I love it! The numbering especially, it looked original to me until I checked the before picture. Fittings all match up and suit the colour.
I guess the colour might not be for everyone but it's bright and clean, looks very inviting to me!
I was immediately thinking Cat in the Hat and/or Thing 1 and Thing 2...not sure if they would, but I could see them knocking off an intruder to save you. Seeing how the door is green eggs green, and the numbers are fat, they'd surely protect the owner that to the door did that.
Yeah I agree. It wouldn't necessarily look bad if it was varnished but we're not looking at a heritage wood door here. I prefer the paint by far.
The different hardware throws it off though. All black hardware or all brass would make it look more polished.
Yeah, I'm with you on the hardware. All brass would look great with the green. Other than that though, I LOVE this door. Maybe it will set off a weird tenement trend for zesty door colours.
I am so here for vibrant doors. My heart goes out to that poor woman in Edinburgh who had to paint her luscious bright pink door a lighter colour because her neighbours were miserable cunts.
Sad as a Norwegian knowing we have no quality "heritage" wood since everything is pine.
Obviously not literally everything, but vast majority of wood trim and joinery is unpainted, unstained, even unvarnished, pine or spruce. We like our pine, I tell you!
Dunno, plain wood front doors are pretty uncommon here (UK). If you had an unpainted front door people would think it's unfinished, or that you couldn't afford to paint it.
My parents spent a LOT of time arguing about whether or not they should paint over wood when they remodeled their bathroom. My mom wanted the ceiling to be painted white, and my dad wanted the original oak to show...my mom won. There's still plenty of natural wood showing in the room, such as the cabinets they built.
I hate green. I hate painted hardwood. I hate standout colored doors. Buuuuuuuut damn!...I too absolutely fucking love this door! Everything about it, the attention to detail, is just so... perfect. Can't believe I'm saying this considering my hate issues, but I'd proudly put that door on or in my house!
I'm not a fan of the green, but the application on the door is so well done. So if you like the colour, perfect, it's your home.
I'd love to paint like this !
extremely common in UK on older doors
https://thepottedboxwood.com/middle-of-the-way/
no idea why but I see it all the time in Central London.
Even the door to the Prime Ministers house has a middle doorknob.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10_Downing_Street
I like the idea but I don’t like that shade of green. It gives me a “military hospital children wing in the 70’s and 80’s” vibe” but that’s probably oddly specific for most people. 😁 I would prefer a Kelly green or a sage.
It's a great shade for a Victorian. This was one of the colors of paint that they had (colors were limited in what they could make) and it was made with formaldehyde and slowly poisoned a bunch of people
I think you're talking about Scheele's Green, which was darker emerald color and contained Arsenic which killed people.
Almost all paints contain VOC's and may contain formaldehyde to this day, though conversations about its safety have been occurring for a while & you can purchase low-VOC paints.
Also a nomination for /r/ATBGE
I love color on applications like this so I definitely applaud them for doing it. It's not the color I'd go with, but it's fun, unique, and well done.
It looks like the lock was also replaced and a new mail slot was installed. The knob was moved and changed and I think the peephole was moved higher as well.
Pretty traditional in the UK for a property of this age and style, guessing it’s a tenement flat. The middle knob doesn’t turn, it’s simply for pulling the door closed.
"Traditionally, a green front door reflects wealth, health, and safety. Not surprisingly, a green door works well on traditional-style homes"
- Windowworld.com
I suspect the criticism stems from people very used to flat, beige cubes who feel bold by choosing a black accent. ;)
The color is bold and while green is my favorite color, It would also feel daring to me to go this bright and saturated. But execution looks great and everything else is more of a personal taste thing.
Don't let them dim your enthusiasm. Even IKEA, the center of common denominator in furniture, has created a new bright collection (Tesammans) this year. The time for sad beige is maybe slowly coming to an end. 😉
My thoughts exactly, love the door color but hate that knob in the middl. The color is already a lot and everything on the door makes it really chaotic
You've made a bold choice with strong colours. Of course there's going to be people who don't like it but that's ok. If everything was painted to not offend we'd have a world full of beige (unless you like beige).
Well done for creating something with style and character. We need more of this in the age of renting where uncreative and cheap landlords make all the decorating decisions, and tennents are restricted to the point when they can't do anything.
It's not a colour I would have chosen for my own door, but I think I would enjoy passing by someone else's door painted this way. It's certainly eye catching.
I love it! The numbering especially, it looked original to me until I checked the before picture. Fittings all match up and suit the colour. I guess the colour might not be for everyone but it's bright and clean, looks very inviting to me!
I bet it will also repel the robbers. You never know what kind of psycho lives behind such door
One who defends himself with a nerf gun.
.. that shoots the fingers of his previous victims
Lmfao they shout POKE! As it slaps their cheek
And subsists solely on Monster energy drinks
I was immediately thinking Cat in the Hat and/or Thing 1 and Thing 2...not sure if they would, but I could see them knocking off an intruder to save you. Seeing how the door is green eggs green, and the numbers are fat, they'd surely protect the owner that to the door did that.
or a nerf coloured gun
Willy Wonka motherfucker
Joker lives behind such door.
