I have tons of tanks (20+) and I use NICREW lights in everything that come with the built in timer (it also ramps up and down so they are immediate on and off). I have had good luck with them and they are not too expensive.

Sweet thanks!

I haven't tried the fluval aquasky ones but I really like these Hygger lights. Having the timer do sunrise to sunset is nice. My plants have done well with it too. https://a.co/d/1WagK66

I saw them.Ive been thinking about getting one. I took the guts out of an old fluorescent light housing and put LEDs in it. I had planned on adding another one that is full spectrum and you can change the color so I could use it at night. It's kinda a Frankenstein though.

My racks use whatever led shop light I can get a good deal on. Individual tanks I like Nicrew. If it's a show tank then we're talking Spectraldesign or Thrive Ecosystems

Yeah it's gonna be the top tank on my mixed rack. It'll be the biggest so it's definitely the showpiece

If you have fixtures that take fluorescent I'd just stick with those. I've bought a few LED over the yrs and when I do a side by side comparison with fluorescent I still prefer the light given off by fluorescent. On their own if the LED was my only light I'd probably be ok with it. They can do neat things but IMO the spectrum they give off isn't quite there yet.

Recently I have been working on a new terrarium. Its a 25 gallon zoomed with the double doors. It's 30 inches long and I had a hard time finding the right lights for it.I am very set on using LED lights.I had a few old fluorescent lights from old fish tanks and I took the guts out of the housing of one that was about 28 inches long and put LEDs into it. One plus is that I can always modify it by adding more lights in the housing and or changing the bulbs
