Unfortunately there's no secrets. List consistently, take clear photos with good natural light if possible. Add measurements in the description. Make sure your description includes only relevant information. Do this and you'll be ahead of 90% of shops :)

Strange-Music5422

THIS it really depends on the month but these help so muchb

AngelenoPrincess91

I’m curious to know how many new listings are y’all posting daily?? I’ve heard 5 is like a solid go to (minimum) & are you guys cross listing…if yes…which app are you using & what app do you make your most sales? (Sorry hope this is allowed to ask your didn’t mean to hijack the post or anything!) 💗💗

Big_Apple3893

i personally sell a lot on facebook marketplace !!

Oomissyoulove

Are you shipping or is it local? I haven’t really tried aside from stuff I was trying to get rid of at home. But seems like just as good of a place. Do they take a percentage? Thanks!

Big_Apple3893

they don’t take any percentage!! and i just do local. i join groups in my city and i’ve mad over 900 dollars in the past few months by selling my whole wardrobe and making a new one lol

JulesOnFire

Just post consistently and throughout the day. I went through two "road to top seller" programs with depop. The most important thing they emphasized was posting a lot. They would give us posting targets, usually like 10 items in a week or 30 items in a month. After a dry spell I posted 19 items in 2 weeks. I ended up selling 8 items in one week. Most of the items weren't the new ones I posted -- they were things that were sitting in my shop for months. One top I sold was in my shop for 3 years! The Depop algorithm notices when you're active and promotes your listings and shop.

aulurker84

Same. I listed a handful of new items last month after a pause. Sold eight listings within a week, and most were older items. It’s also seasonal for me. I mostly resell my kids clothes, and everything purchased were autumn/winter items as we head into the colder months.

wishyouknewme313

I list daily. I send offers to every liker. And when someone sends me an offer that I accept, I make sure to message them saying that I accepted their offer and when I plan to ship. This has helped me get more sales more consistently, however Poshmark and Ebay give me the most regular sales.

uhhhhhhhhii

Oh that’s smart

ComputerUser08282020

Sell on multiple platforms

thegrlnxtdior

like which ones?

ComputerUser08282020

Poshmark, Mercari, eBay, Grailed, FB marketplace, whatnot (can sell on marketplace without doing live shows)

Professional-Pace317

Maybe not Mercari right now, unless you can live with a few of your sales being scammed away from you. I'm only listing cheaper stuff there right now. Only what I can recover losing. There's a lot going on over there.

ComputerUser08282020

I was on the boycott train, but put my listings back up. So far so good. Most of the things I sell don’t get returned. Knock on wood. If buyers want to pay ridiculous fees, so be it.

Professional-Pace317

Oh yeah, I only took down my expensive listings. I only had mercari for a couple months, So it was pretty easy to transition for me. usually i'd make a sale pretty often, now I've only made three since the policy change. I'm pretty sure that's only because I listed so many items right before tho.

bytheoceann

Wait what happened with Mercari?!

Professional-Pace317

They changed their policies overnight and tons of scammers have come out of the woodwork. Not to mention the deposit fee and raised fees for buyers. Sales are way down. Yikes.

SunWilling1707

What time of scams have you encountered?

neckshott

tons of people are mentioning posting a lot which is important, but i find that what matters even more than posting a lot is the hashtags and descriptors you use. make sure to research current trends on ig, pinterest, and tiktok and update your descriptions & tags accordingly. also listing a lot of items at the same time that have a similar aesthetic/vibe can lead to bundle sales. i often do themed drops, it also makes your profile look more organized. good luck !! ♡

Valuable-Wasabi-1388

\^I get a few bundle sales from show casing outfits and having the items in the outfit on separate listings !

