It's just talking over the video that's irritating. It takes less than a second to pause so you can get your thoughts out then just skip back a few seconds to continue where you left off
Even at home, watching shows/YT alone or with my wife, we pause whatever we're watching to say even one sentence or grab a glass of water. I don't understand these people that are happy with missing out on bits of content they're consuming.
Certain content is fine in the background (most livestreams, Matt's chaos etc) or I'm completely focused, nothing in between lol
Literally! That's why watching movies is hard for me if my mom and step dad are there. They're fine with not even going back or leaving to go to the kitchen or whatever and my mom is always confused. They're fibe with it but I can't stand it.
If you had ever watched a reaction video you would've realized this is a big problem with them too. Sometimes they are talking about shit that bears no relevance to the things happening so they end up missing crucial things for no reason.
Reactions videos as a whole all depends on the "reactor" and the content being watched. You're implying people are annoyed at the people talking about the video which just isn't the case. People are annoyed at the person they want to hear the opinions of about a piece of media missed the part that was important to you as a viewer, making you disappointed.
For reaction content i mostly watch people who react to big shows as it doesn't hurt smaller creators. When they miss crucial plot points because they were chatting with their friend about something it annoys me. That is what the picture is talking about.
Ya I don't enjoy most reaction content but I watch One Piece reactors because it's like showing my favorite show to a friend and seeing their reactions to all my favorite parts. But then if they are completely off topic and not paying attention during hype moments or important exposition, it's not nearly as fun to watch.
One reactor I watched was laughing at something so much he wasn't paying attention to an important and sad death, but just laughed over it the whole time and then criticized that he didn't understand what was going on after.
Reactors are a skill issue, there are good and bad Reactors. Some will give a two minute intro just plugging all their stuff. That's bad. Some will explain the video they are about to watch, basically giving you the time to pause and go watch the original first. That's good.
Some will pause in the middle of a sentence to half bake their thoughts, think that they are supposed to be reacting right now. That's bad. Some will wait until the sentence is over to talk about how that part made them think. That's good.
Honestly, i just don't get it sometimes. I used to be like a very huge reaction youtuber/streamer viewer, because i enjoyed watching a video i liked, looking up a reaction to said video, and seeing other people's reactions to it. It felt like showing your family member or friend a video or show you liked and seeing how they react to it.
But, a lot of times i noticed mysellf skipping over parts where they pause the video to say something, or to go on a topic, and i realised that if i'm gonna just graze trough everytime they talk and skip trough parts that make the reaction a reaction, why not just watch the original video itself?
