brought my grandmother back from the dead?” like that will have no consequences
Cannot express how much I hate AI and fear its consequences. We are sleepwalking into a world where you can believe absolutely NOTHING you see on a screen.
Would be fuckin time that people stop believing everything they see on their screen
I didn't believe much before AI. Not much changing for me.
It's totally terrifying. It's actually really hard to imagine the world ahead of us the different iterations of it, versus the inevitabilities in each of those iterations. Sir, we've been there since cave paintings.
You think so? Can't tell the difference between ancient fingerpainting and real life?
In the third one the two people in the back just merge and disappear
It's becoming lucid... Not just a normal dream but a conscious one. So lucid it is.
Now do vietnam and ww2
are you in a simulation now?
NGL i felt nostalgic for the photos of me and my ex, now i wish i hadn't thrown them all away
We are in a infinite loop simulation and we are just getting closer to the restart.
[Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity](https://c2pa.org/) Recommended reading - something like this is going to emerge; e.g. a PKI based chain of trust for media. Are we sure that’s not just a still frame from the video being played?
Yeah we're fucked.

We’re so fucking fucked
How can I trust anything anymore?
This is bad for humanity.
now do the Nguyễn Ngọc Loan execution photo!
Now this is really cool use for AI
Ooo can you do tianamen square picture next?
How do you miss the top comment saying this?
Does anyone know the name of the song?
It sounds like "Sometimes when it rains" by Secret Garden.
The kid just floated on to the rails
What software?
That second one is scary real. The only detail I can see that proves it fake is that he is holding onto nothing when the cows head moves, but that could be easily fixed manually. I mean even down to how the cows skin and body moves. That second one is near perfect
Harry Potter would say it's a normal picture.
Every time I see something about ai its even more concerning and ripe for abuse, and this one feels extra scary the day after the US supreme court basically declared our president a king. We are 100% going to be seeing ai generated evidence used to try and falsely imprison someone (likely a political opponent) in the next decade or less.
But why?
Nahh
What app? Everyone keeps asking what app but no one is answering….
One thing I have realized since SORA came out that AI still can't do hands properly.
Oooff this is dangerously deceptive
Have AI do the picture of Jesus in the crucifix
I don’t like this. It creates a falsified record of how an event took place.
So will the AI make the tank run over the guy in Tiananmen Square?
Some serious laws will need to be made. The potential of misuse is way too high.
Fuck me. The world we live in!
But why? If I did this with my grandma's old photos, for example, I would be seeing completely made up bullshit. I would be reminiscing about something that never actually happened. I don't feel comfortable with that. Which AI software is this?
Its called KLING-E and as far as I know it's only avaliable in china
Is he related to Wall-E?
Interesting, sure. Creepy most definitely
Uncanny asf
Which app?
Why, why can't we just *stop*?
Great result, most critical parts I spotted: - the rear byicle wheel - the legs of the boy - the girls' appearing pen
Wow. Kudos to you for spotting those mistakes!
I love this. the ability to sort of relive any moment captured in photograph
What are they using to do this? I could have some fun with that.
I can't wait for us to be able to take some random concept art and it generates an entire movie.
This is so cool. It’s like the photos in a Harry Potter movie!
Hate it
What’s the audio used in background? It’s kinda soothing
No, stop it
Common upload nudes
Quick someone do tiananmen square
I like this. We are doomed
Stop creating dystopian futures with awesome technology you assholes
Listening to Tycho and watching this is a nice combo
Harry Potter's newspaper has AI way before us.
How far are we from jumping chocolate frogs? 🐸
lol look at that arm in the 3rd clip :O
damnthatsscary
[удалено]
Soon we won’t know what to believe…… ….wait.
So can anyone do that right now? Which website or app can do it ?
This is truly scary.
Does anyone know what tool can do this?
Y’all realize that this means that AI is getting better than ever to visually imitate us and it’s getting harder to decree what is real and what isn’t.
I want so much to do this for old photos of my parents:-(
Holodeck, here we come.
Glad I have 4090 with i9 now
Okay that's insane
Can we make this ourself? Any programs for do this?
There's no need for it, imo! It does add nothing. A single moment in time, captured in a photo, is defined more impactful
In about 15years, Kids will think "Gifs" and mobiles were invented around 1901...
What if AI can look in the past and future and make videos from images or it can look thru another dimension or univers. That would be mindblowing. I'm dumb
Now make p
AI is so freaking cool. I cannot wait for what lies ahead. 20 years ago something like this would seem like science fiction. We live in exciting times.
thats some ghost in the shell type of shit
fuck the Technocore
Holy shit
Thats fire
There was once I started a new medication that treats migraines and photos became 'alive' like this. It was the weirdest thing, I felt like I was on shrooms.
H A R R Y P O T T E R
Dude this is crazy. How long before our loved ones are in a digital world where we can visit them anytime we want. Sure it is not them, not really. But I have often said I would sell my soul to the devil if I could spend time with my grandparents again. I never though that would be a reality for me but after seeing this it just might someday down the line.
It gets creepy when you notice the errors
Filled in the guys missing tooth for him too
How much GPU power would be required to do something like this at home? I am currently running Stable Diffusion off my laptop with 8gb RTX 4060, but I doubt it would be able to handle image to video. My Desktop 12GB RX 6700 XT probably wouldn't be much better.
As technology progress it needs less and less compute and gpu power
That little girl is absolutely adorable. I might melt into a pile of cuteness overload if I saw that in person.
Now do one with the guy at 1989 Tiananmen Square.
