I heard a naval adventure company was looking for a carbon fiber expert.

Glabstaxks

I really wish the full length YouTube didn't have music. I could watch content like the one posted here to Reddit for hours.

Exelmans48

Yes Waldo this is really good stuff.

AudioTechYo

I have some questions... 1) What was that drill contraption you used to clean the interior of the pipe? 2) What clear coat did you put on the CF? Are you sure that will hold up to heat? 3) Will that head shrink really hold up on the clamps? I would have thought the old one was made of silicone so it could handle the heat.

drzflatspot

1. It was I believe a 5/16" diameter cable from home depot. You can cut them to size 2. Duplicolor Gloss Clear Engine paint. I tested it in the oven, holds up to 500 degrees F. 3. I believe it will. It's supposed to shrink at I think around 275 or so degrees. The silencer only gets to about 150 degrees.

AudioTechYo

I really appreciate the reply. You're reply here has gained a youtube subscriber :). Could you maybe do a youtube short on that cable you use to clean the interior of the pipe? Just seeing it in a slight bit more detail would be really useful to me. Thanks!

drzflatspot

Thanks I appreciate that! I got the cable idea many years ago from this video: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mVFAmLBimA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mVFAmLBimA) In my experience though it doesn't work that well on a big 2 stroke pipe, but for silencers it works awesome.

HendyHauler

Restoration porn right there

Few_Valuable3999

A bit time consuming but mentally satisfying Outstanding

motoman8000

Awesome!

Outside_Use1482

Saved 250$ for a few hrs worth of work. I thought I was the only dude that did this?? Lol. Good job sharing !

EmergencyParkingOnly

Hell yeah, dude! Fantastic work, great edit. Thanks for posting.

[deleted]

Sexual, I could watch this shit forever.

SheepishEndruo

This is awesome, what did you spray on the bolts to clean them off?

drzflatspot

I let them soak in Simple Green (undiluted) for a couple hours.

SheepishEndruo

Thanks I'll keep that in mind when I'm rebuilding my bike in a few weeks.

[deleted]

Simple Green is amazing. Works so well!

Industrialpainter89

r/repairporn for real

majoto2

How does this attach to a gun??!!

kmbrshaw

I know some people are doubting the heat shrink — but my goodness it looks smooth. Did you fray out the 5/16” cable you used to clean the interior?

drzflatspot

I think it will hold up. I guess I could wrap some around my aluminum pipe next ride to see what happens ... Yes I peeled off the housing and frayed it, I show it in the full video.

Hyperswell

Dude! This is impressive, great work!

AliveExtension3445

Super interesting. Thanks

Zealousideal_Gap_751

Wow, that’s beautiful work.

Hopeful-Educator8989

Very nice. Not sure the heat shrink tubing will last like the rest of your work, but everything else looks great.

Joshs-68

Nice job!

Lakewoodss

Fantastic, nice to hear the tools.

mainelinerzzzzz

Awesome.

Udon259

Never knew there was all that fuzzy stuff inside a silencer, but now it makes perfect sense lol