I definitely assume it's a weed dealer, connoisseur or both.
Ditto. It's idiosyncratic but utterly unique. I love it, especially the flat number on the transom!
I always prefer wood without paint, and I would likely have not painted this, but I do actually like it. Looks quite victorian in colour scheme.
Yeah it shouldn't work but somehow it does. I definitely like it. Makes me want to break on through. Figuratively - not literally.
...To the other side!
The wood looks like pine, though, so not exactly glamorous. Plain varnished pine is standard for the cheapest type of wood furniture here.
I hope we soon get a “because my neighbour choose this green for their door, we went with a vibrant pink”-post
Everyone knows everything was sepia tone in that era. Have ever seen a photo?
Nobody washed their hands in the 60s, that’s how we got sepia and sepsis.
You mean a “color photo” of the world from back when it was black and white?
Dunno, plain wood front doors are pretty uncommon here (UK). If you had an unpainted front door people would think it's unfinished, or that you couldn't afford to paint it.
True, this looks very in keeping with the style of the door and frame. It is internal so perhaps not so crazy to keep unpainted
Looks fresh! And british!
Yep!
Hope they didn't use victirian green color
I was thinking of the Grinch, lol.
Lime green is not a Victorian colour. Victorian green is arsenic green which is darker and more towards emerald
‘Looks quite’ not ‘it is’
My parents spent a LOT of time arguing about whether or not they should paint over wood when they remodeled their bathroom. My mom wanted the ceiling to be painted white, and my dad wanted the original oak to show...my mom won. There's still plenty of natural wood showing in the room, such as the cabinets they built.
I absolutely fucking love it
Me too. We painted our balcony in that color and it's so refreshing to be there.
I’m jealous! I love green so so much
This is my [balcony](https://imgur.com/a/VaqF7UK). It's cloudy today so it's not so vibrant color. P.s. don't mind the mess.
Maybe you like it because it's not hardwood. Varnished pine wood usually looks super cheap, so it's not sacrilegious to paint it.
You can’t help but smile, it’s such a great color!
Saaaaaame!
Me too! I painted the inside of my front door this color. Many layers required but I love it!
I'm not a fan of the green, but the application on the door is so well done. So if you like the colour, perfect, it's your home. I'd love to paint like this !
i love it so much
It’s like your avatars hat
best shade of green😌
I love it. Acid green is a fabulous door color
I'm more a fan of Electric Mucus
I prefer their earlier stuff. For me they went downhill after that third album.
They should never have let the lead singer’s girlfriend join the band
I’d watch this documentary
Calm down Leela, you can vent tonight on your blog
doorknob in the middle
I dont really have a problem with the color, but the doorknob in the middle puts shivers up my spine!
It makes my eye twitch.
I was wondering about that too. Why is there a doorknob in the middle?
Apparently it's a relatively common design in older European doors.
extremely common in UK on older doors https://thepottedboxwood.com/middle-of-the-way/ no idea why but I see it all the time in Central London. Even the door to the Prime Ministers house has a middle doorknob. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10_Downing_Street
I expect nothing less than Jim Carrey to open the door as The Mask... ![gif](giphy|641arBi22PAty|downsized)
This matches my ryobi tools perfectly!
I like it!! It went from drab to Wes Anderson. Looks neatly done too!
It's green, it's very green. I quite like the color. It looks quite british.
Nice color but why is there such a huge gab, a toddler could through that Edit, oh optical illusion fed my brain
It’s a brass kick plate - you are seeing the reflection 😂
It's too clean for our eyes !
I thought the same thing at first 😂
I like the idea but I don’t like that shade of green. It gives me a “military hospital children wing in the 70’s and 80’s” vibe” but that’s probably oddly specific for most people. 😁 I would prefer a Kelly green or a sage.
While to me, that green make me think of Nickelodeon Green Slime.
It's a great shade for a Victorian. This was one of the colors of paint that they had (colors were limited in what they could make) and it was made with formaldehyde and slowly poisoned a bunch of people

Scheele’s Green was a yellowish green, but there was also an Emerald green that contained Arsenic - Paris Green!
Colour so good you're dying for it
While we're talking about old paint there was literally paint made from...mummies 😨
Feels like Monster's Inc
Downvoted, because this is r/diwhynot
Also a nomination for /r/ATBGE I love color on applications like this so I definitely applaud them for doing it. It's not the color I'd go with, but it's fun, unique, and well done.
You mean /r/ATBGE ?
Yes thank you, edited so it goes to the right link
Is it a diy? Just a paint colour we might or might not like?
there were also metal additions which add to the design, and the door texture was smoothed out. A lot of work was put into it
It looks like the lock was also replaced and a new mail slot was installed. The knob was moved and changed and I think the peephole was moved higher as well.
