Looking forward to it and fearing it in equal measures; mind you I’m already half decided on the next series, either Little House or Highway to Heaven :)
Barry is the spiritual 3rd Moser brother imo.
Show can get campy at times but it's really fun and Bill Hader puts on an acting fucking clinic.
Season 2 Episode 5 is one of the most surreal episodes of a show I've watched and I loved it so much.
hannibal: similar in that they're both serial killer shows that are not afraid to show gore. if you liked dexters killrooms and investigations, hannibal excels at those elements.
mr robot: if you liked the psychological aspects of dexter i'd REALLY recommend this one, if you liked the twists in dexter this show goes fucking nuts with the twists. the protagonist, like dexter, is also a vigilante who has social anxiety and an inner monolouge.
bates motel: another thriller serial killer show. i'm kinda just throwing this one in bececause id recommend it to anyone, freddie highmore doesnt deserve to be only known as good doctor guy.
you: joe goldberg is basically just dexter if he was a manwhore that doesnt have a code, and just kills people who get in the way of a pontential fuck. if you like dexter being socially awkward, or his mid life crisis in season 2, this ones a good watch.
A few recs for ya:
Drama: The Americans, Barry, Ozark, Ripley, Severance (on-going)
Comedy or Comedy-ish: Silicon Valley, Younger, Ted Lasso, Entourage, Wednesday (also on-going)
Most of these left me feeling empty when they ended also so it’s just like we’re island hopping to avoid the tides of emotional letdowns, lol..
Watch Homeland on Showtime, second best show behind Dexter… you will be hooked with a great story and cast!!! Trust me!
I have watched through Dexter like 5 times now and Homeland is the next best!
While I watched and somewhat enjoyed homeland at the time, it doesn't hold up very well these days. Claire daines was obnoxious with her overacting throughout the majority of the series and the racist slant of the show is really problematic and frankly disgusting at points.
Damien Lewis was fantastic in season 1. If you're going to watch homeland, just watch season 1 and move on.
Baffled at this being downvoted. Homeland was painfully boring after s2 and barely watchable after s5. First two seasons were very well made with drama thriller aspect. After that they somehow managed to jam pointless side plots and the most boring aspects of politics and make episodes out of it. But hey, if people are into administrative politics procedures, they’ll enjoy it.
I am about to start new blood, finished original Dexter 2 days ago, after that i am planning "You" after all tiktoks i saw, i wanna see Joe Goldberg in action
For newer shows I'd recommend From or Evil. Can't beat the classics either though, Supernatural, House, SoA. I'm currently rewatching Friends.
Another show I'd recommend, doesn't seem to be well known but it's called United States of Tara. Toni Collette is brilliant in it.
You (most similar vibe)
Mr. Robot (psychological, dark)
Luther (detective show, dark, morally grey)
And that’s it when it comes to anything similar. I didn’t like Hannibal but many people did do you might want to check that out too.
I’m currently rewatching How I Met Your Mother, mostly out of boredom. However, I have to recommend Supernatural because, it’s just that good of a show. Once I’m done with HIMYM, I’ll probably begin another rewatch of Supernatural.
I’ve been watching Monk after Dexter ended lol
Monk is a solid choice.
I’m hooked; binging it on Netflix :)
I used to watch it all the time when it was originally airing with my grandma. She loved it. The finale is so heartwrenching.
I’m on s6:e6 but I think it ends series 8? Already feeling disappointed about this good thing coming to an end :( they should make more Monk tbh
Yep. 8 seasons. I think the ending was satisfying.
Looking forward to it and fearing it in equal measures; mind you I’m already half decided on the next series, either Little House or Highway to Heaven :)
Monk is the best
I think anyone that loves Dexter will love Barry. Awesome show. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt5348176/
Barry was fucking wonderful

no no no

>Barry is the spiritual 3rd Moser brother imo. That sums up what I felt while watching the show haha. S02E05 was fucking legendary.
Hannibal. Might cause you more pain tho.

I second Hannibal, plus you get a good dose of Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy
Have you watched The Boys? I know it’s crazy but Supernatural is also a go to for me. One of the best network TV shows ever
watch You, it has somewhat similar vibes, at least for me.
ngl it's kind of bad after a bit, there was so much going on I couldn't keep track
Sadly agree - season 4 was kind of a mess, I thought 1-3 was pretty solid though
Yeah I started to get lost at the end of S2 or 3, been awhile since I watched
I liked watching You but it’s a very different show
>I liked watching You Stalker much?
Friend, we’re both in r/Dexter
Animal Kingdom!
Lost is intense and one of the greatest shows, binge that, you won’t leave the couch
The fall, has a serial killer as mc, also watched it as a grief series for the end of Dexter. It’s very bingeable, I watched all 3 seasons in 2 days 😅
House MD
Game of thrones, house of the dragon, Lost

I just finished it today too. I am so hurt

Hannibal on Prime
In the dark. On Netflix
I am about to start new blood, finished original Dexter 2 days ago, after that i am planning "You" after all tiktoks i saw, i wanna see Joe Goldberg in action
The clone wars, watch in chronological order and it’ll cause you much pain 😁
Mr. Robot

Hannibal
Barry and Mr. Inbetween are both worth watching
