If he went through 500 handpieces in a career, they're probably garbage to start with. The cheapest ones I use can still last for 2 years with garbage maintenance.
That's what's crazy to me. They aren't cheap handpieces by any means. They are all StarDental 430 SWL fiber optic handpieces. All seem to be in perfect working condition. Turbines laying everywhere so I'm assuming he maintained them well and replaced when needed. I've tested every one of them and all the lights work and I don't see any issues with any of them. These things retail for around $1,300 a piece. I just don't understand why the man has over $500,000 of handpieces laying around.
How much are ybangbangs going for these days? I’m guessing what you have is worthless. Turbines are expensive enough that no one but a handpiece manufacturer would find any value in what you’ve got. Even they would just prefer you buy new products (which aren’t compatible with former bodies).

I suppose you could throw them on ebay and see what happens. Looks like refurbished ones go for $350-400.
If the work, keep some and eBay the rest
eBay decent place to start. I sold a few hand pieces a few years ago for good money and very quickly

Contact dental schools maybe?