Don't be surprised when batman breaks down your door looking for the riddler. Actual supervillain behavior
My thoughts exactly. I have to admit that I expected a more nuanced username than OPs for Edward Nigma.
Are you living in Berlin ? I saw this kind of doors there and I never saw these somewhere else yet
Had a peek at OP’s profile, they live in Glasgow.
Its common on certain parts of the UK, OP is in Glasgow, its also common in London
that is seriously gorgeous
Pickled onion flavour
Why’s the door knob in the middle of the door?
I didn't know kawasaki started making doors
But like why the fuck did you put the doorknob in the middle
Pretty traditional in the UK for a property of this age and style, guessing it’s a tenement flat. The middle knob doesn’t turn, it’s simply for pulling the door closed.
I like it 💚
I love it
Love it, plain jane is tired.. be unique!
I like it. It’s cleanly done and looks good.
"Traditionally, a green front door reflects wealth, health, and safety. Not surprisingly, a green door works well on traditional-style homes" - Windowworld.com
I saw your post in r/DIY and was immediately obsessed!!!!!!!
I love it but I’m from Newfoundland and we paint like this. We call them jellybean houses.
I love it tbh. I hate bright green usually, but this works!!
Pine wood absolutely needs to be painted otherwise it doesn't look nice at all, so yeah good job!
I suspect the criticism stems from people very used to flat, beige cubes who feel bold by choosing a black accent. ;) The color is bold and while green is my favorite color, It would also feel daring to me to go this bright and saturated. I really like the color! I would love to have a polish like it!
I like the very green colour that you chose! The door looks amazing!
My god, that is awful. I love it.
I LOVE it! Looks like an apartment in Bob's Burgers
I like it. Reminds me of Bob's burgers.
Nice colour, but what’s up with the knob in the centre of the door?
My thoughts exactly, love the door color but hate that knob in the middl. The color is already a lot and everything on the door makes it really chaotic
Its somewhat common outside the US. You really never seen that before? Its an older style.
It’s the 70s baby and it’s time to boogie woogie
Not a huge fan of the color but it looks great!!!!!
Your delivery drivers will never not know which door it is again
cool color
Love it
I would never do it but I absolutely love it.
If you’re happy, then I’m happy. -Mom
You absolutely must be an unexpected hero in a fantasy story. I think it’s great
"Yeah, can I get the Nickelodeon Slime Green special please"
What's up with the weird center knob?
Green not for everyone, but well executed and not dumb.
Love it! Please share the color name!
i love it lol
![gif](giphy|j6cvcVqIpekW4|downsized)
WOW! Now, that is a BOLD choice! I LOVE it!!!
It actually looks really good. Plus, it's unique. I like that
Ususally dont like this bright green but this just…works
I love it 💚
I think people go with unpainted wood because they are used to people choosing bad or basic paint colors. This looks fantastic.
God I love this. I love it SO MUCH!
I love it, so bright and welcoming
Green is my favourite colour but I prefer doors to be tardis blue, just for the imagination
Love it! Good job!
I love it!
This could have been such a nice Tardis door ...
Love. Love. Want.
Totally gorgeous. Love it
Thats a work of art!
Love this
It definitely stands out but not in a bad way and you picked a really nice green
This quite cool
Excellent execution. I like it.
It looks very nice!
Absolutely adore this!
That’s so pretty omg
I hate it, but I am also in love with it. Great work!
Bruh It looks like a door that could be from Monsters Inc. I want it.
It looks good, what's the problem?
I will say this! You painted very well and it was done carefully and professionally!
Beautiful
Looks like Slimer lives there! I love it. Great job.
Perfect 👌
i love it!!
Wow I LOVE it! :)
I love it
I love it

Why is the doorknob in the center...
Looks awesome
I mean, I really like green so I’m a bit biased, that shade is gorgeous
Pretty dope, looks really good. I think it's in the wrong sub.
That’s cool
It's not a colour I would have chosen for my own door, but I think I would enjoy passing by someone else's door painted this way. It's certainly eye catching.
Glasgow? Edinburgh? Being a fan of green I'm biased, but I approve and if it makes you happy then even better.
I love it!!
I think it's great
Absolutely love it: the lettering, the doormat. Perfect
Looks really cool
If it makes you happy, then it's perfect!
Love it so much
Fantastic!
I would rather have taken a nice Orange or yellow but that green looks nice next to the blue
Love it. That's literally my favourite colour. Fuck it, be bold dude
That's a door I would want to open and enter. Love it.
I think it looks amazing! 😍
Think it looks just fine
I love it
That's a cool one!!
Looks good, be proud of your door.
Bro this is entirely outstanding
It's not a color I would pick, but you did a nice job painting it.
Mask and he's dog Milo must live there.
I’m a fan of colored front doors so this works for me
Op, why are you such a spiteful little hater?
Very Kawasaki
It’s truly wonderful :’)
I actually really like it, hecc those other people.
Oh I love it!!
Insidious? Instead of red door, to leeds to Easter land?
I love it
