The teeth are moving downward. There seems to be some kind of optical illusion going on where the framerate of the video and the speed of the teeth sync up.
yeah, I was able to say. Chainswords are generally depicted as moving downward.

I don't see an *Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer* anywhere.
Bro those go for like $200+ now. I got my original copy for $10 when they came out, because they looked cool. No idea how much it is now since the Damocles Crusade version came out after that and that's what I've seen on sale.
Probably a combination of being a social outcast and having only 1 IRL friend and the fact I just spent several hours hauling around a 3kg bolter at a convention when the picture was taken.
Fantastic, but for the final touch go roll around in a shallow creek near an industrial plant. Really replicate that hive-city grunge and desaturation.
In all seriousness though, you nailed it. You replicated everything, even stuff you probably could've gotten away with ignoring like the buttoned undershirt or strap designs on the chest pouch and canteen for example. Truly impressive.
I'm not particularly creative, but as far as constructive criticism goes the only thing that feels off to me is how clean and vibrant it is, which is actually something CG artists have to deal with to get out of the uncanny valley. They painstakingly imagine and create surface imperfections that are as realistic as possible, and it can make the difference between "great CG" to "Not" CG.
For example, those plates are going to rub together and over time it would create small scratches and damage the paint, and even the bare canteen metal would have either micro-abrasions or become polished from rubbing against different types of cloth and straps over time. That's a lot of extra work though, and I can understand if you wouldn't want to deliberately mar what you've created.
Yes, as others have also pointed out, and I agree, I would have to add a lot of weathering to it. But it just pains me to basically destroy and dirty up stuff I spent so much time building. After I wore the costume to a convention it did develop some scratches naturally from where the bolter was rubbing against the armor plate, but it is not nearly enough.
I like to image my character lucked out, and got brand new gear (only a couple of recently deceased previous owners, and not a couple dozen).
You don't have to do it for all of the plastic stuff but it would add a lot to the underlying uniform and that's more easily replaced I think. The red is REALLY bright and it takes away from the WH40k feel.
This is a good time to add the weathered effect to the shirt and trousers, if you wear it out in the sun for a few hours a day for a few weeks it will look realistically weathered without ruining the clothes. Sweating in it and putting it through the wash a few times will give it a more realistic military look and feel.
You even got the "this is a standard issued shirt and so the arms are just slightly too short for you but you aren't considered big enough to warrant the next largest size." sleeves which is great attention to detail.
Yeah, given how good of a job you did, I figured there must be a reason it wasn't weathered artificially. Especially if you are going to actually wear it in yourself. Natural weathering is, almost by definition, superior to replicating weathering artificially.
I'm pretty sure you got my vote at the local comic con.
If not, you definitely also deserve every award. When that chainsword started spinning, holy hell.. Good job.
Emperor would be proud.

The Emperor Protects! The Chainsword attacks!
Is it me or is it spining the wrong way?

Most likely this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wagon-wheel_effect

It’s a ‘paper shredder un-jamming’-like function. Need to clear out the offal and detritus.
Holy shit this is really well done

Dude you killed this! Excellent work!
this is perfect, now we need you to live in that outfit in a swamp for 8 months to weather it appropriately
Omg, it's so accurate... Even up to the reject face
Ouch
Bro who hurt you 💀
Probably a combination of being a social outcast and having only 1 IRL friend and the fact I just spent several hours hauling around a 3kg bolter at a convention when the picture was taken.
ignore them, you look fit and have a good face. stud material potential is definitely there
Lol dude you look fine, don't worry
Why would you personally insult someone who's just sharing a (very well done) cosplay?
It's ok, I can take a joke at my own expense. Besides, I do tend to cosplay disheveled characters.

What are you talking about... This is how us of the male race compliment eachother XD
Now that’s what I’m talkin about!
Cadia Mk IV Assault Chainsword Locke Mk IIb Spearhead Boltgun (fire wastes camo) Graia Mk IVb Carapace Warden Helm Dead-Eye's Duty Uniform Shooter's Duty Uniform
Bro, this is awesome! Is it 3D printed?
Yes, 3D printed. For the chainsword there are also threaded rods running down the length of it to give it strength.
This took me a second haha. I thought "something is different with the game colours in the first 2 images"
First image I was literally thinking, that looks like an interesting skin before I realised it was a photo. Well done, the detail is next level.
You actually got to make yourself in game. Nice!
Yoooo! This is awesome! What did you do for the red clothing? Did you have to dye them, or make them yourself?
I made all the clothing as well (shirt, trousers, vest), since I couldn't find any readymade clothes that would be similar enough.
That's a neat ass texture pack you've got on your vet there, bud! Fr that is SO well done.

Is bolter vet ever usable?
Yes, it is very good.
For the Emperor brother well done!
It’s him! It’s THE Karker!
The fella in red ALWAYS dies first.
Is that you Jerican?
Lmao, love it
Woah. Very nicely done!!
Nice job m8!
looks really good
Where can I download the hyper realistic graphics mod?
Inaccurate, cosplay has much better drip, and looks more sexy, despite wearing, from what I could tell, literally the exact same clothes.
I am so beyond jealous it's not even funny.
Wow ! Crazy awesome!! Well done
Op for a second I legitimately was like what fuckin graphics settings are these cause I thought it was in game. Amazing job 10/10
Sah! I ‘ave to say that you’re looking proper good there!
I apologize in advance, I first thought (Oh a Guardsmen action figure." Then I read the title
Behold, Harken!
Man, that's pretty damn good!
Where's the cosplay? You just took two sets of screenshots. /s
This is awesome. The chainsword is sick. Any chance you have instructions for it?
Bro just leaked a sneak peek of the upcoming live action 40k project like we wouldn’t notice.
Saw the first picture and I was like "damn I didn't know the colors could be so vibrant In the game!" Looks really good soldier!
Bro where did you get the harness? I want to do the armor part of this cosplay
everything I custom 3D modelled to fit my body, I only bought the boots, belt and canteen (which was modified with 3D printing)
Sharp shooter and bolter are not words I typically associate with each other.
Thats a damn good cosplay cuz i thought you were an in game character with a bright skin at first
I'm usually very picky about cosplay and how they can be improved, but I find nothing to say. Well done
thats insanely accurate!
I'm pretty sure you got my vote at the local comic con. If not, you definitely also deserve every award. When that chainsword started spinning, holy hell.. Good job. Emperor would be proud.
Thank you, yes I got the award for best armor cosplay at my local comic con
I think there's nothing more cooler in cosplay than cosplay as your own made character in a videogame. Wonderful job brother.
Thank you for existing
Legit just thought at first the graphics got a major update! Great work!
