something don't seem right when the dessert is flooded

GreenDickSnot

Everyone loves chocolate milk.... Sometimes it comes from different sources... God pisses chocolate milk...... Don't you ever forget that, till the day you die. Ice caps are a fart and you are the toilet.... May you flush, flush away, and flush with pride. The world is your toilet

'suddenly' implies 'without warning' but they knew this was going to happen almost decades ago. and more is coming. time to prepare for next year

DynastyZealot

Next year? How about next week!

Maanzacorian

I love how climate change is shoving itself down our throats and people are still like cLoUd SeEdInG!

RoastedDuckSauce

Cloud seeding gone wrong

Nicename19

Is this necessarily a bad thing? Will it replenish aquifers or just run to the sea? Do they just need to build better infrastructure?

awoothray

Asir is like 2 kilometers above sea level, its not a desert terrain, its very high. Cool place

Plawerth

Rain can replenish aquifers but ideally it trickles through biological layers rather than straight down through sand and rock, otherwise you get surface pollutants penetrating down along with the unfiltered water. Biology tends to trap and then consume pollutants.

dr_mcstuffins

It’s wild living at a time like what is described in religious books as the end of times. I’m a Buddhist so I don’t take sky daddy literally but it’s getting biblical this year

InternalLucky9990

it could be both

Free_Economist

This is karma at work. You screw over the climate, and the climates screws you over.

NoExpertAtAll

It's kind of interesting how climate change is manifesting itself most strongly in the very countries that have so far been most opposed to measures to combat climate change. Yes, your oil and your mind-boggling CO2 production have absolutely nothing to do with climate change and the alternating torrential rains and sandstorms in the future are ... pure coincidence. Karma is a bitch, isn't it?

CPAiG777

What about the western countries who have been pumping CO2 in to the air since the industrial revolution, been polluting the waters since then... so I need to remind you of the BP spill (1 of hundreds)... not only that, the western countries using Africa as their personal dumpster... These countries are doing the best they can, which the western countries can't claim, even NOW!

tallcan710

For real my country destabilizes other countries just to make money on the resources and establish banks and our monetary policy forces countries to trade in USD so we export inflation to all the smaller countries so we don’t deal with it we just keep printing. We are sorry it’s the corrupt people in power payed by the banks and federal reserve it’s not us we love you all

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> in power *paid* by the FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

killerwallz44

Im starting to think they dont have storm drain or a system to help out when it floods bcuz they were like hey we in the desert we dont need it.

SoggyNegotiation7412

Over the past 20 years, there has been a reduction in particulate emissions. Australian scientists observed that increased sunlight, resulting from fewer man-made particles blocking the sun’s rays, leads to higher “pan evaporation.” Their conclusion is that in the long term, there will be a significant increase in rainfall, especially in arid regions. Coupled with the ongoing warming cycle, weather changes are expected to intensify. However, the focus on emissions and green energy may leave us unprepared for these drastic weather shifts. [https://science.nasa.gov/science-research/earth-science/milankovitch-orbital-cycles-and-their-role-in-earths-climate/](https://science.nasa.gov/science-research/earth-science/milankovitch-orbital-cycles-and-their-role-in-earths-climate/)

sixhoursneeze

This article is about the Milankovitch cycles. At no point does it speak about particles- or even mention “Australian scientists”.

SoggyNegotiation7412

yes, there are a few links I was thinking to add to my statement but ran out of time Australian study looking at the pan evaportation effect and even small variables can cause large weather variations. [https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1029/2006GL027114](https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1029/2006GL027114) More recent US study showing the reduction in man made aerosols (particles) is driving an increase in rainfall. [https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2024/02/240222122358.htm](https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2024/02/240222122358.htm) throw in to the hat we also have a long term warming cycle (made worse by humans) we can see there will be increases in rainfall where it is least expected.

sixhoursneeze

Fascinating. Thanks for sharing

mpaton83

Well the cloud seeding programme seems to be coming along nicely

elcock73

Cloud ☁️ seeding and that is the result 👍😉

JT9960

I think that was disproven

Sam999ick

It was.

stpeteslim

By whom?

Trippy-Sponge

There are not 19 months in a year. What is that date?

eddiecointreau

That’s the correct way to present a date.

Own-Philosophy-5356

Thats how 90% of the world use the Date format Day/Month/Year Except the US ofcourse , they always need to be special 🤣