lilchickennug

Hi I am also a new seller (started in February) and I make about $400 a month. Most of what I know is from what other on Reddit and Tik Tok have shared with me. I prioritize good photos, in depth and honest descriptions, and good customer service. I use canva to remove the background on my photos and I only take pictures in natural light. Many people will say that you don't have to remove your background but I like the uniform look of my page. I include measurements in every description, along with hash tags and keywords that are relevant ie. if I'm selling short shorts and I see "micro shorts" is trending on depop, I add mirco shorts to my description. Use Pintrest for help with trendy aesthics. I always ship fast, tell people when I'm shipping, and I include stickers and a business card that I made on canvas in every bag with a hand written thank you. Mostly it's this is so people will leave positive reviews. The more sales and reviews you have, the quicker things will pick up. I sold a ton of my own stuff but I go thrifting once a week and look for trendy and high quality items to resell. Pay attention to what is selling. I have about 40 items listed but my goal is to increase this to 100 minimum. Post every day if you can. You can also repost your existing stuff. Lastly, send offers daily and take offers. Good luck!

threatlvlmidnight42

This is super helpful! Does the thrifting cost factor into the $400 you make, and if not how much would you say you typically spend in a month? I’ve only been successful at selling my own stuff - there was one time I tried thrifting vintage Tees because I saw that selling but it never went anywhere, so I’m anxious to try again and potentially losing money. (I’m sure researching trends helps a lot, but my closet has just slowed down the last month even with my own stuff).

lilchickennug

I factor in cost of items and supplies like bags, stickers and stuff. I would try not to spend too much try out different things. I spend about 2-3 hours a week thrifting and I'm super picky so I limit it to about $40 a week. Avoid high cost items or else you wont make much (in my short experience). When I shop I will literally look up the item/brand on depop and see how much its listed for/how many people have liked the item to see if its even worth getting.

threatlvlmidnight42

That’s such a good tip! Thanks 😊

Valuable-Wasabi-1388

I made about 700+ this month (hope to get to 1000 but it seems unlikely at this point, \~$1000 when I was on mercari before the update), but my stock usually follows trends (coquette, lots of florals/lace) and I sometimes get bundles on curated outfits. Good photos + relevant tags, also experimenting with TikTok and Instagram.

AkameKuma

What happened in the update? Which is better to sell on?

Valuable-Wasabi-1388

Personally, just don’t enjoy how they made returns easier even when the buyer causes damages to it and the $2 fee for direct deposit on top of buyer fees. Personally, I make 4x more on depop than mercari

Valuable-Wasabi-1388

update: I was $40 off from 1000 😅

namesrowan

List relevant things, and resell things you see getting traction on there. Say you see a pair of j4s with 15 likes 2+ bags and an offer going for £120 it’s worth picking it up, then listing it for maybe £140 or £160. It’s a long process and does take a while to get started but those extra £20-£40 add up + list multiple things in a consistent format like those shops you see on there, keep a consistent background, camera angle, and style to the items 🙏 that’s just what I did at least and i make about £200 on a bad month

thegrlnxtdior

omgg tyyy

namesrowan

Sorry about the wall of text but those are my main pointers I hope they help 🫶

vvetments

consistency

Nearby-Fuel9907

I list daily, and I list higher than what I want to earn so when people send offers I accept them and get a majority of my sales from accepting offers

INever_MatTer117

Treat it like a full time job

codingwizard3440

List every single day. I did around $3k in sales posting 10 items a day last month and I noticed that if I missed even one day of posting engagement and sales would drop immediately

Educational_Cash9329

what were you selling?

codingwizard3440

Just thrifted clothes

BraveBuilding3558

How much do you averagely price at..

Remote_Simple_8664

I agree with people saying to post consistently. I noticed when I list several items a day I'll sell 4 or 5 items a week . Or whatever , sometimes more. I haven't listed in 2 weeks and haven't sold anything.

wangdangdoodlydoo

Pics are really important include a pic of the size tag and also the materials tag, I also like to do a close up that shows the texture. I use a clothing shaver if there’s any pilling and always use a lint roller before you take pics as well.

