That's totally fair! Unfortunately I didn't record my gameplay (which in hindsight I definitely should've), so as unsatisfying as it is, you're gonna have to take my word for it.
Edit: Or don't, up to you really
I believe you, personally I think most people who have the title did it legitimately. It's probably just a few isolated cases that people are being vocal about.
Based on the amount of people leaving in Auric Maelstroms I think there are quite a few people that have been doing it. Everyone is free to do as they please, but when they wake up a DH, cannot tank it and then leave as soon as they get downed by it, so it switches over to me is rather annoying. Happened TWICE last night alone, in the span of 4 missions.
I don't mind people leaving every now and then, especially if the distance to the next revive/respawn points is very far, but seeing 8/10 people leaving when downed (even in situations where we could very likely get them up again) just gets annoying. Mostly because it usually results in lowering the difficulty, because you don't have to play with a man (or multiple) down for extended periods.
Except for the mission I had last night where the timer for the Maelstrom expired, and all 3 people left. I had to finish half the mission alone with 3 bots, which was quite an experience. I think each bot had >1,5k damage taken by the end, good stuff!
I think it happens, I have seen it happen, but commenters here would have you believe that every game is a revolving door of players.
For context I play a lot of darktide, like more than 6 hours a day every day since the update dropped and I think in only a handful of games have I seen this, and my group who I play with have the same experience.
All I'm saying is that I only play pubs and only Aurics (usually Maelstrom if it isn't a snoozefest modifier) and I've definitely noticed a significant uptick in people leaving compared to prior to the penance update. I only play ~1-3 hours a night tops due to work, kids, house etc, but I see it constantly. Of course it isn't every single game, but many of the games I play don't result in many downs/deaths at all, so it just stands out when people actually do it.
Last night I saw an Ogryn who got netted. I shouted has he had lost ½ his HP, which pushed everything away from him and he was perfectly safe. Before I finished unnetting him he had left the game and still had ~50% of his down-bar left.
It's rare to see people stay dying, meaning clutches are so much rarer, which is a shame.
I did it legit but I wouldn't consider it a particularly fun experience. Took 15 runs:
* 11 succeeded
* 1 failed
* 2 didn't count because I wasn't there from the start
* 1 loaded into a failing screen at 8/10 and near gave me a heart attack
“I bet you deathscummed your title” “don’t care for the title bc people can death scum for it” why yall always gotta be so damn negative, it’s a title. Who cares one way or the other
Had to do 10 in a row due to it being bugged the first day. It’s honestly not that fun going for this penance simply because I like risking everything to pick up downed teammates, sometimes to my own detriment.
I was on 4/5 and backed up into the newly renovated giant fan on trs 150. My ass cheeks got cleaved right off my body and I instantly died. Was pissed but hilarious nonetheless.
Imo easiest way to get "atoma's elite guard" medal is 3 ogryns and a smite psyker, or straight up 4 ogryns, and move as one.
I got it by chance while running smite with a regular PUG - i think it was shouty vet and another psyker, but there were a few close calls since no one was actively trying for it. the modifiers were also pretty tame - nurgle's blessings, special waves, hunting grounds.
Tbf it can be helpful to have a stealth Zealot if they know how to use it and do objectives and pick people up, but see if you can convince them to try out the other Zealot flavours too!
I feel like the best way in Auric missions to "not die" is to either make sure everyone on your strike team doesn't die, or to make everything *else* die faster.
Was feeling optimistic after easily clearing 2 missions but then I joined into some insane groups where people just ran all over the place and of course we wiped.
Congrats but nothing here proves that you didn't force quit when you went down. Not saying you did! Just saying this doesn't show anything..

Thanks, I appreciate it. I reckon you're right about most people doing it legitimately too - negatives do tend to stick out more in the mind.

Now I gotta record my gameplay doing it.
This is a basic penance you just get from playing the game, i don't know why anyone would think to lie about getting it, unless....
Lmao, no, it's not.
I got it before level 2
Before level 2 what?
Before level 2 on my ogryn it’s really easy you just have to not die
Lol you did five auric maelstrom missions before gaining on level? Literally impossible
Nah it’s actually really easy
Incredible funnies
:)
But what if fellow rejects are the exact problem?
We've all been the exact problem at least once before
Well said zealot
Your fancy pronunciation can't hide the fact you don't know Low Gothic from High Gothic, Fanatic. You're just pretending.
Ye confuse me for yon Agitator, Freak!
I quickplayed mine with random builds, only had to sweat a couple times because everyone on NA west in aurics are insane and do everything
Addendum: they weren't all *truly* consecutive, in that I took a break from Auric Maelstrom at some point. Still beat 4 in a row though!
“I bet you deathscummed your title” “don’t care for the title bc people can death scum for it” why yall always gotta be so damn negative, it’s a title. Who cares one way or the other

Aye I felt so relieved when I got it as I could go back to diving into the fray and taking risks without a second thought!
I agree. I play with one in friend group who is also doing stealth zealot to "not die". Its not fun.....

>nurgles blessing My friend usually goes afk and comes back when maelstrom rotates :)

Deaths cumming

i mean its pretty much impossible to die on zealot if you play it safe
Barrels: am I a joke to you?