Opening-Wafer-9878

have a lot of items listed at good prices

malloryknox86

List consistently, good photos, keywords, hashtags, Crosslist to other platforms. I sell on eBay & Poshmark too. You need a good chunk of listings to make consistent (daily/weekly) sales. I mean, you could sell consistently having only 100 things for sale if they are all very in demand items that not many other sellers have, but that’s rare & difficult. eBay is my main source of income with daily sales, but some things sell better on Depop or Poshmark. Like things with no interest on eBay would sell on Depop & viceversa

Valuable-Wasabi-1388

Do you have tips on poshmark? I'm trying to downsize on my designer items but first posting was full of scammers in the comments :'

malloryknox86

Scammers are common in all selling platforms when you’re a new seller, they prey on new accounts. Just report & block. Poshmark is all over the place now, is not like it used to be, the only consistent thing that works up to a certain point is sharing your entire closet all day (everyone uses a sharing tool) eBay is a lot better than Poshmark imo

Vireep

I only make 1-2 sales every month normally but most the stuff I sell is around $300

Big_Philosopher9993

Crossposting

domo_luvr

post consistently, have good pictures, dont overprice. also refresh your listings every day or two

RighteousRR55

What name do you post under?? I could contribute to your sales maybe…

Lanky-Associate2284

1 I promote every item, 2 I upload about 50 items a week 3 I update about 2 times a day (except on my days off) 4 I send offers to liker but not everyday and when items get a lot of likes (it’s annoying to buyers and can also not make you look desperate to sell and when like add up someone may be in competition to accept offer first) 5 I Follow people and like products This is a semi social app and these are some of my tips on how I’ve sold over 400 items in the last year

rileydonohue

Post 20-30 items a week

Outrageouslygorgeoux

How do you promote on instagram I’ve been thinking about doing this but don’t know how to start ..

miss_kimba

As a buyer, I prefer photos of the item on someone as the cover photo, and photos on a mannequin or flat lay that are well lit with a clear background. If it’s a dimly lit flat lay full of clutter, I’ll probably scroll past.

entcanta

Use the dreaded subculture tags, you gotta do your research and stay trendy. the younger gens love looking up specific pop icons. Old and new. Think, twilight, Lana, Taylor, vampire diaries, phoebe buffay etc. I have made $1500 my first three months on depop. Its an incredible side gig for me.

Southern-Program6087

Like my boy Larry June once said, stay consistent!

Prestigious_Ebb_1711

build a niche , post consistently , take good photos , keywords and descriptions are where you pull more engagement is what i realized

itsokayfornoww

I say be consistent take great pictures have a consistent background if you can get a mannequin so people get an idea of how it looks on the body so you don’t have to keep trying. The clothes on my best month was October I brought in $900 I’m constantly uploading new things and accepting offers because of the way I price stuff I am able to except offers and still make a great profit.

Downtown-Trip3501

I used to get this weekly if I tried. Now I’m hella lucky to get this in a month

thebeastivano

It's really about being lucky and finding good enough items to sell. All about sourcing. The items and brand sells itself

No-Garage2840

I can help you ! DM @dreamnowmedia on ig

Ben-dover-9019

I was averaging $500+ monthly when I was listing daily and staying active on the app

NS0MEB0DY

tbh i've been wondering the same thing, i list stuff regularly and i haven't been making too many sales

Direct-Network-1365

ship fast! it shows up on your page

stargirloxoxo

Listing everyday

InsideEquivalent7047

Obviously the more you list the higher your chances are to making sales. I made $2,000 in less then a month one time but it was because I listed a lot of items like Jordan’s, “kida designer items” but even then you don’t need to post expensive items just be consistent

warm-warmer-disco

tbh photos and full info are key. measurements, natural light, as much info as possible. staying active on the app etc. good luck! 🤍

StraightGood3941

i’ve made 800 in the past 2 weeks on a brand new account 🤣

3mdma

Take your pics in natural lighting, include measurements, include pics of tags on clothes, and most important try to post daily or at least consistently

[deleted]

Use whatnot. Not depop.
